The samples make it sound like it's going to be a continuation of his last Queensryche release, Frequency Unknown. Kind of an alt rock/hard rock sound. Definitely has a better sound and seems more thought out than his last release. It also sounds just like you'd expect from a post-'Hear in the Now Frontier' Geoff Tate release.

Tate has become more pretentious than every prog metal band he influenced combined.

It's the Key mate... the charm north of the abs--it's a meta-phor! Tate knows.

hahaha the article title.

These songs sound like Geoff and his writers actually put a modicum of effort into them. If the whole album is like this, then it will easily be the best thing GT has been involved in since American Soldier, which means it will be a solid 3.

That cover is so dumb though. That spike necklace is so #modern and #edgy.

A family member of mine has toured with both the original Queensryche and with their newer singer, and he said Geoff Tate is one of the biggest assholes he's ever toured with. He's a touring member in a prominent 80's metal band (I'll leave unnamed for privacy reasons), and he's toured with a shit-ton of people, so being the #1 asshole is saying something.

yes his band is called Operation: Mindcrime, part of his deal with QR is that he owns that name and has the exclusive right to play the 2 albums in their entirety, whereas Toddryche can only play songs.

also this Operation: Mindcrime band is essentially made up of the musicians that played on Frequency Unknown, although Tate says he wants a revolving door type setup with this band.

Wow. Would've thought he'd kinda fuck off after that whole litigation thing. If anyone is in need of a good laugh, look up that promo vid he put out a couple years ago. Pure comedy gold.

This is better than his last two albums with the Ryche moniker, or even anything he ever did in solo. That's not saying much though, and should make you think about the quality of the rest.

Why ?? Whyyyy??? He even doesn't sound like before . Operation:Mindcrime was written by him so I think he can choose to use it as a bandname .

I kinda liked the first song. Had a bit of a Skunkworks edge to it. The rest was not quite so good. Band name choice is awful, but continues Tate's attempt to cling to his former image.

Still glad I saw them do the Mindcrime performance before Mindcrime II with the whole crew.

They hope so, at least. Probably going to check out Tate's album to create even more hype for them.
