Wonder how long it took then come up with the idea for the video.
Empty warehouse videos are bread and butter for any metal band.
Song rules and that chorus is almost like something out of a Las Vegas rawk band, love it.

I can't help but notice Troy's facial expressions during his vocal parts

Yeah, Troy makes faces a lot when he sings. I've seen Mastodon live twice and I've learned that Troy likes being really animated even when standing still.

Well, I wasn't expecting to see Greg showing his guitar-playing chops, talented guy all around.

The album is the most fun album to listen to in years. I mean it's not really fucking great or anything. It's just plain fun and good to listen to. And I really didn't expect Greg to play the melodic parts...

I really like the song, and the rest of the album is a lot of fun. Not very groundbreaking or anything just pretty damn enjoyable to my ears.

Band is as original as the video.

One of the biggest pieces of shit to come out in metal this year. On par with Hell Yeah and I really mean that.

Band wouldn't get as much hype if the members were random dudes. But it's still way more fun than hellno

Album is an absolute belter, Max does bog a few songs down with his usual mix of lyrics "Fire! (or fiyah!!) Rise! Kill!" etc etc. But Troy and Greg are on fiyah! (as Max would say), cracking album.

It's not fun though. It seems like the only one into this was Max and he paid the others to be his studio buddies. Plus Nuclear Blast thought this was a great idea and probably paid Greg and Troy a heap of money to just make Cavalera look better so he could sell more records with future Soulfly releases. It's like a paid relationship to show up on someone's resume to try and revive their credibility. An extremely smart marketing move I must add. The music just doesn't justify the 50% talent in the band.

Greg and Max have known who've known each other a long time, Greg did a guest appearance on a Soulfly album in 2010 when they were with Roadrunner. Those two started KBK in 2011, the band had all come together by 2012, and Soufly didn't even join Nuclear Blast until 2013.

Nuclear Blast were probably very keen on it when they got the chance to get this band - what reasonable label wouldn't be? But to suggest this is some sort of Nuclear Blast master plan five years in the making from the outset is rather a strech of the imagination to say the least considering the timeline.

Fine if you think the music sucks but why try and make such a cynical conspiracy out of it?

Because it's a well executed marketing ploy. Just listen to the examples you listed above that brought this album to life:

Greg did a guest appearance on a Soulfly album in 2010 when they were with Roadrunner.

and Soufly didn't even join Nuclear Blast until 2013.

Hahahaha really? It's no coincidence Monte Conner moved from Roadrunner to Nuclear Blast bringing all his junk with him? You don't think Greg was paid a good sum to end up on a shit album? Soulfly and DEP have nothing in common whatsoever and Max has always been known in the past to bring in the heavy's to up his credibility as a relevant heavy metal artist.

Those two started KBK in 2011, the band had all come together by 2012,

When shit was hitting the fan between Monte Connor and Roadrunner but nothing could be done regarding releasing the an album until now because Roadrunner was in trouble and scaling away from metal for the most part.

Nuclear Blast were probably very keen on it when they got the chance to get this band - what reasonable label wouldn't be?

I agree, any label that would want to make some money with big names, who cares how the music sounds.

But to say to this this is some sort of Nuclear Blast master plan five years in the making from the outset is rather a strech of the imagination to say the least considering the timeline.

There was no master plan, 2014 happened to be the ideal time to release this crap when all the cards were in place.

Dude, do your homework before coming in and barking up my tree.

I don't see why though you think this band came together just because Max in essence paid the others off? Greg's been with him on from the start Nuclear Blast/Mone Conner clearly did not just pay him a heap of money to be involved as this project was as much his idea as Max's. There is also so much that Troy obviously wrote and put into the album, I don't see how this can just be Max and his hired guns.

I didn't mean say your thinking is completely implausible, it just doesn't seem necessary and way overly cyncial. Especially considering all that for a band that will hardly, if ever, be able to tour and make much off.

There's politics and money to everything revolving around Roadrunner/ Nuclear Blast bands (2 of the biggest metal labels ever). I only hear Troy's vocals but I clearly hear Cavalera riffs/ retarded one word lyrics and I guess another point I'm trying to say is this should be called Cavalera and Friends if money has nothing to do with it. I see where you're coming from and sometimes I can be a conspiracy theorist to a degree. If I'm wrong with my ideas then lets just agree the band was an ok idea gone terribly wrong musically.

We'll never know the dealings and I'm sure you're absolutely right that many (probably most to be honest) things at Roadrunner and Nuclear Blast aren't nearly as 'organic' as they would like us to think. But I'd like to trust Greg and Troy to be cool enough guys to care about this and not just do it for the money or Cavalera association.

But if we do ever find out you were right I'll make sure to hold my hands up!

cavalera is easily the worst part of the song/album but hes not bad enough to ruin either, plus his growls add some flair to a couple songs anyway

greg needs to learn how to alternate pick those chugs ;)

also, the chorus sounds exactly like a song (can't remember which one) off the album Lover's Requiem (actually, it might be the title track) by I Am Ghost

Honestly, this song's fun as hell. The only part I don't care for is Cavalera making the song go Soulfly for a random 30 seconds. I'm gonna check out the album. I was really hoping this would be good. I really like the vocal diversity.
