Awesome.
| |
sweet fancy Moses. Bowie last year and now Floyd.
| |
Too good to be true
| |
1994 sessions doesnt sound that good though... 1973 sessions would be
better a new classic
| |
*snore
| |
How new is it actually gonna be tho
| |
It's an awesome news, despite I'm worried it could be a bit of a disaster, since "1994 sessions" doesn't sound me good either... still excited about such news
| |
Man, I just wait to space out to some newly released Floyd.
| |
Hopefully Waters doesn't appear on this. He is to much Douche
| |
Yay!
| |
Can't see how this is a good thing. The Division Bell wasn't fantastic, but a worthy enough end, and it should stay that way.
| |
I hope it's gonna be good, just like Heaven and Earth
| |
I feel like I'm the only one who wants to hear more of the Division Bell.
| |
High Hopes is the perfect swan song.
Don't know if it's a good idea to release another album under the Pink Floyd brand.
| |
You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention
| |
High Hopes is the perfect swan song. [2]
why would they have to do this?
| |
"Can't see how this is a good thing. The Division Bell wasn't fantastic, but a worthy enough end, and it should stay that way."
Nag, I understand your point but after all, it's Pink Floyd we're talking about. I'm confident that they're still more than capable of producing something great. Of course, no one should be expecting a new Dark Side Of The Moon, but that doesn't mean that Floyd won't be able to make good music anymore.
| |
"why would they have to do this?"
maybe Nick Mason needs a new helicopter
| |
"but that doesn't mean that Floyd won't be able to make good music anymore."
and that's what it's probably going to be: good. nothing to be pumped for tbh
| |
"maybe Nick Mason needs a new helicopter"
lel
| |
@Artuma; Of course it's probably not going to be all that special, but I'm still sure that they'll make better music than many new artists around.
| |
It's either gonna be really good or really bad no inbetween
| |
it's gonna have a shit ton of 2's because it's not dark side or wywh quality that's for sure
| |
wat
| |
really?
| |
I thought the Division Bell was great! Coming Back to Life is my favorite Pink Floyd song and one of my favorite songs of all time. I get chills every time I hear it. To me, the Division Bell is one of the best Pink Floyd albums so I am definitely excited about this news.
| |
coming back to life is a masterpiece agreed
| |
bnm
| |
Hope it's true . I love the "Division Bell"
| |
gonna be really fuckin good
| |
hopefully
| |
It'll just sound like a Gilmour solo record if Waters is not on it. They did all play together a few years back, so maybe they made up
after all this time? Or maybe he'll come back in respect of Wright? Either way, if Waters is on it.. the record will be huge.
| |
The Division Bell was great, so if it's something that sounds like it then it'll probably still be better than The Wall
| |
Sweet. Loved division bell.
| |
Either really bad or really good.
Looking forward to it.
| |
The Divison Bell is ok, though I can;t say for sure, as it's not an album I've heard enough times.
New Pink Floyd? I don't know. I guess it could work. Such sudden news though, huh? I think it's not going to be bad. I'd say it's going to be familiar, cozy. I do hope, though, for excellence, but let's be realistic.
I ;also hope Roger Waters is on the album too. The reason I do not dig any Pink Floyd Album after The Wall, is either because it's not worth it (The Final Cut), or because it's too Gilmour-y (The Division Bell, A Momentary Lapse of Reason)
| |
I'll still treat The Division Bell as their last album. This sounds more like a B-Side collection, albeit 20 years later.
| |
Album won't be anything special without Waters, the two previous Floyd albums have proved that without his input their song writing is pretty average.
| |
It's saving grace could be if it's predominantly instrumental and less song-based, which I think I read it might be (not sure where I saw that, I could be wrong).
| |
No Waters, reconsider your expectations accordingly ( source: http://consequenceofsound.net/2014/07/more-details-on-pink-floyds-new-album-no-roger-waters-no-plans-for-tour/ ).
| |
Correct me if I'm wrong, but i thought Floyd was left in Waters' hands?
| |
I don't mind if it's too "Gilmour-y", I really liked the sound of The Division Bell, to me it was better than The Wall and The Final Cut
| |
Um
Pink Floyd is Roger Waters.
(:
| |
The Final Cut was the perfect swan song.
| |
I thought they said these were recorded at the same time as the Division Bell?
| |
Whhhhhhhy won't you talk to me!
| |
Pink Floyd is Roger Waters.
