Sotelo is stoked

Crap song that sounds like a heavier stone sour track
| |
Opening lick is sweet but this just sounds like a Stone Sour b-side :/
| |
this is really bad
it sounds like a rejected korn track re-recorded by slipknot
| |
average.
| |
damn ye snake, the korn vibes are hard with this one.
| |
surprisingly ok
sounds very vol. 3
many times more interesting than that dreary song they released before
| |
The guitar tone is IOWA straight up but ye, the more melodic elements sound like Vol. 3.
| |
I like this better than the first one they posted, more dynamic. Just because it's singing doesn't make it sound like Stone Sour.
| |
Good track, would listen again.
| |

nailed it
doesn't really have the same eerie vibe as vol 3
| |
Wish they did more songs like The Nameless, man that song is badass.
| |
it's ok. sounds like they're actually trying again which is cool
| |
"Crap song that sounds like a heavier stone sour track"
funny cuz stone sour ruined slipknot for me
| |
TBH this sounds pretty decent despite of some similarities with korn, still is pretty enjoyable. New album will be a 3,5
| |

yeah love that one
| |
Of that album prefer pulse or the blister exists
| |
x-post from the AHIG thread
The chorus of [that new song] is the only Slipknot thing about it. Everything else could be ripped straight out of Audio Secrecy AFAIC.
Other than Corey, nothing else sticks out. Very bland.
Interest in this album is beginning to wain.
| |
is aight songs a solid 3 in my book
| |
Ugh the vocals. Also, am I crazy for thinking the one riff sounds like Black Tongue by Mastodon?
| |
I liked the blast beat bit but the rest was meh.
| |
The Negative One was better
| |
didn't like it
| |
Don't kile the production but otherwise it's ok. Liked The Negative one better though
| |
Both songs feel very empty to me, not a lot going on in either of them. I feel like the draw of a good Slipknot song is chaos and energy, both songs are lacking these things.
| |
THE BAND HAS THE SAME SINGER AS STONE SOUR, SO GOD DAMN IT, I TOTALLY IGNORE MUSICAL SCALES OR INDIVIDUAL STYLES POSSESSED BY THE OTHER MEMBERS OF THE BAND! I HEAR THE SAME VOCALIST, SO IT MUST SOUND LIKE STONE SOUR!
| |
You forgot that they (formerly) shared a guitarist too lol
| |

There has always been a decently noticeable difference in the way he delivered his vocals in both bands though, but the singing in this song sounds MUCH closer to the way he sings in Stone Sour.
Anyways, something about that intro riff really bugs me, but i'm not sure what. When he starts singing though, it gets a lot better.
| |
Lazy is definitely an accurate description.
| |
this is poopoo which is a shame cos negative 1 went off
| |
Sounds like something off All Hope is Gone, only better
| |
This is the best they have for a single on an album following a pos like AHIG?
RIP Slipknot.
| |
Not feeling this at all. The breakdown before the pointless blasting is sweet though.
Main riff is not cool.
| |
It's okay as long as you're busy doing something else (i.e. as long as you don't give the song your undivided attention).
| |
I'm not feeling this. It's just a pretty boring track overall and the production sounds hollow.
| |
The Negative One is a masterpiece compared to this
| |
New album is titled .5: The Gray Chapter and will be out on October 28th. iTunes has it up for preorder already.
| |
knew they would release the heaviest song on the album first and follow it with a sourknot song
i don't even dislike it solely because there's singing but his melodies are just so weak
| |
as a song, i like it TBH
as a slipknot song, it sounds a lot like a B-Side to Vol. 3 which is what i guess they were going for. And i think people just hear a different tone for the drums and think "oh man they suck." they really don't sound too far off from Joey's drums, if that even is another person. I've yet to hear Joey say that he isn't in the band anymore he denied it last i heard.
| |
the blasting is so pointless though
| |
Yeah it doesn't even sound good
| |
Even less heart than The Negative One. The less frenetic songs on AHIG still had really nice composition and a consistent underlying strength, this is just fucking dull. The new drummer's slower parts are weak, and the blasts don't meet Jordison's in terms of energy. Drums sound poorly compressed, the toms are flat as fuck. The chugging section that starts around 3:24 is handled well, but the rest is soulless. Riffs are generic. Singing feels like it's from a throwaway Stone Sour track. Lazy is the right word. This has to be the worst single they've ever released.
| |
the record will be called The Gray Chapter. Some kind of reference to Paul Gray?
the song is boring. blastbits in the middle are pointless but god damn funny!
| |
Meh, it's okay. Second half is pretty good but the first is boring and it feels like I've heard all this before.
| |
tend to agree with BornDead.
Dead Memories was probably my fav popknot song but this is just awkward.
| |
People do know that TNO won't be on the new record, right?
| |
The official tracklist says otherwise. It will be the 13th track
| |
wow the artwork sucks lol
| |
meh
| |
Hmm, Corey said it was just a 'taster', maybe its a bonus track?
| |
It's on the standard and deluxe editions though. He may have meant it wasn't a "real" single.
| |
Nostalgia jams for the win!
| |
This is more Stone Sour than Slippers.
| |
.5: The Gray Chapter
sigh

