I'm surprised... not bad.
| |
"Hardwired…To Self-Destruct will be a double album with over 80 minutes of music."
will probably be a 2.5
| |
need to check this
| |
the album art is fucking atrocious
https://s4.postimg.io/ftyx9ks6l/image.jpg
| |
Song's fine, nothing more.
| |
its gonna sssssssuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuucccccccccccckkkkkkkkkkk
| |
Am I Savage?
| |
"the album art is fucking atrocious"
don't judge a book by its cover dude
| |
Album cover is AWFUL but fuck y'all this song is amazing
| |
well he didn't judge the book, he judged the cover.
| |
Nice song. Kinda hoping this wont be a let down...
| |
''Yes, you are fucked. Shit out of luck. Now I'm complete and my cock you will ....''
Oh, wait, wrong song.
Never judge a cover by its book.
| |
Song defs better than expected
| |
These title tracks are pure gold
| |
honestly pretty good and i hope to god that isn't the album cover
| |
Metallica double album in 2016 lmao
| |
when will this year of disappointment end...
| |
Video is terrible, song surprisingly sounds like it would fit on Kill 'Em All. Kick sound is atrocious.
| |
its like they tried to replicate justices bass drum tone and failed rly hard cos it sounds retarded
| |
Song is a B with an A+ for effort for trying to return to their roots as men in their 50s. I applaud.
| |
it seems releasing double albums is in fashion
| |
are you sure they didn't accidentally post only half of the song
riff is a bit basic but overall pleasantly immediate and flows pretty well. better than most of death magnetic
| |
also metallica beat tool...surprise surprise
| |
Liked it except the drum was kinda clicky
| |
http://www.sputnikmusic.com/news/36655/Darkthrone-Stream-New-Track/
| |
I'll repeat what I said in the DM thread:
New song sounds pretty dang good to me - the production is great, it's succinct and to the point, riffage is spot on; in other words, good stuff. I'm iffy on the song titles for the rest of the album, but I'm remaining cautiously hopeful since what we just heard is pretty promising.
| |
Not terrible, but so basic.
| |
12 tracks
80 minutes
fuck me here we go
| |
+Under 4 minutes
+James isn't yodeling all over the whole thing
-The profanity sounds kinda forced and cringy
-Lars
Overall, sounds pretty promising. Songs will average at over 6 and a half minutes, though, which makes me a bit hesitant; very few bands, especially at this point in their careers, can pull something like this off. Taking the Iron Maiden route might not work too well for them.
Still, song is a solid 3-3.5 and the album likely will be as well.
| |
track is actually pretty good though
| |
Hey guys simple riffing doesn't = bad riffing. The riffs are BA in this song.
| |
Metllic-ah!
Not bad.
| |
"ManUNkind"
lmao ok
| |
Can't wait to hear "Am I Savage?" lmao.
| |
--Hey guys simple riffing doesn't = bad riffing.--
Yep. Exactly.
| |
05. Am I Savage?
Lol
| |
~~~~TIME FOR METALLICA BINGO~~~~
Look through the comments and see how long it takes to check these off!
[ ] Lars is a bad drummer
[ ] I don't care about Metallicqa
[ ] Everything sucked after Justice
[ ] James can't sing
[ ] The snare sounds horrible
[ ] Album seems bloated
[ ] Production sucks
[ ] Actually not bad all things considered
[ ] Metallica hasn't been good since the 80's
| |
Track titles, album title and cover art are cringey as fuck ('Am I Savage?' sounds like a fitting title to a Macho Man entrance theme).
Feedback for the song seems promising though, will listen to this new Danny Brown and Touche Amore when I get home.
| |
Holy shit, I just saw the album cover.
That. Cannot. Be. Real.
| |
Song was actually bretty good. Better than anything they've put out in like 20 years. James' voice sounds pretty decent and the riffs are simple but catchy.
