Awful news, to have a career cut short like that at such a young age. Deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, now's the time to jam his music and remember him by it.
| |
so fucking sad. rip tom i'm glad you aren't suffering anymore. so inspiring that when he knew he was dying he played two shows. must've took a lot of strength. man just hits me so hard.

| |
just goes to show that 2016 isn't over yet
RIP
| |
RIP. Does this signal the end of the band?
| |
they said they're going to continue touring for a while in his honor, but that they probably won't release any new material unless it's something they feel he would have been proud of.
RIP Tom. I'm so bummed over this as a fan but I can't even imagine what it must be like for his twin brother. my sympathy to his bandmates and family.
| |
This is awful. RIP
| |
Whoa, that's shit
| |
Absolutely terrible news, RIP Tom.
| |
fuck cancer. RIP Tom, you will be missed
| |
I teared up listening through Daybreaker today, that album got me through some dark times. Tom was a brilliant songwriter, he will be dearly missed
| |
Really sad. Didn't know anything of his illness. Dude put out a lot of great work and is gone too soon. It's just sad all around for someone to die so young. No one should have to suffer through something as awful as cancer. Hollow Crown was my introduction to this band and the dude clearly knew how to write some awesome riffs. Really sucks he's gone. Can't imagine the toll this has taken on Dan and the rest of the band.
| |
Dan must feel like he lost his other half, they were twins after all. I can't imagine losing a sibling so early in their life
| |
Never been a huge fan but I love Hollow Crown. I also never realized how pivotal this dude was to the band, he pretty much wrote all their songs starting with Nightmares when he was just 18.
So sad.... RIP
| |
What the fuck, this came out of nowhere. I can't believe this, he was one of the best guitarists in the UK metalcore scene. I'm not sure how the band will continue without him but I'm sure they will do in his memory. He may be gone but they can keep him alive through the songs he wrote.
| |
rip jamming architects in honor
| |
Hate hearing this. Fuck Cancer.
| |
Since all the musicians are dying this year, should I just kill myself now?
No, in all seriousness, this is awful news. I had a family member pass away from cancer earlier this year. What an awful year this has been. R.I.P
| |
RIP
| |
Fucking tragic. Really ruined my day when I found out he passed. R.I.P Tom
| |
Shit, didn't even know about his illness, RIP. I think I'll go jam LF//LT for a bit.
| |
Fucking RIP
| |
This band put out some records a long time ago that I still really fuck with -mand he was on all of them. Way too young and talented to go like that. Rip
| |
fuckkkkk
RIP
| |
Fuck you 2016. RIP hard
| |
way too young. fuck cancer
| |
memento mori just hits so hard now. those lyrics god damn. the ultimate swan song
| |
Horrible news. He was a great musician and 28 is just horrifically young for anyone to die. It's amazing that he had it in him to play two shows at the end though and I have massive respect for him.
Not to derail the thread, but the intro paragraph seriously needs an edit. Typos and awkward phrasing all over the place that reads like it was written by someone that barely has a grasp on the English language.
| |
"So watch the sun sink into the sea; There is a perfect peace, but don't wait up for me."
Rest in peace, man.
| |
2016 is killing all the musicians rip
| |
Fuck. I'm turning 28 tonight and this is beyond heartbreaking. Goodnight sweet prince.
| |
Got to see them twice on the Hollow Crown tour, even got to be in the 'Follow the Water' video - both times the whole band were super friendly and great fun.
Another life taken too soon. RIP.
| |
Really, really sad to hear.
Rest in peace Tom
| |
28... awful. Scares me even more during beach season. SPF up homies, the sun ain't no joke.
| |
Genuinely gutted, guy was a big influence in my teen years, gonna jam hollow crown in honour
| |
RIP Tom. I hope Architects continue after this, if not they went out with a bang with AOGHAU
| |
Absolutely devastated to hear this. I actually interviewed the band early last year and it hits a bit harder when it's someone you've actually spoken to and shook hands with. Completely tragic. Rest in Peace Tom Searle.
| |
This makes me really fucking sad. Cancer is absolutely awful.
Rest easy Tom, jamming All Our Gods in your honour.
| |
terrible news. RIP
| |
This is just terrible. RIP dude.
| |
Horrible news.
i'll jam an album by them.
| |
RIP Tom. I've been spinning architects albums yesterday and today. The dude was a great songwriter and guitarist. He will be missed. I'll have to read into the lyrics from their last album a little more closely now.
It makes me wonder if Tom's illness had anything to do anything with giving Adam the title as an official member of the band. As if to say, should something happen to me, this guy is worthy of being to be my successor someday.
| |
Never heard of him or the band but rest in peace
| |
WTF that sucks! Terrible news. Their last album was great though! I'll give it a listen again for him. Really good album.
| |
pretty fucking sad
never paid attention to this band before, but sounds like he was a passionate guy. i'll give them a shot even though I'm not that into metalcore anymore
| |
I'm sure Architects will continue, I have little doubt that they discussed this eventuality at some point and Tom probably told them to continue without him. All depends on whether the band has the drive to carry on after the current tour ends, and if they can write anything they think Tom would approve of. It'll be like when Slipknot took some time out after Paul Gray died though with a small hiatus for a mourning period, I guess.
| |
The difference between Architects and Slipknot is that Slipknot has 8 other members and Paul wasn't the principal songwriter and mastermind of the band.
| |
Paul wrote much of the music actually.
| |
Yeah like 90% of the music for Slipknot was written by Joey, Mick or Paul. After Paul died and Joey left, Jim took on more of a songwriting role. His increased input to Slipknot was probably part of the reason why he was told to leave Stone Sour.
I'm sure Architects will come back after a break with one of their best albums. It may take 3 or 4 years but I'm sure it'll come.
| |
Massive RIP.
I've never gotten around to checking this band out, so that will definitely change this week.
| |
Cringe
| |
yikes
| |
What's "cringe"?
| |
My comment was a response to a previous comment that has been deleted.
| |
Holy shit, this is awful news.
RIP. He was an awesome guitarist.
