Pretty boring, a step up from last album but only marginally
| |
Can't stand this band and their sanctimonious bullshit anymore.
| |
I like it, but then again I like pretty much everything Muse has done. It's basically 70's hard rock worship and I have no problem with that.
| |
Of course, this thread will be full of people bitching because it doesn't sound like anything pre-the resistance.
| |
This single is more pre-The Resistance than anything else post-BHaR tho
| |
As long as Drones brings something new to the table and doesn't stick to the style of this one song for the entire album, I'll be happy.
| |
Damn so boring. Hopes for the new album are not high.
| |
I don't care about their distant- or recent-past or hold any expectations for this band.
Having said that, I think this song is pretty lame.
| |
That riff is a fucking atrocity
| |
It's basically one riff... One riff throughout the entire song. I mean, simplicity can have its positives, but come on meeennn. Citizen Erased meeennnn
| |
Also the video sucks.
| |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSLlZh9yelk
@Deadwing it's a lyric video, what did you expect?
| |
Well, this looks like the end of Muse. It was fun while it lasted everyone but this sounds like it's going to be Muse's worse.
| |
Muse ended before they began
| |
Nah man, Muse used to be really cool. They just forgot how to be good if a little overly pretentious and turned into flat out pretentious when they decided to do politics.
| |
They've done politics since at least Absolution, if not before.
| |
Bwahaha, how can anyone sing a chorus like that with a straight face?
| |
If the lyrics were improved and that riff didn't sound so bland, this could have been a better song.
| |
Isn't that the formula to make any song into a better song?
| |
Some songs were screwed from the start. This I feel at least had some promise.
| |
My ass belongs to no one.
| |
Damn I try to keep up high hopes for the album because I want a good muse rock album so bad. this song though... I mean the riff isn't that bad but not the kind of riff you do nonstop for 4 minutes, more variety would have done wonders. And well the ridiculous lyrics along with the usual pretentious vocals just kill it for me...
| |
I feel like early Muse was a good band with enough potential to overlook their flaws, but since Black Holes (which was still a good album, but beginning of their decline) the same flaws that were always a part of their sound have become increasingly more and more magnified with each release to the point where they're pretty much insufferable to listen to. It's like, instead of working out the kinks in their early sound to evolve into a great band they just worked up the things that have always sucked about them. The instrumentation gets more and more cheesy, the vocals more and more pretentious and ironically vacuous. Unfortunately this song proves what I've always felt, that it's not about the band "going back to rock" to become good again but rather its a more intrinsic problem. Honestly, I really hate listening to them now. Almost as much as Nickelback.
| |
Is it just me, or does this sound like Marilyn Manson?
| |
Never, ever compare Nickelback to a band that has any musical relevancy, past-tense, present or future.
| |
No one did.
| |
The main riff is really cool, the song around it is not good though.
| |
"Never, ever compare Nickelback to a band that has any musical relevancy, past-tense, present or future."
Yeah, even though a few of Nickelback's records are actually better than the average Muse album. That's how weak these guys are
| |
they've been playing this riff live for quite a long time.
| |
Nickelback is to white trash what Muse is to pseudo-intellectuals
| |
This is just another track who is similar to uprising, not too bad but still it has flaws despite of being enjoyable, track is a 2,5-3/5. Hope that the rest of the album will be better.
By the way, lol, nickelcrap
| |
Tbh is more enjoyable than unsustainable, undisclosed desires and madness.
| |
Yeah, even though a few of Nickelback's records are actually better than the average Muse album. That's how weak these guys are.
i assume you mean the first few. no, they're not.
| |
"Nickelback is to white trash what Muse is to pseudo-intellectuals"
Honestly, I'd take a blatantly stupid and fun band over a band who pretends to be "high art" anyday
| |
You couldn't have chosen a band worse to prove your point, Necro.
| |
I'm not gonna say that Nickelback is better but I will say I'd rather listen to them than listen to Muse
| |
But I've always gotten that impression from Muse... particularly from how ear-bleedingly annoying - oh, I'm sorry... "poetic," Matt Bellamy is.
| |
that's some harsh criticism you guys are repping
| |
Honestly, I'd take a band who pretends to be "high art" anyday over a blatantly stupid and boring band
| |
That's why I was referring to Nickelback.
| |
But I actually like a few Nickelback albums, like Silver Side Up or All the Right Reasons
| |
And other than Absolution and Origin of Symmetry, I pretty much hate this band
| |
Lol nickelback, with the exception of 2 and 3 songs nickelback has made noise for people with an IQ below 70
| |
Muse's worst > Nickelback's best.
| |
Yet, Nickelback are probably the biggest pseudo-rocker in the game, actually believing they produce some "high art" rock music for the masses.
| |
Muse's worst > Nickelback's best.