Those song names though lmao
| |
new Danny Brown??? holy hell.
| |
song is boring, band is old and tired
| |
Tool album confirmed
| |
You have to accept a little bit of cheese with your modern Metallica. If you are really honest, even old Metallica had its share of cheese. Your 12-year old self just was too blind to see it.
| |
Terrible artwork, but the track is actually a really good stripped down thrash song. That fucking kick drum sound is the only thing that bothers me
| |
SUFFER ON TO MY APOCALYPSE !!
| |
track is not bad but these clicky drums are cancer (especially in thrash metal)
| |
the new tool song is pretty good indeed
| |
thrash is bak
| |
my first thought
the best thing in this is.... Lars??!
where is this world coming to
| |
KILL will most likely rate it 2 and all will be good in the world.
| |
thrash lives
| |
Oh hey, this thing is actually coming out.
| |
"song is boring, band is old and tired"
They are in their 50's. Stop your bitching and don't listen then.
| |
Song wasn't too bad but I'm not looking forward to hearing an 80+ minute album with only 12 songs. Glad to hear some aggression though and James didn't do any of his "singing"
| |
Sounds a bit like early Megadeth, does it not? Or perhaps, more specifically, Rust in Peace era Megadeth
| |
Already sounds more raw and badass than DM
| |
band sux song sux
| |
80min/12 songs = 6:40 avg track length.... I want to say that's less then DM and ST. Anger but Idk for sure
| |
Am I savaaaaggee?
I AM MAN!
| |
Copying album art from The Script is not OK.
| |
dug it...that kick is clicky af though
| |
I actually quite like this song. I'm also pleasantly surprised by Lars' performance but, like on Dyers Eve, the double bass and what not were probably looped
| |
dyers eve was all lars
| |
Man the double bass does sound a little too clicky but all in all a surprising song!
| |
The joy. Oh, the fucking joy!!!
| |
"80min/12 songs = 6:40 avg track length.... I want to say that's less then DM and ST. Anger but Idk for sure."
St. Anger is about 6:50, Death Magnetic 7:25
| |
ebola wtf math man
its gonna be long
| |
i'm surprised i thought this was going to be hot garbage.
| |
Straightforward and thrashy, just like Whiplash out of 'Kill 'em All'.
I'm so fucking happy right now!
And this whole 'double album is gonna suck' is exactly what most of you here said about Iron Maiden last year and it ended up being totally awesome. So, at the risk of sounding childish, fuck the sceptics judging before release!
| |
The album might be ok if this is the longest song
80 minutes : (
| |
ehhhhh
| |
Finally got to jam this.................. Goddamn this made my day. They haven't sounded this inspired since..............................
| |
''Yes, you are fucked. Shit out of luck. Now I'm complete and my cock you will ....''
[2]
| |
Also, this is the shortest track they have put on a studio album since Motorbreath holy fuck.
| |
You have to wonder what is stopping 'Tallica from just releasing an album of 10 songs of this sort of tone and length?
It would be unique enough in their discog and it would actually be an enjoyable listen
| |
Pleeeeease Metallica! Announce tour dates soon! Come back to Dubliiiiin!!!
| |
Only thing this song is lacking is Kirk's wah pedal.
| |
song is pretty good
| |
sucks hard lol
| |
I like this quite a bit. Sounds like this will be more of the same after Death Magnetic, and I'm 100% fine with that.
One thing: what the fuck is up with the kick drum sound? Everything else sounds fine, but man, that kick sound is...very processed.
| |
I got really used to that kick drum sound during the Death Magnetic/Lulu cycle.
| |
Literally the worst album art ever
| |
Song isn't bad by any means, but it isn't blowing my mind. But thank god the production is atleast normal here.
| |
Pre-ordered the album and downloaded this song. It sounds better not compressed by Youtube.
| |
Lars bringing the double bass back, thats a surprise.
| |
The best Metallica has sounded since 91.
| |
I'll probably get burned at the stake for this but I actually like the artwork
| |
So so fucking bad.
| |
Seriously? This is lyrical cringe. Sounds like a 13-year-old wrote it.
| |
At least they are trying to get back to their earlier sound. Alright song.
| |
I think I would like the artwork a lot more if it wasn't for a Metallica album.
| |
Song as a whole is good. Solo is actually awful
| |
Okay track.
| |
thrash livez
| |
Ahaha, that album cover! What were they thinking?
| |
that truly is the question
| |
spit on my bone
| |
Pretty decent.
| |
It's nothing special. Riff is fun. My expectations were so low but I have to remind myself that I actually do enjoy DM.
| |
The album cover is basically just an even worse version of the cover of Crowbar's Odd Fellows Rest
| |
I think the album art's kinda cool
| |
Nah. It sucks.
