THE HYPE IS REAL
| |
This just in...it's great.
| |
everyone put on your raincoats
| |
Oh shit I'll be busy
| |
yep yep. exciting stuff. pretty decent so far
| |
worst since ok comp
| |
nah fam
| |
it's pretty fucking great
| |
worst since *bends
| |
Why the fuck is True Love Waits on it? I mean it's a good song, but that's been around and available to the public since I Might Be Wrong: Live Recordings
| |
lol Ars if you have a problem with old songs being reworked stop listening to Radiohead
also why do you have a problem with old songs being reworked
| |
i like the other version better tbh
| |
I'm fine with old songs being reworked, but to close a new studio album with one of Radiohead's already most well known non-LP tracks is pretty lame.
That'd be like if RHCP's new album ended with like Soul to Squeeze.
| |
how is it lame when this is literally a song fans have been waiting for and asking to put on an album since before the turn of the century
| |
This is seriously great. Standouts are Glass Eyes, The Numbers and Tinker Tailor Soldier etc, etc.
| |
"how is it lame when this is literally a song fans have been waiting for and asking to put on an album since before the turn of the century"
So you're saying they gave in to their fans? That's actually even lamer... Rowan you're making me even sadder stop it.
| |
To be clear, hasn't True Love Waits only ever had live recordings?
| |
How dare they use one of the best tracks they ever wrote and make literally 99.9% of their fans happy in the process! absolutely shocking reprehensible behaviour 0/10
| |
shut up ars
| |
damn people are already bitching about this
| |
How dare they use one of the best tracks they ever wrote and make literally 99.9% of their fans happy in the process! absolutely shocking reprehensible behaviour 0/10

| |
new version is arguably better for me anyway
| |
agreed I prefer it too
| |
This rules hard
| |
Really impressed with it on first listen. Hope it grows on me a little more
| |
best cover art so far
| |
listening now
| |
yeah new version is better imo...more chill inducing
| |

| |
The Numbers is amazing
| |
probably their worst album so far
| |
So you're saying they gave in to their fans? That's actually even lamer... Rowan you're making me even sadder stop it.
pretty good for a bunch of c-sides
| |
Is this streaming anywhere??
| |
Burn the witch is the weakest track here imo, the rest is amazing
| |
Nah Desert Island Disk prob is
| |
JESUS CHRIST ITS GOOD HAHA LITERAL TEARS
| |
yea overall pretty huge disappointment when u take into account their recent works. but still good.
| |
yeah huge disappointment agreed, how dare they release this rubbish.....lmao
| |
Not a disappointment but it hasn't blown me away at all
| |
"yeah huge disappointment agreed, how dare they release this rubbish.....lmao"
why are you trying so hard to be stupid as fuck i dont get it
| |
cant wait until your next retarded '2nd quarter' list or some shit, filled with garbage that nobody has heard, with this at like 87
| |
LMAO
| |
it's a great album but if you expect Kid A every time they release a record it's your own fault that it disappoints.
that's not really directed toward anyone, just a trend i'm noticing among my friends who have listened and immediately compared to past work that will likely never be topped
| |
I'm fairly blown away, honestly. It's so dynamic - almost every song shifts and evolves in a meaningful way and it's got that lush sound that my favorite Radiohead stuff has always had.
I also don't dislike any of the tracks, which doesn't happen often. Also, the strings on this album... hnnnggg
| |
the strings indeed
| |
Burn the witch is the worst song here agreed
| |
Really looking forward to getting on this but James Blake got released first so it'll have to wait a week or so.
| |
I didnt know what to think the first time.. Now that I have heard each song 2 or 3 times I think it is a beautiful album ( Usually what happens with each new radiohead album). Each song is so complex and different. Decks Dark, the numbers, present tense and Tinker Tailor are the highlights for me
| |
Man, I like Burn The Witch, but on my first listen through I wish Daydreaming was the opener.
| |
Can't wait to listen to this.
| |
It's awesome
| |
Tracks are in alphabetical order??
| |
Lol ^ can't believe that but it's true
| |
Identikit is eargasmic
| |
Yeah, this is pretty goddamn excellent. I reckon the hardcore fans are gonna agree this is the best one since In Rainbows. For me, it's on par with Hail To The Thief, just under The Bends.
| |
Lol at the alphabetical order. Also, can't get over at the strings coming in on The Numbers
| |
Dibs on first "Here is how I would order the tracks on AMSP" list
| |
Album's way better than King of Limbs.
Impressed with this.
