oh come the fuck on
| |
soooo boring. Like seriously why did they even bother with this album its laughable
| |
Also +1 edginess for track title
| |
That took way too long to get going and the riff itself isn't even remotely powerful.
| |
I expected to find this totally average but it's kinda cool. The main riff could have been written by someone with under a year's experience of playing guitar, but the song's a 6-7/10
| |
Very anti-establishment, fuck capitalism, swedish socialist utopia Dawkins is lame ftw
| |
This site is fuckin dead.
| |
Okay. Now this one sounds just like The Shape Of Punk To Come.
| |
Dawkins Christ
Uhhhh wow
| |
uh oh
| |
Ugggghh they should've just stayed fucking dead. This is so disappointing.
| |
Dawkins christ? Oh my gawd
| |
I like it. Vocals have a ting of Keith Buckley to them
| |
Greatest song ever written 9/5 AOTY
| |
I like it. Vocals have a ting of Keith Buckley to them
If anything Keith Fuckley took cues from Dennis.
| |
album is gonna be a hard 2/5
| |
They've done the ultimate no no. They've believed their own hype which has been resurrected on the back of Christ knows what which in turn has made susceptible clueless tweens think that this band were relevant at some point. They weren't.
| |
Listen to zakalwe. He knows more about relevancy than we ever will.
| |
Don't you forget it you cheeky scamp!
| |
Or they could you know, just remember how fun it was in the old days and thought they could relive, zak.
Song's kinda "eh" tho. Would've preferred heavier overdrive on the guitars, but doubt that would do much. They kinda sound what a once powerful band sounds when it gets older.
| |
Anyone notice the radio one volume goes up to 11?
| |
Best single so far, but still blows ass.
| |
Album's looking like a 4/5 to me. Every song's been different so far.
| |
Best single so far [2]
| |
Find it funny that people are complaining about how a band that spent their careers doing whatever they wanted and being hated for it is doing whatever they want and is being hated for it.
| |
no I'm sure they complain about the song being shit
| |
first song was great, but this? couldnt they have just not done this?
I'm not complaining about the reunion for the sake of it, they seemed to know what they were doing at first, but this is just terrible
| |
For half a second I thought that said Radiohead not Refused and now I'm sad.
| |
well it'd be nice if what they wanted to do wasn't so fuckin boring
| |
band is a joke
| |
lol this band
| |
Pretty good. Have liked every song so far.
| |
The band knew when they started making this that they were going to piss everyone off simply by mentioning the idea, and just though "so what this album's for us not them, we're not gonna bow to pressure about what we should do with our lives". And I respect that.
| |
This thread is making me feel bad for getting into TSOPTC recently. Great fucking job guys, great fucking job.
| |
TSOPTC is fucking great though, this is underwhelming in comparison
| |
Album so far is still a 4/5 for me. The funk song might take it down but we'll wait and see.
| |
well it'd be nice if what they wanted to do wasn't so fuckin boring [2]
| |
If I thought TSOPTC was only pretty good this must be a shitfest then
| |
Well technically we've only heard 3 songs, some live vids exist of War On The Palaces and it's nothing special, but we still might get a decent album out of it. Françafrique grew on me a bit but it's still meh, Elektra is solid and Dawkins Christ is dumb lyrically but solid musically. I think anyone expecting an album as good as TSOPTC is smoking far too much of that good-good
| |
Pretty sure Dennis's exact words were "Fuck what people expect of us."
None of these songs are bad... They don't sound like TSOPTC, get the fuck over it.
Elektra and Francafrique went off hard as fuck in a live setting at a 300 person capacity bar, and they played a new one called 366 that would sound right at home on TSOPTC, which leads me to believe that there will be a good mix of the old and new Refused.
| |
what a well thought out response
| |
"The band knew when they started making this that they were going to piss everyone off simply by mentioning the idea" idk, the people here sound pissed because the song sucks (to them)
| |
let's hear your album then, bud
| |
I liked every song so far. A lot of diversity.