Also interesting is the ellipses in the title. A nod to Megadeth, perhaps?
| |
justice had em but it does look more like a megadeth title
| |
no its cool
| |
its definitely one of the worst album covers i have ever seen but im glad someone appreciates it
| |
The album art is complete utter shit.
| |
i've never listened to a full metallica album in my life
| |
Don't start with this album.
| |
i'll start with the one thats got a red fist on it that one seems angry
| |
Damn, this was unexpected. Old school thrash production and everything.
| |
@Shadowmire it's more like a Megadeth title because there's an ellipses, without a space, between two words. Seems a bit too precise to be a coincidence. I wonder why they did that.
@gryndstone get on Master of Puppets ASAP.
| |
Lars is a bad drummer. I don't care about Metallicqa. Everything sucked after Justice. James can't sing. The snare sounds horrible. Album seems bloated. Production sucks. Actually not bad all things considered. Metallica hasn't been good since the 80's.
| |
crap.....80 minutes of it no less
| |
I'm going for Ride The Lightning first, and of course Master of Puppets is next
| |
ManUNkind lmao
| |
Yeah start with their best album and then go to the overrated one. Don't forget about Kill 'Em All.
| |
Yeah I'm really digging this actually, rules
| |
"Hardwired…To Self-Destruct will be a double album with over 80 minutes of music."
Thought torture like that was condemned by the UN or something. Jesus
| |
terrible song. super generic riffs and bad vocals. they are so obviously forcing themselves to be "thrash" again because they know it's what people want them to be. complete fan service bullshit
| |
Horrible, just fucking Horrible! More of the same crap we've been getting from them for years. Bad Drums even worse Vocals. Time for them to give it up already! Fuck, good thing Megadeth, Anthrax, Exodus and Overkill are putting out decent stuff not like this pooh!
| |
mediocre at best. 2.5/5
| |
Would probably give this a 4.2/5. Honestly I'm very happy with what they gave us with this track.
| |
I would be happier if they disband.
| |
That album art really isn't that bad tbh. You guys hyped it up to be completely terrible. At WORST its just weird looking.
| |
songs pretty cool tbh
even some double bass lololol
| |
That album art really isn't that bad [2]
I kinda like it.
| |
These guys have nothing creative to offer the world anymore. But honestly, it could be worse. This is just like the tired and generic slayer of modern years, a boring but recognizable shadow of it's old self. It's not Lulu or St Anger.
| |
The drums sound absolutely awful and the lyrics are terrible which is predictable, but I love the riff.
| |
Sucked pretty hard. Think they could play those 2 riffs anymore? The one literally just repeats over and over again. My shitty High School band wrote more technical riffs.
| |
The main thing that annoys me about this is that they're probably going to make a lot more money out of this than Vektor will with TR.
| |
Songs not that bad. Don't know if a 80 minute plus metallica album will be that great tho
| |
Idk, I like the song quite a bit honestly.
Maybe that is because of how low the bar was set though.
| |
album cover rules
| |
Best sounding track they've done in a decade. Not too shabby
| |
ManUNkind
such tasty sillyness
| |
Actually made it through the whole song! 2.5/5
| |
Some Geoff Tate level shit right there.
| |
As a guitar song, this sounds super fun to play.
As an actual song it's eh. Repetitive, the chorus is weeeeak and album art stinks so uh...slightly optimistic but not really? :P
| |
1 riff song, but the riff isn't that bad at least
| |
Death Magnetic pt 2 incoming.
Song was pretty good in all honesty.
| |
Cranked up in better quality than youtube it sounds pretty good, bridge riff is pretty much That Was Just Your Life.