"Full Stop" is incredible.
| |
Wow I'm even sorta digging it
| |
Kind of excited to hear this even though I've never loved any of their stuff before.
| |
Easily a top 5 Radiohead album, would bang.
| |
SO much better than TKOL.
| |
great songs, weird-ass final sequencing choice
is the point that you're supposed to do your own sequencing or did they really think this was the best order? cos honestly the feeling i get after Daydreaming ends is the same sorta feeling i'll get when i'm like, on the penultimate track of a record, not the 2nd
| |
Have some patience bellends.
| |
I dearly hope we get a From The Basement session of this
| |
The Numbers really reminds me of something melodically...possibly a Led Zeppelin song, can't place it exactly yet
Irrespective it's an awesome tune
| |
Actually it does kind of sound like The Rain Song combined with The Daily Mail.
Identikit is slowly growing on me.
| |
identikit was the most immediate track on here for me aside from Burn the Witch & Decks Dark
| |
Ful Stop ad Burn The Witch are fantastic. As well as Identikit.
| |
Surprised there isn't a review for this already lol
| |
I was thinking the same thing actually
| |
I tried to set up a sweepstake to guess how many hours until the first review goes up
| |
If I was a betting man I'd say another two hours or so.
| |
I give it a minute
| |
Any review that's posted before Friday is likely gonna get lynched
| |
r u fucking kidding me
| |
It'll get trashed then a staff member will review it and it'll get flagged.
| |
"The Numbers really reminds me of something melodically...possibly a Led Zeppelin song, can't place it exactly yet
Irrespective it's an awesome tune"
WORD that's what i said
it's bugging me a lot
| |
time to guess what the average will settle at
my money's on a flat 4
| |
4.2
| |
Don't have have the money to buy this at the minute and there's no stream, dammit!
| |
The way that sort of fluttering piano wavers in and out of "The Numbers" mmmmm yum
| |
it's streaming on tidal if you hate yourself enough to have a tidal subscription like I do
| |
just pirate it pleb you daft git
| |
This is their most unmemorable album. Doubt it will catch on for me, but maybe.
| |
this is definitely another radiohead album that I admire more than I enjoy
the production of the piano in glass eyes is basically the best thing I've heard this year
| |
"can we please use this as the discussion thread and not that absolute garbage review that's going to be taken down in a day or two"
aaaaaaaand it's gone
| |
this sure sounds like a radiohead album
| |
I haven't liked anything they've done since "Kid A," but I'm actually liking this. My only real complaint is that it's a bit...monotone, I guess, for lack of a better word; most of the songs are really similar in "mood" and tempo.
Still quite enjoyable, though. "Glass Eyes" is beautiful.
| |
Jesus, Present Tense progresses so beautifully. And Decks Dark is one of my favorite songs from them now.
| |
why are no reviews allowed to be posted for an album that's already purchasable?
| |
cant wait until your next retarded '2nd quarter' list or some shit, filled with garbage that nobody has heard, with this at like 87
rekt!!!!!!
| |
new radiohead album and every single nerd on this site goes nuts
| |
there are only nerds on this site :/
| |
Yawn
| |
so fucking boring
| |
So far the singles are the best part for me. I'll have to give it a few more spins though for sure. Seems like a lot of the songs are just... there, and they don't go anywhere or do anything special. I'm sure there are a lot of layers and things I missed, but first impression was fairly weak for me.
| |
I want to say it's a boring album, but every song is so blissful and beautiful, this is actually fantastic
| |
Man whenever those orchestral female vocals kick in Decks Dark with Thom's vocals over them, I lose my shit. Out of this world. Pure bliss.
| |
I have never listened to a Radiohead in full, and I'm not about to start now. It's too late for me.
| |
well they are dad rock after all
| |
I think it's kind of bogus how Radiohead released this new album what with bands basically giving away albums today for free nowadays, $11 for a digital release? No thanks.
| |
"I think it's kind of bogus how Radiohead released this new album what with bands basically giving away albums today for free nowadays, $11 for a digital release? No thanks."
Yes, a famous, established, and well respected band who uses high production and studios should totally give their albums away as if they're a lo-fi bandcamp project. This makes sense.
| |
Not gonna lie, I was hoping it would be free. I did buy it.
| |
"I think it's kind of bogus how Radiohead released this new album what with bands basically giving away albums today for free nowadays, $11 for a digital release? No thanks."
Yeah, gosh, heaven forbid you actually invest in art instead of being one of the countless leaches who think they have a right to engage with art without giving anything back. After all, a dollar a song really breaks the bank.
| |
No they should give it a way for free to the fans.
Because as a fan I demand, I want and I expect. Radiohead aren't a band they are a commodity and as a customer I want them to deliver.
Album is rubbish anyway. Jam TDAG.
| |
I was just saying as a digital release I'm not interested in paying $11. I would gladly purchase an actual physical copy for that same amount.
| |
We'll wait for the plaintiff(s) to respond in 1.5 years
| |
but there is a physical copy
multiple formats, even!
| |