Thinking this could be anywhere near (or like) TSOPTC is stupid. A band like Refused wouldn't "play it safe" like that.
I'm anxious to hear the whole album. Might be a 4. Who knows.
| |
let's hear your album then, bud quit with the fallacy bro
| |
Thinking this could be anywhere near (or like) TSOPTC is stupid. A band like Refused wouldn't "play it safe" like that. but the music itself is extremely safe, inoffensive, and uninteresting.
| |
let's hear your album then, bud
jfc
| |
let's hear your album then, bud
lol
| |
Sputnikmusic for worst community ever.
| |
Pretty ehhh, maybe they'll have a mediocre return then actually remember how to be awesome.
| |
I only have an EP to my name and I wasn't the principal songwriter. I'm now recruiting for a new band but mostly working with novice musicians while I take on a new instrument/role in the band so the structures are gonna be really simple while we grow as a unit. Then again the first Refused album was bog-standard early 90s hardcore anyway and look how they evolved.
| |
what the fuck happened to this website. ugh.
| |
What is with all the hate? Sure it's not going to revolutionize music like their past work but I'm all for hearing some new Refused tunes.
| |
JWT comin in with dat logic
| |
except that there's no logic in his statements, just tolerance.
"guys it's not gonna be amazing, just mediocre. calm down! we should be happy they're making new music anyways!"
| |
let's hear your album then, bud
holy shit
| |
Song Is weak
| |
Oh how the mighty have fallen.... not bad, but definitely not the refused I remember
| |
https://youtu.be/FkfeY_rRg38 they play "366" off the new album @5:07. Reminds me a lot of the title track on TSOPTC
| |
"except that there's no logic in his statements, just tolerance.
"guys it's not gonna be amazing, just mediocre. calm down! we should be happy they're making new music anyways!""
So the only consumption we should have in our life is that of perfection? Guess I'm only eating at 5 star restaurants, watching academy award winning films and only smoking the best Cuban cigars in the world, nothing less than the best at all times... very few artists ever release iconic material, let alone do it again 2 decades later. You can be critical of their work but the whole "It doesn't live up to The Shape of Punk To Come so I'll pass on this" mentality is beyond irrational.
| |
http://www.theprp.com/2015/06/15/news/refuseds-dennis-lyxzen-disputes-claims-that-their-reunion-is-motivated-by-capitalism/ sounds about right
| |
"It doesn't live up to The Shape of Punk To Come so I'll pass on this" mentality is beyond irrational."
This is true but there are also times when you just think the music is just average. So far I haven't been impressed with the songs they've released other than "Elektra" which I did like but it wasn't amazing or anything.
| |
StrizzMatik they're accused of that because of entitled punks. There was a big uproar cos someone spoke out about it a year or so ago, I'll see if I can find that post.
| |
Bingo http://therunout.com/post/88686417571/slacktivist-fan-entitlement-is-slowly-killing-punk
| |
You want to get paid for your work? That's crazy talk, you don't need money when you're punk.
| |
So disappointing. They're more intelligent and tactful than this.
| |
Or maybe not.

Proper version
| |
I don't think the message of the song is bad at all, he's calling out Richard Dawkins and the legion of atheists that practically worship him without a hint of irony
| |
album is fuckin weeeeeird
| |
But also awesome.
| |
I think it'd be fair to call this a funk rock/funk metal album with the amount of funk driven riffs in this album.
| |
"I don't think the message of the song is bad at all, he's calling out Richard Dawkins and the legion of atheists that practically worship him without a hint of irony"
I think it was a good, astute shout. Tbh, this song isn't THAAAAT much behind TSOPTC...
| |
Album rules, so good in a completely unexpected way
| |
intrigued
| |
Anyone expecting Shape 2 is going to hate the fuck out of this record. The irony is that the songs co-written with Shellback are the ones that sound most like old Refused lol
| |