I just don't see how the biggest metal band on earth has such shite production now.
| |
idk why it would matter that they are the biggest band tbh
| |
Because they could get any equipment/studio/producer on the face of the earth to record/mix their albums?
| |
you dont need the best producers to have a good mix nowadays tho. thats been like this for 15 years or so now boi.
| |
Cos it's what hip nowadays I spose lol, drums are obnoxiously loud as per usual but the riffing is pretty fun.
| |
The production on the youtube video is 100x better then the production on DM and St. Anger.
| |
Sounds better on Spotify man but that drum triggering is unnecessary.
| |
"you dont need the best producers to have a good mix nowadays tho. thats been like this since 15 years or so now boi."
Yeah that is true, but whats the deal then! I find it pretty comparable to My Apocolypse, A little harder hitting but still loud as hell drums.
| |
It's not a bad song. It's just bland and basic.
| |
I'm pleased to hear that Metallica's finally released news on their newest release! However, I'm rather confused as to why there's a video of "That Was Just Your Life" on here.
| |
gmork they obviously dont want a "perfect" production but their signature pingy metallic clean sound that they had at least since and justice for all.
| |
It's okay but basically DM 2.0
| |
tinny is another adjective i would use
| |
I'm not saying they need perfect production, I just think this sounds weird like DM did, I really think this, DM and St Anger are their only bad sounding ones.
Really that's just from this one song though so the album could be different. Just sounds like a very basic clean production, not a lot of personality to it.
Tinny is a good descriptor yeah.
| |
This riff absolutely rips.
| |
Since this band got me into metal when i bought master of puppets on cassette in 93, and loved them ever since, my opinion might come off as a little bias.... But im being completely neutral when I say this..... This song fucking slays. Its like a modern day battery/fight fire with fire. And if the general consensus on this site is it is a good/solid/average song, that means its definitely very good because sputnik hates on Metallica 1000%.
| |
Average track. 80 minutes of this? No thanks.
| |
It's cool that they're trying to thrash and all but that song was kinda weak, My Apocalypse was better
| |
Drums should have started playing half the tempo of the rest of the song at 1:53
| |
yeah, I'm definitely digging this right now. Best they've sounded in two decades quite honestly.
| |
All of the negative comments about the song and artwork are giving me cancer. Bland and basic? What are we comparing it to? I dig it and will be getting the record. Album art is an irrelevant thing to complain about, anyways. There's nothing wrong with this. Death Magnetic gets too much hate and so far, this song does as well.
| |
This riff absolutely rips.
| |
cute SB129
| |
SB129, i agree with you 100% and im buying/downloading this midnight
| |
When it drops
| |
Art is shockingly bad. Wtf.
| |
"that means its definitely very good because sputnik hates on Metallica 1000%."
They have 3 of the highest rated albums on the whole site...
| |
its alright
album cover is terrible
| |
Album art kinda reminds me of Cradles' God speed on the devils thunder
| |
"Bland and basic? What are we comparing it to?"
Well for starters, we'd compare it to the rest of their discog; their first four albums did the same style but with more energy and better songwriting (this is basically the same style they've been using since the 80's, but bear bones and stripped to 3 minutes).
To go further, we'd compare it to basically any other thrash album in existence, by which it--in 2016--appears by comparison to be fairly generic. Now, being generic in style isn't awful as long as the style is well-executed (see: basically every popular/acclaimed melodeath band), buuuuuut I think you'd have a tough time arguing that about this particular track. Drums don't sound great (where's the bass drum?), lyrics are typical lulzy modern Metallica, guitars don't have a *great* sound (better than Death Magnetic, but not amazingly good), and the soloing was fairly uninteresting.
On top of that, the song (as I said before) just sounds like a dumbed down version of their latter-day 80's material, missing all the prog fanciness that made them the top dogs they were. The average song-length seems to come out as a little under 7-minutes, though, so hopefully this is just one of the shorter tracks and they haven't totally dumbed down their songwriting in some attempt at capturing the raw minimalism of tr00 thrash.
| |
Just Re-release the Black album and Tour on that for another 6 to 8 years...What a disappointing song. DM 2 here we go!
| |
That was really is rubbish. That drumming is god awful.
| |
Can't they afford a good graphic designer ?
| |
Metallica have no idea how to produce albums, people are so surprised that this sounds awful. It's because Lars and James insist on micromanaging every aspect of the albums sound. RTL and MOP were the only 2 good sounding albums they ever made in terms of production. Even the Bob Rock stuff sounded overproduced.