Dude, mentioning muse and nickelback in the same phrase is an insult to the human intellect. Comparing muse with nickelcrap is like comparing french cuisine with mcdonalds or comparing chelsea or manchester united with a team who plays in the conference national( the 5th division of british football)
| |
this song is really really really really really bad
| |
Basic but groovy as fuck. I dig it for what it is.
| |
Is just a carbon copy from uprising with some cool details, matt's voice is good here and the instrumentation is not bad either, the track is catchy and groovy, still is not the most original thing made by these fellas and the lyrics are bad
| |
muse on auto-pilot
| |
i thought the teaser sounded interesting, but this video is ridiculous. it's the same as the hooks to all the songs on their last few records; just self-important, hamfisted bullshit. there's a lot to be said for subtlety, y'know
| |
also song sounds much better sped up 1.25x [∞]
listen to absolution snox
| |
The song is too damn slow to capture the live awesomeness it had over the years. Muse is screwed.
| |
I like the riff, the lyrics are bad even for muse standards. Song is like a 3/5 but will be one of the weaker tracks like most of their promotional first singles.
| |
Hahaha this song is hilarious, love it
| |
That picture in the video with the baby would've made for a better album cover
Also meh
| |
^ That.
Lyrics are pretty bad though.
| |
It bothers me that this was the strongest thing they could use to promote the album
| |
Remember Survival was the first song released off of the 2nd law... and United States of Eurasia on The Resistance. They seem to like releasing the cheesiest song on the album first.
| |
Not to mention SMBH on BHAR.
| |
SMBH was actually good though
| |
Eh, it was okay. But yeah I see your point. Either way, "your ass belongs to me" will absolutely be ridiculed when I review this in June.
| |
Song is hella dull. Hopefully the album picks it up.
| |
Decent, but yeah some of the lyrics are just lol...
| |
I quite liked this. Definitely the strongest muse song in quite some time. And better than most of the stuff on the last 2 records
| |
Nah Supremacy was better than this.
| |
I had some grudging hope for this but it's just horrendous
| |
I mean.. at least they are back to actually playing with guitars.. but.. this is terrible.. wow.. so dissapointed.
| |
I had to go listen to some OoS to wash this shitty taste of Muse out of my mouth.
TEAAAAAAAAAAACH US TO CHEAT AND TO LIEEEEEEEEEEE.. ohhh the good ol' muse whatever happen to them
| |
So they basically took a live outro of Stockolm Syndrome :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9wV9_je85DE&feature=youtu.be&t=5m58s
... then added awesome lyrics, especially "Your ass belongs to me now" as a chorus.
GENIOUSES !
| |
bad track, terrible lyrics
| |
This will probably be a nice live song though.
| |
Wow...prettaay prettaaay... pretty bad.
| |
"It bothers me that this was the strongest thing they could use to promote the album"
The shred of hope in me says that this is going to be their most "accessible/catchy" song on the album. I guess in hopes that new fans come on board and pay money for the album when it is officially released. So in other words, a business tactic.
But then there's a bigger part of me...
| |
Didn't these guys write interesting stuff once?
| |
It's ok
| |
The Sabbath meets The Doors vibe is cool but it's a bit generic.
| |
I love me some Bellamy riffs. But this one is fairly generic, and there's something terribly comical about the line "Your ass belongs to me now" being sung with utter conviction
| |
remember when Tom Morello said Bellamy is one of the two guitarist on the planet that doesn't suck?
| |
Bit cringeworthy that.
| |
its so bad
| |
sounds like an audioslave b-side
and the video is an atrocity
muse are one of the worst rock bands in the world. and origin of symmetry is one of my favourite rock albums
| |
I dig it. Onto the next one
| |
and with that person saying they've always had bad lyrics, yeah, but they dont usually make them the hook of the song and pronounce them as much as this lol
| |
kinda lame. the lyrics are way too wacky, even if the music was good.
| |
YOUR ASS BELONGS TO ME NOW
| |
Damn everyone's so quick to hate Muse now
| |
YOUR ASS BELONGS TO ME NOW.
| |
so tame
| |
Thread tl;dr but apparently the riff is like 15 years old and has been used as an interlude riff in live sets sometimes.
| |
Muse III: Remember Who You Are
| |
Muse III: YOUR ASS BELONGS TO ME NOW.
| |
the comment section to this video is fucking cringe-worthy
"like if u hate muslims!"
