Interesting... I'm glad that he's remaining in Slipknot, it would be a shame if he left both bands.
| |
I think that if this causes a rift between Taylor and Root then it'll most likely lead to Taylor leaving Slipknot. He doesn't really care about them anymore and the band have said before that they'd be more than willing to do an album with or without him.
| |
That's a shame
| |
Actually it was more specifically Jordison who said that about making an album without Corey... and look where it got him lol
| |
Pretty sure either Clown or Sid was in agreement though.
| |
Way to make up facts. You should write a news article about your "facts. "
| |
Im sensing corey is the issue here.
was jim's reply the "recent events" for them making a statement?
| |
how will they replace a generic rock guitarist
| |
band is obviously done for now
| |
Wtf, kicking a guy out of your band only to have to continue to work with him in another is a genius idea if I've ever seen one.
| |
Band has now officially gone to shit. Not like Root was amazing or anything but his musicianship definitely surpassed that of the other guys in the band.
| |
Disagree with you Judio! I saw them live last year & was very surprised with how much Josh Rand played lead. Without knowing the studio ins & outs, Root may not be as missed as much as his name & alter-egos suggest.
| |
Oh, I was under the impression Root pretty much ran the band along with Taylor. It's nice to hear that there's still hope for band despite the loss of Root.
| |
The new Slipknot album will "still" sound like a Stone Sour record, doesn't make much difference anyway.
| |
Corey Taylor -aka Axl Rose- strikes again.
| |
Damn, this'll be an awkward situation in Slipknot camp.
| |
Slipknot at the end of their career (let's be honest this album is their last) is reverting to Slipknot at the beginning of their career. Either they are kicking someone out or they hate each other's guts. It's come full circle.
| |
noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
| |
"The new Slipknot album will "still" sound like a Stone Sour record"
And this is why I'd be ok with them kicking out Taylor before making their next album. As long as they find someone good, it won't bother me.
| |
Damn. Sounds like a matter out of control of Taylor's hands, considering the two have been like glue from day one.
| |
Also, pretty sure kicking out Taylor would be the end of Slipknot for most long-time fans.
| |
Let the Corey Taylor project commence!
| |
The projects will merge
| |
As previously said, the new Slip Knot album will end up sounding like Stone Sour anyway.
| |
Slipknot Soured
| |
SourKnot
| |
Slipstoned
| |
"Corey the douche" is what he's changing the name to.
| |
Corey kicking them all out
| |
One man two bands
| |
if you still love me let Jim go
| |
kick corey and bring anders back
| |
And Joey
| |
Did I miss the news story where it was announced that Corey was the only member of Stone Sour?
Also, SourStoned
| |
I sense this is the last Slipknot album anyway, which is fine 'cause I like Stone Sour a hell of a lot more than I like Slipknot anyway.
| |
Never listened to SS anyway.
And tbh the new Slipknot album can go one of two ways. It will be the heaviest and rawest thing they ever did or it will be an unholy cross between SS and the All Hope sound...
| |
band sucks anyway - who cares
| |
Somebody from the band was quoted as saying that it's a cross between Iowa and Vol. 3, so probably in the "rawer and heavier" field.
I'm a bit worried the album won't sell very well, unless all those teenage Knot fans who grew up and evolved their tastes past mainstream metal desire nostalgia.
| |
Some of you guys talk like Mick Thomson doesn't exist. As long as he's in Slipknot, along with Corey, I'm not too concerned.
| |
I'm a bit worried the album won't sell very well, unless all those teenage Knot fans who grew up and evolved their tastes past mainstream metal desire nostalgia.
Can't see it not selling very well.
| |
Even if Root were to leave Slipknot, wouldn't be as big a loss as Jordison or Gray. It would be significant, his solos are infinitely more melodic and substantial than Thompson's, but he doesn't seem terribly vital. Really have no fucking clue what's going on with either of those groups, the recent streak of self-destruction caught me by surprise.
| |
The answer is Corey.
| |
It will sell fine, it's a matter of whether Corey's time doing the great House of Golden Bones records will be able to salvage Slipknot after the mostly lackluster AHIg
| |
Thompson is an awful guitarist, and I seriously doubt they would put out a record with just him. Then again, Root is pretty basic. In theory it shouldn't be hard to replace him. So yeah.
| |
Generating drama for both album releases. Oh those Slipknot kids and their internet games!
| |
earth-shattering news
| |
haha okay.
| |
How the fuck is Thomson an awful guitar player? Come off it.
| |
kick corey and bring anders back [2]
they totally should for the last album, that would be interesting
| |
iT'LL BE THEIR LAST CALLING
| |
Thompson isn't a bad player, some of his solos on vol. 3 are cool
| |
Vol 3 was when they lost it
| |
lol theres no way Corey would be kicked out of Slipknot, their popularity would take a nosedive
| |
i'd like to see that happen
| |
They've been on and off in quality, S/t and Vol : 3 I still like, Iowa grew off me like crazy, and AHIG is definitely their worst
| |
Iowa is my favorite. They've never been as heavy or intense ever since, and Corey's vocals were at their all time best during that time period.
| |
Yeah but even with his vocals like that, his lyrics were at their worst, and for him, that's saying a lot. Not to mention that the guitar tones on that record were produced to be muddy as all hell
| |
Vol 3 was when they lost it
Baron, what have you been smoking, mate? Vol.3 kicks ass. Anything past that is shit. lol
| |
so distraught
| |
Fucking Corey Taylor damn
| |
Also, why does everyone assume this is Corey Taylor's fault? It's like the other band members have no blame, it just HAS to be the singer, for some reason.
| |
You have a point, and it would be insanely awkward if it IS Corey's fault.
| |
Could be as simple as a conflict of interest or something. Having two successful bands, I'd imagine, is like having more than one job... And not everyone can handle working that much. Maybe he couldn't commit to the full time commitment that was both bands, he wanted more time off with family, or just whatever, so they were like "Look, dude, this isn't working...", and that would explain why he isn't happy about it.