They should not be allowed to mix full stop.
| |
Extremely average.
| |
ManUNkind
| |
smh
| |
Song is better than I expected but they still fall far short of anything they wrote back in the day as well as their peers from across the seas (bands like Sodom and Kreator).
This new band Vektor is killing it. That's what thrash needs
| |
Loved it. Didn't think they had it in them anymore.
| |
It's happening
| |
Everything about this is terrible.
| |
Drums sound better than Death Magnetic so far. This song ain't bad. Just a straight forward, dad-thrash track.
| |
It's just ok. Not great but not bad. But then again I haven't listened to a Metallica album made this millennium. More excited for new Suicidal Tendencies but will probs still give this one a listen when it comes out.
| |
good for this century, ok for their standards
| |
whoa they used an actual snare drum
| |
Gmork, use your head. Im not talking bout metallica 30 years ago. Im talkin about post 80s metallica.
| |
This is pretty generic sounding but it probably works better in the context of the album.
| |
these kids are pretty okay but i wish they'd go back to the sound of their first album
| |
nothing special. wish james wasn't such a shitty uninspired vocalist
| |
When they tour for this, they better bring Vektor with them everywhere they go.
| |
no fuck that i don't want to pay 150 bucks for vektor tickets
| |
lol i just heard this on facebook and it sounds way better than it does on youtube. fuck youtube and their god awful audio compression. still like a 2.8
| |
that kick drum sounds like he's hitting a fucking couch cushion
| |
Yeah the kick sounds pretty awful
| |
Sounds like a clever little one-day radio hit.
Kill 'em All style track, main riff is modded Enter Sandman and Kirk's solo has never been more forgettable.
Over 80 minutes of this? I hope they include a management summary with the album.
| |
Kirk's solo was a huge disappointment yeah.
| |
"
Sounds like a clever little one-day radio hit.
Kill 'em All style track, main riff is modded Enter Sandman and Kirk's solo has never been more forgettable.
Over 80 minutes of this? I hope they include a management summary with the album."
mate fuck off your talking out your ass attempting to sound intelligent jog on
| |
Can't wait for my dad to tell me this is the best album of the year.
Song was good though. Questioning whether I'm hearing the drum rhythm right or not but I can see it doing decently well.
| |
Kirk hasn't written a good solo since AJFA, so I am happy that the solo was 15 seconds long.
| |
lol the main riff sounds absolutely nothing like enter sandman.
| |
Sounds like 1 bland riff repeated for 3 minutes with a bland solo attached to it.
| |
not a fan
| |
Not bad but nothing special either. Not a representative sample though since it's an energetic 3-minute track on an album that probably consists of 6 and 7 minute songs.
Cover art is pretty awful. Who the hell decides for this shit?
| |
"Gmork, use your head. Im not talking bout metallica 30 years ago. Im talkin about post 80s metallica."
So by 1000% you actually meant 50% of the time. Compares this song to Battery and Fight Fire with Fire and then tells me to use my head ffs.
| |
Load/Reload were great no matter what others say. Those Southern-tinged tracks really suit them, especially Hetfield's voice.
| |
Not too bad at all, hmmm but yea that cover is poops
| |
Gonna be at least a 3 fam.
| |
''Sounds like 1 bland riff repeated for 3 minutes with a bland solo attached to it.''
sounds like...
| |
Thing is, if any other band put this out people would endlessly rip it.
| |
"Load/Reload were great no matter what others say."
