I think 13 is a good enough swansong for the band. Lets them finish with Ozzy, as they started (although it would've been nice to have Bill involved too), and with a critically praised album. It's not really worth risking the mid 80s/early 90s rut that they'd previously ended with (nobody needs another "Forbidden" although we'll probably get a remaster if Tony has his way).
| |
"The Ozzman also stated that another record would take 3-4 years to complete"
the fuck
i guess times have changed since when they were pumping out 4 and 5 classic records in that amount of time
| |
.
| |
This is kinda old news, but I guess it needed to be said here. It's kinda sad to here that the band that recorded Black Sabbath in one day would expect to take years to make another album. Maybe it's just age, who knows
| |
Easier for one man to complete a vision than a group, all with differing ranges of musical ability and health.
| |
They records the debut in 1 day? Did this include Wicked World or not?
Also I'm a bit disappointed, but hey I still haven't gotten to 13 so whatever...
| |
if inspiration ain't there don't force it
| |
"no actually its currently 1971 didnt you hear"
sweet
| |
that's a damn shame
| |
You hit the nail on the head LPFTW.
Bowie is 68
Ozzy and Iommi are 67, and Geezer is 66...
| |
David Bowie comparisons are idiotic
| |
sucks to hear but whatever. just put 100% into the world tour and they can stick a cap in one of the greatest musical careers ever
| |
bowie may be old too but he didnt drink a forty of jack daniels and snort 10gs of blow every day for 15 decades
| |
"David Bowie comparisons are idiotic"
Probably, but I bothered to look up all 4 of their ages so fuck it.
| |
"bowie may be old too but he didnt drink a forty of jack daniels and sort 10gs of blow every day for 15 decades"
He was a heroin addict though.
| |
And Bowie's the exception to the rule AND he's one guy. He doesn't need to rely on his drummer or bassist being as healthy as him to record, he can hire the best session musician in an instant. He works at his pace and nobody else's. Sabbath can only work as fast as the weakest chain and it only takes 1 or 2 members being chronically ill, not feeling well, having family emergencies or deciding just to live life in old age to make recording an album a process that could take years.
| |
David Bowie comparisons are idiotic [2]
| |
a coke addict for awhile too i was jkin :]]]
| |
Tony Iommi also had to deal with cancer which will bring forward any retirement
| |
dam
| |
thought this was old news but whatever
| |
13 is a fine conclusion, don't see what a new album would do for them anyway.
| |
old news but still fucking stupid of them not to make it
| |
All these David Bowie comparisons are pointless, he transcended the status of a human being when he released Blackstar.
| |
I mean the tour dates were announced before but this article about Ozzy was published yesterday, at the very least that was news. I never heard anything before about the album being cancelled, on here or otherwise so I thought it deserved a news article.
I was bummed when I found this out, but on the bright side it keeps the harmony of ending 13 with the weather atmospheres that began the first Black Sabbath album, nice sense of completion for their career. I'm definitely hoping to catch them on tour when they come to Mass.
| |
"another record would take 3-4 years to complete"
wut
| |
GOOD fuck this band
| |
wahao
| |
torts has Master of reality 2.5'd
-torts
| |
First Rush is most likely retiring, and now Sabbath : / At least I have a chance of seeing Sabbath live before they fully retire though.
| |
1: new bowies not hype
2: fuck!!! I really needed way more ozzy
| |
"torts has Master of reality 2.5'd"
yea because it fucking blows
| |
Master of Reality is probably the best metal album ever made
| |
LOL good one
| |
cause BLACK SABBATH IS TRVE METAL \M///////
| |
No, because it's a very enjoyable album.
| |
what people find enjoyable about this band is the absolute most confusing thing
| |
I don't get it are you trying to be edgy or something?
It's bass heavy well made 70s hard rock that heavily influenced the entire metal genre.
| |
Ars be careful here, you might cut yourself on his edge
| |
im not even trying to be edgy I've just never got the band. shitty vocals, bland instrumentation, all I hear
| |
user named TalonsOfFire is calling me edgy you might wanna take a step back
| |
It's not a pokemon reference if that's what you're implying, a lot of users make that mistake. Even if you're not I've had a lot more positive comments made about my name than negative, and speaking of which how did you arrive at torts? I've wondered that since I first saw you post.
| |
Gentlemen, a rose by any other name
| |
I had to study tort law in my philosophy of law class, one of the most complicated subjects we studied for sure.
| |
Also not pickin sides and not sayin I don't believe you but anyone who'd go out of their way to compliment a name like talonsonfire is a cunt
| |
lol it was a middle school nickname and I couldn't think of anything else at the time, it also seemed fitting to me since I was very into metal back then. I still like it but have thought about changing it a lot ever since, but can't decide on anything else. User Feather also recommended that I keep it, since he realized that changing his name made a lot of people not know who he was around here anymore.
| |
black sabbath suck but experimental pioneers death grips redefined music agreed
| |
worst user of 2015 award goes to
| |
Here's hoping to an Iommi solo album, then. Get Bill Ward back in behind the kit and grab some other old guy (Ian Gillan?) to pick up where Heaven and Hell left off. Get on that, Tony.
| |
i need to hear those Iommi riffs doe
| |
Iommi solo album would be rad, we do need to hear his riffs.
| |
who else is catching them on the final tour?
| |
Who's drumming for them? Is it still Brad Wilk?
| |
I'd assume it's Tommy Clufetos, he's been the touring drummer for the recent tours. Brad Wilk was only on for the album.
| |
"He was a heroin addict though."
Naw man it was coke.
| |
terrible idea Zaruyache, that failed quickly the first time, if these guys cant get it together, they should be done with the Sabbath name before the legacy gets hurt more than what the 80's did to it
| |
one last tour would be epic tho and take less effort on their part, just have to show up and play
they came through last time and i missed them which i regret terribly so i hope they come back
| |
yeah hopefully those riffs/songs(?) Iommi has will find a way to be recorded and released at some point, if Butler and Osbourne really don't have it in them to come together and make a 13 follow-up. A few Black Sabbath albums beginning with Seventh Star could be argued as being Iommi solo albums as well.
| |
These guys aren't obligated to make music for us js. If it happens it happens, if it doesn't it doesn't. As long as it ends on a high note then that's all that matters.
| |
id rather see them not than make something completely lackluster since their hearts arent in it
they are the grandfathers of metal and put out a solid final album in 13, let them rejoice in what they have done
| |
I've got tickets for the tour, but I'd still like to see another album. Come on, Geezer.
| |
GEEEZERRRRRR
| |
Talk about old news, I read about this over a month ago. lol
| |
Still sucks though
| |
"black sabbath suck but experimental pioneers death grips redefined music agreed"
lmao
| |

| |
