Next John 5 LP being recorded 2014-05-03 by Froot | 14 Comments | Current guitarist of Rob Zombie, and former guitarist of Marilyn Manson, John 5, is in the midst of recording his seventh full-length solo studio album.
As revealed on the guitarist's official website, the new album, entitled Careful With That Axe, will feature contributions from Rodger Carter on drums, and Dylan Wilson on
bass, as well as numerous other special guest musicians.
As well as this, accompanying the album will be a DVD mini-series documenting the production process, as directed by Jonny Coffin (former guitarist of Dia de los Muertos), similar
to the DVD that was packaged with John 5's previous LP God Told Me To.
However, this album's production may be long and arduous, as at present, John 5 is currently on tour with Rob Zombie to support their latest album. As a result Careful With
That Axe has no current release date.

One of the best, dude is awesome and hope he finds new boundaries to push in his playing on this effort. This is some good news.
| | | John's a brilliant guitarist, hoping for it to be good.
| | | Gold Told Me To was excellent so I'm looking forward to this
| | | Never understood why people liked this guy so much.
| | | Jeez, old news this. ha
Still, I'm stoked for when it comes out. One of the best guitarists going.

Never understood why people liked this guy so much.
Because the guy is an absolute prodigy.
| | | Really creative dude with a signature style. May jam it.
| | | Dudes tone is instantly recognizable.
| | | Excited for this... dude is a beast
| | | Hope the dvd isn't as obscure as the other ones he's done. I want a solid making of, yo.

Because the guy is an absolute prodigy.
Everything i've heard of his (which admittedly isn't much) has been really showy but extremely uninteresting. What's a good song/album/whatever to check out?
| | | All the albums are worth a spin, bud. I think the album Vertigo shows best on his ability to play different styles, but all his albums bring something for you to take.
Depends if you like instrumental albums. But John doesn't use any pedals, if I'm not mistaken, so all the crazy shit you hear is him and that Tele!
| | | Art of Malice is his best imo. It's quirky, it's fun, it's exhilarating, it's fast, and it ultimately feels like the soundtrack to a big-budget action film.
But yeah, they're all pretty good in their own right, with the exception of Requiem.
| | | Yeah totally agreed, Froot. I'd probably say AoM is my favourtie, too. Requiem being the weakest.