Yeah they are both really good albums, Volbeat made a career off of that sound too. It's easy to hear 2X4 or Hero of the Day being Volbeat tracks.
| |
Mehtallica
| |
WE'RE SO FUCKED
| |
"We are so fucked
shit out of luck"
Did he just copy this line from Beelzeboss from Tenacious D ?
| |
It's good.
| |
It's fairly solid. Not close to mind blowing, but at least they're headed back in a good direction. Sounded more like some old songs in a blender than truly inspired material. Like they had a listening session with their 80's records and ripped themselves off.
| |
New Metallica album? WE'RE SO FUCKED SHIT OUT OF LUCK.
That was super boring and the solo is just atrocious
| |
Very good !
| |
Actually pretty good, and thank god Lords of Summer is not on here.
| |
its on the deluxe edition
| |
Wtf? Are you guys fucking stupid?
| |
metallica won't be good again until james stops wailing like a goat-ah!
| |
Wtf? Are you guys fucking stupid?
| |
kill em all or die
| |
they should have stopped at the black album
| |
metallica was a mistake
| |
- jason newsted
| |
Lol my q remains ov
| |
lol 3 comments who are you??????
| |
Yes we are all fucking stupid, nobody has braincells on this site according to you.
Happy?
| |
Song is unexpectedly decent.
That said, the sound is poor, when compared to Metallica's '80s behemoths.
| |
And this still rules
| |
After relistining a few times the song just becomes worse for me, most of the guitar work is just boring and the solo doesn't help. Still stoked for the album tho, be it good or bad.
| |
actually im pretty glad metallica the greatest band of all time objectively brought mr fti back from the dead to comment on sputnikmusic.com again
| |
Not going to read this thread because I'm sure it's all over the place. I just wanted to say that I enjoyed this song.
| |
eh it's decent
| |
not terrible at all...
| |
"METAL. ABSOLUTELY METAL. Fantastic production. Fast. Aggressive. Everything we've been wanting from Metallica just hit us in the face. LOVE IT."
top rated Ultimate-guitar comment lol
| |
This feels like My Apocalypse part II
| |
Nothing like a 53 year old writing chorus of "we are so fucked... shit out of luck" lol.
oh well.... nostalgia
| |
This song has a good vibe, but the song writing isn't that great and the hook lyrics are corny
| |
better than I expected, count me excited
| |
The song is good. The Sputnik userbase is definitely not the place to get an unbiased opinion. There are people nitpicking on the smallest, stupidest, details. These are the people that would very obviously be bitching no matter what Metallica released.
| |
o fuk
| |
#TRUTH
| |
enlighten us to what a 53 year old's lyrics should be.
| |
The secret underbelly of AARP, the constant chafe of Depends, the endless wait for social security, and a ballad about Viagra.
| |
Hey kids, get off my lawn and pull up those trousers.
| |
Trent still writes angsty lyrics and no one gives him flak for it. And it's thrash I don't get why people still expect Bob Dylan tier poetry to spew out
| |
ppl giving trent flak for his lyrics man are you living under a rock?
| |
It is more Metallica than Metallica 'has been'. Video is a headache though!
| |
"a ballad about Viagra"
I'd die laughing
| |
Band has done things both beautiful and terrible musically. This sounded to me like a bridge between the worst song on Justice and B-side tracks from the Metallica album. I'm not expecting much and maybe I won't be disappointed this time.
| |
Song is just decent. Not too bad but nothing special either. I want to believe that it's not a representative sample of what the album would sound like. Looking forward to listen to the longer songs of the record.
| |
Decent stuff and pretty much what we can expect from Metallica at this point.
song is okay.
not excited about this at all tbh (even if it ends up being an amazing album)
| |
dumb pretentious title
aging, uninteresting band
miserable album artwork
pretty meh lead single
lars ulrich is involved
I'll pass thanks
| |
I always laugh at how Lars does these really intense facial expressions as though to indicate his drumming actually requires skill
| |
I lol'ed so fucking hard at the album art
| |
wow gilly the rancor is real
| |
hetfield is clearly dead inside tho, assuming he wrote the lyrics
| |
That cover is awful. Song is ok.. sounds like DM though. Drums are terrible and the production sucks. And James is cringe worthy. My hype is low now
| |
what do you expect of broken man in their 50s. this sounds like they want another go at the thrash spirit and i respect that.
| |
I always laugh at how Lars does these really intense facial expressions as though to indicate his drumming actually requires skill [2]
I always laugh at live footage when James is hyping the crowd up with his "YEAH"'s and then Lars gets on mic and just deflates the whole room. "Uhm, yeah uh hi let's play some metal for you mother f-fuckers"
| |
This new song was alright. It's no Motorbreath, but an ok short song by them.