He was an integral part of the band but Gilmour was equally important to their sound, if not more so. It's just that they need Water's to handle a good chunk of the writing side of things, as highlighted by both post-Waters albums.
| |
So to conclude: you need parties to make it good.
| |
"He was an integral part of the band but Gilmour was equally important to their sound, if not more so. It's just that they need Water's to handle a good chunk of the writing side of things, as highlighted by both post-Waters albums."
don't forget about rick man.
| |
just wait...new Led Zeppelin
| |
Wish they would get Waters to play on this
| |
i dont know how i feel about this...
| |
woa... really? will defs check but doubtful it'll be any good
| |
this will henceforth be remembered as the day my coffee almost killed me
| |
woah the pseudo elitist self-important faggotry is strong in this thread
| |
Will probs be better than new Yes
| |
Overhyped. I hope this blows up in everyone's faces.
| |
why would you hope for an album to be bad?
| |
there better be a fucking tour
my god there better be
| |
new Beatles at this rate?
| |
I absolutely loved their 90s output so I'm looking forward to this.
| |
No waters lol
| |
Not sure how this will turn out but I'm intrigued.
| |
So... we could potentially get a new Pink Floyd album before we get a new Tool album. I can't be the only one to see the humor in this.
| |
Dunno why people are hoping for a Waters appearance
I mean if he co-wrote it that would be fantastic but its been announced that this was all written in 1994 which basically confirms he had no input in writing it
So therefore if he did appear on this it wouldn't be as a songwriter it'd just be him playing bass and singing
Neither of which he excels at to be perfectly frank
| |
I liked their later work so I'll definitely check this out.
| |
Agreed Rowan, he isn't that great at either.
| |
Garbage? Damn
| |
oooo interesting. will defo check this out.
| |
Have some faith people this will rule for sure
| |
When Pink Floyd toured the Division Bell they played Dark Side of the Moon (complete album, start to finish) every night. Next year is the 40th anniversary for the release of Wish You Were Here. Be nice if they toured the new album and the show included the complete WYWH . . . It could happen.

| |
If it wasn't for school duties, I'd definitely had gone to The Wall Show, in 2011. Three years later, this seems like the perfect opportunity to finally see them live, at least the three out of the four.
| |
'94 sessions....hmmmmm
| |
Well, I read on the Greek Metal Hammer site that 1) Roger Waters doesn't participate, 2) There's no intention of touring.... Ugh....
| |
Dunno why people would expect Waters to participate at all
| |
Would be nice though
| |
@Rowan:Yeah I know Waters isn't involved and that's one of the reasons I don't have very high expectations for this, the songwriting will probably be pretty average but with a couple of exceptions just like on The Division Bell and A Momentary Lapse.
| |
Floyd needs Waters
| |
Gonna be mostly instrumental and ambient anyway JT
I agree the songwriting without Waters isn't even comparable, but the musicianship will still be top notch
| |
Gonna be mostly instrumental and ambient anyway JT
Then there's a chance it will rule. Wouldn't mind hearing some occasional vocals from Gilmour though within a less song-based context.
| |
Will probably suck.
| |
It def needs some vocals, tributes to Rick and Syd are a must
| |
my life is complete
| |
Not sure what to think of this. Definitely not expecting anything on par with DSOTM, WYWH, Wall, or even Meddle.
Still, the band is nearly incapable of putting out anything remotely horrible. Will definitely check this out.
imho, suspiciously smells like a twilight-years cash grab.
| |
I'm betting it's gonna suck.
| |
Watch it have dubstep
| |
WHAAAAAAAT. I swear though if you're right and it does have dubs I'm killing myself.
| |
lol sowing wouldn't be surprising
| |
division bell was boring as shit and I can't imagine this being any better w/o waters
| |
TEAR DOWN THE WALL!!!!!
TEAR DOWN THE WALL!!!!!
| |
meh.
| |
NOVEMBER 10TH GUYS
| |
Damn you beat me to it
Album art is really nice looking gotta pre-order soon as I can!!!!
| |
It's an interesting decision to make the music mostly ambient, that's probably the best route that they can go given the absence of Waters.
| |
Yeah, The Division Bell already had a kind of ambient vibe, and it worked pretty well imo
| |
Richard Wright is dead, and Roger Waters probably won't be on it.
I hope you guys aren't hyped for this Gilmour/Mason reputation milk.
| |
According to them it was mostly written by Wright before his death, so it could be Divison Bell-quality, which would still be pretty cool imo. Considering they're like 70 years old
| |
Just seen the album artwork: absolutely horrendous.
| |
Yeah, I hate it.
| |
The art is fantastic, what?
| |
I don't feel very strongly about it one way or the other.
| |
I think its beautiful but I'm a Floyd fanboy, still have no idea how you could call it horrendous though
| |
It's pretty meh agreed
| |
"Richard Wright is dead, and Roger Waters probably won't be on it.
I hope you guys aren't hyped for this Gilmour/Mason reputation milk."
you should probably know what you are talking about before going full douche on the internet
| |
You guys are kidding, right? It looks so dated. And a naff photoshop job. Hope the actual music has more effort put into it.
| |
yeah i hate to admit it but where the cloud cover is over the back of the boat and the paddle looks pretty fake
| |
It really is a horrible album cover. Sorry Rowan :/
| |
It's the billowing open shirt that really takes the biscuit.
| |
Wish Waters Was Here
| |
^
[2]
| |
XD But seriously, hope album is awesome.
| |
The teaser was pretty cool
| |
fuck off
| |