SIGH
| |
Surely that's fake.
| |
I feel like any time Corey ends up doing clean vocals people just always say it sounds like Stone Sour. Fucking duhhhh, of course it sounds similar.
| |
its p good but new limp bizkit destroys it
| |
The problem isn't Corey's clean singing or the opening riff/chorus riff, it's that the song doesn't balance the band's melodic side with enough intensity like their best singles from before. Just think: Wait and Bleed, Left Behind, Duality, Before I Forget, Vermillion... All of them keep the same strong pace throughout, while this keeps awkwardly starting and stoping, making it feel like it's dead halfway through the first verse. They sound like they're trying to be dynamic but it just comes across as disjointed and boring
| |
liked it a bit more on the 2nd listen but prefer the negative one for sure
and that is the actual art yes oh dear
| |
Ha! Album art is just stupid.
Again - RIP Slipknot.

agreed
this is not at all a surprise though
sigh
melodic parts in the verses are good but the choruses and riffs blow. album art is shite too
| |
meh...sounds like a bland korn song.
| |
I think Vol. 3 is the only thing this band will ever do that I really like.
| |
but s/t jams so hard
| |
Sigh...this could actually turn out to be worse than AHiG
| |
more like the gay in i
| |
Not bad, but I'm not blown away either.
| |
It sounds very half arsed. The production sucks too! It sounds more like a demo.
| |
This doesn't even sound like Slipknot. Very bad song and any interest I had in this album is quickly vanishing.
| |
Not to mention the cheese song title.
| |
Haha and holy shit that album cover. It cannot be true.
| |
Not really digging this one. The negative one was more enjoyable.
| |
Boring song
| |
Never really was much of a Maggot. Personally, I thought the song was decent, but "The Negative One" just had a little more of an oomph (though still pretty bland) factor.
| |
Liking this Stone Sour track, but where's the new Slipknot song?..
| |
Ugh, the album cover is really bad too
| |
Liking this Stone Sour track, but where's the new Slipknot song?.. (x2)
| |
I cannot get over that album cover. Holy shit it's funny.
| |
The Negative One was boring. This is even more boring.
| |
I miss my maggot days and this was my number one gateway band back then
| |
stone slipknot~
| |
The song title is so stupid lmao. "The Devil in I" was so clever, they just couldn't use "The Devil in me."
| |
I really wonder who came up with the idea for the album cover.
| |
The more I listen to this, the more I can tell it's a Slipknot song and not a Stone Sour Song. I'm still not completely feeling the "step inside" line though, even though it does get stuck in my head all the time.
| |
Album art is terrible. agreed.
| |
track names are worse though. I don't really mind the art. It's not good but i've seen worse
| |
Can't wait till this piece of shit gets a release date
| |
Oct 21
| |
The album art reminds me of Staind's Tormented album art.
| |
Can't wait till this piece of shit comes out on the 21st of Oct