Not overly excited by the album though.
| |
And the cover is absolutely ridiculous yeah
| |
I always laugh at live footage when James is hyping the crowd up with his "YEAH"'s and then Lars gets on mic and just deflates the whole room. "Uhm, yeah uh hi let's play some metal for you mother f-fuckers"
This made me laugh, so true.
| |
sounds good, haters will hate regardless
song titles are actually really bad though
| |
Not as bad as their more recent stuff but still kinda...eh. Neither looking forward to nor loathing the idea of a new album.
Same as new Green Day in that kinda way
| |
Hopefully they still mess around with more experimental and orchestral things on it instead of simply 80 minutes of straightforward thrash. God knows we don't need 2 Master of Puppets when we can still just re-listen to the one.
| |
And this still rules
| |
Lars is seriously killing it for once. That double omg
| |
"I always laugh at live footage when James is hyping the crowd up with his "YEAH"'s and then Lars gets on mic and just deflates the whole room. "Uhm, yeah uh hi let's play some metal for you mother f-fuckers"
this comment pleases me a lot
| |
Why?
| |
Not bad, not great either. Sounds like traditional Metallica, which is good, even if it does sound completely phoned in.
Considering how disappointing the last few Megadeth albums have been, I will be willing to give this a shot. I hope there's more dynamic songwriting on the other tracks.
| |
This is pretty old school sounding, so that's a good start. If it had the raspy production from the 80s and some harsher vocals and maybe a bit faster it would be significantly better.
| |
Decent at best. Drums sound weird. Gonna stick to the 80's stuff.
| |
Song's pretty sweet.
| |
The line "we're so fucked, shit out of luck" ruined the entire song for me. Those lyrics are so generic and cheesy. I would probably love it otherwise.
| |
There is a rumor going around now that this track is actually like six and a half minutes and this video is just the single version.
"Rob [Trujillo] is still downstairs right now redoing the bass and one of the verses on one of the songs," Ulrich says. "People go, 'What do you think of the record?' And I don't even know because it's not even done yet." -from a recent Rolling Stone article.
| |
Kick drums sounds weird as fuck though. There's no consistency to it.
| |
Average song is average. Still the best thing they've ever done though.
| |
Angry, I love you man.
But Metallica is one of those bands that has consistently bored me for years.
| |
Dude this is honestly the best thing I've ever heard from Metallica, at best this is a 3/5.
Riffs are nice but the drums and vocals are just boring and honestly a bit annoying.
| |
"I mean they have the most boring vocalist on the face of the planet"
This is the furthest thing from the truthhaaaaaahhhh. Watch like any Metallica performance everraaaahhhh.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MIP8HWtIfDs
| |
snide XD controversial XD
| |
Being bored by Metallica isn't controversial?
A lot of people don't like them.
| |
You guys are beginning to trigger me.
| |
darrel duboy with another classic line XD
| |
I'm sorry, but calling the guy who yelled 'I AM THE TABLE' boring is just blasphemy. James as a vocalist is probably one of the most musically and comically entertaining things I can think of, especially Damaged Justice tour - present. Not to mention he was fucking ferocious on Kill em All and No life till Leather.
| |
agreed love hetfield
he sounds very flat here though, doesnt approach the commanding sound on their original thrash records
| |
yea i think myself and most metallica fans love his vocals though
| |
Metallica sounds a lot better live then in the studio and I feel like it's been that way their whole career.
Well except Lars but I think he holds up a lot better then most people want to admit.
| |
Song is average and i dont think i could stomach a double album of this caliber.
| |
I'm actually liking this the more I jam it. The only thing I really dont like is the solo
| |
^ ^ ^ Same, don't mind the solo tho. Too short if anything.
| |
OK. On first listen I wasn't really into it. Thought it was just OK. On second listen I'm liking it more. Once that riff switches up, the song picks up steam and it starts getting real good IMO.
| |
I actually like the song
| |
The song is alright, nothing exiting but for me this already sounds better than the last album.