*comment gets 18 likes*
| |
oh yeah and the new muse song is meh
| |
Difference between Resistance and this
Muse in 2009 - Love is our resistance........I belong to you
Muse in 2015 - Love, it will get you nowhere..........Your ass belongs to me now
Salute^ -_-
| |
Da fuq did I just listen to
| |
Black Holes & Revelations II: This Time It's Personal
| |
"I quite liked this. Definitely the strongest muse song in quite some time. And better than most of the stuff on the last 2 records"
That really doesn't say a lot, does it?
| |
That refrain is so yucky.
| |
The music video was terrible though, that's for sure.
| |
I must have shit music taste because I actually enjoyed this. Video sucked but 99% of lyric videos do.
| |
Not bad . Hope the rest will sound more like the resistance. The shouts during the songs annoying
| |
The lyrics are so fucking bad ughhhhh I wanted this to be good
| |
This song is a joke. They wasted that main riff
| |
your rectum is owned by me as we speak
| |
the riff is decent, but thats really about it
| |
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0jHUwLq7OI Live video (average quality) of another new song, sounds much better than this imo
| |
Wow Muse sounds like they've been listening to some Nickelback lately. Fucking awful
| |
they should stick to writing songs in 4
| |
"https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D0jHUwLq7OI Live video (average quality) of another new song, sounds much better than this imo"
That was pretty good!
| |
I'm garrus vacarian and this is my rectum
| |
Wow UnaMUSEd I love you......that sounds so much better
| |
I actually got some hope back!
| |
How are they still around jesus christ.
| |
seriously? theyre bigger now more than ever
| |
Which obviously indicates people enjoy their newer music as much as their early stuff.
| |
what does that have to do with anything. theyre selling records, of course theyre going to keep making music
| |
awe man :l
| |
Well. this actually sounds great, it's one of the new ones. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdmwYyIHuEc
| |
^sounds like muse trying to write a van halen song
better than psycho though
| |
its way better. And the lyrics are pretty darn good, especially when compared to Psycho.
| |
reapers is interesting. after all im a bit stoked for their new album
| |
This is Dead Inside.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aTcJWhmdzpg&feature=youtu.be
whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
| |
what de actual FUCKKKKK
| |
that's not what I expected at all but I like it
| |
Lyrics are pretentious as hell. Terrible beginning. It picks up tho.
| |
oh my lord, that "Dead Inside" is nickelback level of terribe tbh. I mean. Psycho is already pretty terrible. But "Dead Inside" just grosses me out.
| |
muse: "lets put tons of nudity on the video so that no one will notice that this song sucks gozilla ballz"
youtube: "banned."
| |
and i had faith in them to put out a decent album again...i cant handle the pain omg
| |
the last minute and a half is pretty cool but i can't help but feel severely underwhelmed
| |
The bridge was all right. Terrible overall though.
| |
sounds like a bastardized duran duran song
| |
Daft attempt at Depeche Mode.
| |
@ ins. omg yes. 100%
| |
Better than the last single tbh.
| |
Yeah and the predicted setlist for 2015 at Download is
1. Neutron Star Collision
2. Starlight
3. Uprising
4. Guiding Light
5. I belong to you plus that french horsecrap
6. Dead Inside (AKA best single ever)
Thanks Matt, really stoked up......
......
......not
-_-
| |
I like Dead Inside though...
| |
Its not back to the roots.
| |
I fear Drones is the Resistance #2, cause Psycho is like Uprising, Dead Inside is like Undisclosed desires (kinda cool but the lyrics suck, a lot), and Reapers is gonna be one of the only few worthwhile songs (like MK Ultra). Guess I should just wait for Radiohead's LP, whenever it comes. Atleast they don't disappoint.
| |
why can't I comment on a fresh news page?
| |
This reminds me exactly of how people felt after SMBH was released lol.
| |
SMBH at least had some good bits. Dead Inside is the sort of song I record on Logic before sleeping. Its not bad, its just not fit for being a lead signal when you're a massive rock band planning on releasing a comeback album.
| |
Oh and SMBH had some good riffage. Dead Inside has some random solos and a breezy chord progression at the end. But Dead Inside is still better than Psycho IMO
| |
a lead signal. deep
| |
lol shit, sorry about that. Single*
| |
at least you read lol. thanks for not going tl,dr; ^_^
| |
The song has nothing to deliver in terms musically and it feels bored.
| |
