Manchester Orchestra Hope 2014-09-16 by Sowing STAFF | 43 Comments |

I guess we can all quit bitching about how Cope didn't have a softer side now.

Blandchester Borechestra
| |
seems interesting. cope was quite a disappointment
| |
I still haven't even listened to Cope yet :-)
| |
"honestly cope's biggest problem was just weaker songwriting imo"
This. Some enjoyable tracks on Cope and even on this rehashed version but overall doesn't stack up to any of the previous albums.
| |
Cope honestly isn't bad. It just fails to live up to the absurd expectations following Simple Math.
| |
simple math wasn't really all that
| |
I'm Like a Virgin > Mean Everything > Simple Math >> Cope
| |
Actually really pumped for this. Now I can really zero in on the lyrics.
| |
the problem with Cope was mixing/general suffocating production, so this sounds promising
Lakes your opinion is wrong
| |
they also need to play a god damn Vancouver show. they had one announced for the days right before that Alaska date from a while back but it disappeared a few months before the show with no explanation. do they ever play western Canada?
| |
Listening to the new Top Notch now...I like their softer side but these songs so far are just pretty arrangements with no energy. So far it sounds like the drummer is sitting this one out.
| |
this is cool as fuck
| |
like a virgin is their best yeah
| |
the songs that were good already on Cope like Every Stone and Girl Harbor aren't really done justice on this...but the songs that lacked like The Mansion and Choose You are better in this form.
| |
I thought the end of every stone was breathtaking and I dug girl harbor. Thought it had nice layers.
| |
Thoroughly enjoyed Cope, I can't wait to hear this.
| |
The worst thing about Cope was the godawful production it just bothers me so much
| |
I agree with Aids and Crawl, the production on Cope is just way off, the songs sound like crap. They do seem like a step down in terms of songwriting, but I'm actually looking forward to hearing this. I'm pretty sure that at least some songs work better like this.
| |
Here we go again with the news titles.
| |
stop with these fucking news titles guys
| |
What do you mean about the news titles
| |
Honestly quite enjoying this, it is very chilling.
| |
dat atmosphere
| |
I liked the production on cope, but I hope this has a more crisp sound.
| |
i dont necessarily think this is better than COPE but my god it's like a completely different album. the arrangements are way more layered than I thought they'd be.
| |
also, how the FUCK can you say that Girl Harbor doesn't fucking soar here?
| |
This is fucking great, and Andy Hull's voice sounds amazing in here.
| |
Agreed. Girl Harbor sounds great here.
| |
Gotta check will probably be better than Cope
| |
Only listened to one song and I can safely say this is twice as good as Cope was
| |
Which song?
| |
Choose You and Girl Harbor on Cope are fine. My least fav was All I Really Wanted.
| |
May be getting free tix to their Cardiff gig on the 6th *fingers crossed*
Will check this out later
| |
I liked Cope and I like this. I thought Every Stone on here was nearly perfect.
| |
holy shit bigtuna sighting
| |
this has the same problem that Cope did: it's really fucking boring
| |
Wasn't so thrilled about Cope when it first came out but it grew on me a lot. Better than Simple Math at least, that record was a pretty big disappointment for me (though still a 3 at least, I'm a big MO fan in general). I'll definitely check out Hope just out of curiosity at the very least
| |
11/04: Austin, TX @ Scoot Inn
| |
Simple Math is a 4.5
| |
Hahahahahah no. To each their own though
| |
He's right though
| |
Cope wasn't the end of the world. Just an alright album.
