Evanescence on the rocks

2007-05-05 by Lewis EMERITUS | 23 Comments
Evanescene's drummer, Rocky Gray, quits after John LeCompt was fired. LeCompt is especially upset about it, quoting that "there is no loyalty in the band."

Here is an excerpt from LA Daily News:

Quote:
Evanescence guitarist John LeCompt said Friday he's been fired from the band, and he also said drummer Rocky Gray has quit, so things aren't looking good for the multi-platinum, two-time Grammy winning alternative rock act, one of the biggest bands in the world -- but apparantly shrinking by the second.

"I'm done, and I'm pretty upset about it," LeCompt said, calling from Little Rock, Ark., the band's home town. "(Singer) Amy Lee called and fired me today. There's absolutely no loyalty in this band."

...

A phone message to the press office at Wind-Up Records in New York seeking comment was not immediately returned.

LeCompt, 34, said he and Gray, 32, plan to pour all their energy into a new band, Machina, managed by Chris Long (Crossfade). Gray wasn't available for comment.

LeCompte was shit anyway, Ben Moody owned him. Though Rocky was good, but I can see them getting in a famous rock drummer for their next album at least.

She's done them a huge favour there, now they won't be stuck in her shadow all the time.

Let's hope this means their Download performance is cancelled

If he's saying there's no loyalty just because he was fired he's got to learn; Shit Happens.
This band is overrated, but not horrible. I still hate Amy's voice, though.

I predict that this band will eventually dissolve into a solo project by Amy Lee. She's a semi-talented songwriter and seems to provide most of the creative energy for the band anyways, so that's not a bad thing IMO. There wasn't a whole lot of interesting-ness from either LeCompt or Moody anways.

It won't affect sales, but she's developing a reputation now...

It's the Amy Lee show anyway, so it'll probbly end up just her in a solo career.

These guys (and a girl) are a record industry product. Bands like that don't break up unless they're becoming low on sales.

Sounds like Amy Lee had a period of biblical proportions.

A new statement from her says the band is alive and well. Clearly if she kicked him out it was for the greater good. You don't fire someone over spilled milk.

I read that she forbids them to speak about their departure and/or being fired. Go figure...

What's even worse is it was over the phone. That's very juvenial.