Doesn't matter right? its still going to the the "Best metal record of the year" for some reason.
| |
Song is pretty decent tbh 3/5
| |
The titles to the tracks are horrendous.
| |
this song is meh, i heard trapped under ice has real riffs
| |
| |
never heard thx for the link
| |
sweeet
| |
KILL has the best taste in thrash so whatever he says goes, or deal with me!
| |
Im not sure why anyone is remotely excited, these crusty old bastards passed their expiration date in the mid 90's, but if this turns out to be even half decent i will be floored
| |
welcome to current metallica
| |
Despite any other criticism, I've had the song stuck in my head for almost two days now.
| |
The verses are so bad...It's like Hetfield recorded them in 10 minutes and didn't bother again
| |
For anyone who wasn't thrilled by this song - it was written and recorded in a week, so the rest of the album is very likely better.
| |
I'm gonna go ahead and be the first (possibly) to say I love the album artwork.
That's right, hardcore Sputniks. Do your worst. ^_^
| |
These days artwork is a non-issue. Metallica just brings out the hyper-critical bitches in a way no other band can.
| |
A week to write and record this track? If you'd told me they did it in an hour i'd believe you and be more understanding of the songs mediocrity but a bloody week and this is all they could come up with
| |
Boring and predictable. After 8 damn years, it simply isn't good enough.
| |
I'm ok with the instrumentation but dislike the vocal lines.
| |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GNfjU8gC5eo
| |
GmorK, would you stop. Im not talking about their sound, Im talking about a lot of users on sputnik that automatically hate on everything metallica does or has done since ajfa/black album.
| |
I always forget how much Lars sucks at drums.
| |
Even tho I been a die hard metallica fan for 20+ years, even in their hey day, he was an average drummer at best.
| |
It gets boring. where are the Metallica riffs?
| |
Despite of some flaws it has enjoyable moments, is decent but not outstanding
| |
Pretty good, production is quite a bit clearer than DM so that's something.
"pleasantly immediate"
^The single most sputnikmusic thing ever written.
| |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VjcDHVg-u-c
| |
even with this well made trailer, the downhill is obvious.
| |
it's funny how short the clips from load/reload era are XD
| |
I know, they were like "here's our first five...and anyways here's the new album!"
| |
hahaha
| |
"^The single most sputnikmusic thing ever written."
lmfao
| |
Song is badass. Best band in the world. Haters can blow me.
| |
nobody wants to blow you conors
| |
"Some Geoff Tate level shit right there."
That's probably the most negative remark I've seen in this thread, lol. I didn't think it was THAT bad
| |
Okay honestly I'm getting really hyped the more I think about it
| |
The live version sounds better but song is still meh
| |
It's kinda like a generic version of Damage Inc. Song has a lot of potential but they don't take advantage of it.
| |
"That's probably the most negative remark I've seen in this thread, lol."
Haha I mostly meant the song titles, ManUNkind sounds exactly like a song title Geoff would use.
| |
I cringe at any song title with an exclamation mark in it
| |
Also, elipsis.
| |
Oh yeah, that shit too
| |
nobody wants to blow you conors
That's not what yo momma said
Ohohohoh lel kek
| |
For those who care:
| |
Sweet, I love watching stuff like this. Even if the song sucks
| |
song is meh-okay. the solo was objectively shit
| |
song is the ultimate incarnation of mediocrity
| |
I like it. I wonder if i will like 80 minutes, though.
| |
Pretty good, as someone that likes all-eras of Metallica (except that one time....).
Generic riff and kick drum is terrible (drum triggers are bad, mmmkay), but I like the overall sound and production. Much improved from Death "Brickwall" Magnetic. Preordered the vinyl.
| |
Let's just love this. I doubt they'll get any better.
| |
@LepreCon
no, she said she doesn't like small cocks
| |
Can't wait
| |
this song was fine
| |
by golly I've been trolled
| |
