Well this is interesting. I'm a fan of Spencer's vocals most of the time and I loved this band when I was younger so I'll definitely give this a shot when it comes out.
|
| |
Well he shall be a very busy man
|
| |
now he just has to quit periphery : )
|
| |
What about Skrillex
|
| |
super weird, but we'll see how this plays out
|
| |
wut..........
|
| |
I loved Sonny in FFTL, and I like Spencer's singing in Periphery but i'm not as big of a fan of the music itself...plus the new version of Latest Plague sounds AWESOME. I'm really excited.
|
| |
that's one of the most unfitting combos i can think of, but it'll probably be more interesting than if matt did vocals again. the band'll get way more attention now too.
|
| |
the original is far better tbh
|
| |
I only ship misha and spencer so I don't approve
|
| |
I agree that the original version of that song is better, but I assume their new songs will have Spencer's vocals in mind and be more fitted to his sound.
|
| |
was that a 7 string guitar i saw travis holding? ughhh, well atleast the clip sounded alright
|
| |
People may hate Spencer's vox but the dude is spot on live. And short as fuck.
http://imgur.com/eVaScCU
Im only like 5'10 lol
|
| |
what the fucking fuck
|
| |
Well he's better than Sonny Moore or Matt Good so w/e
|
| |
YEAH, NIKKOLAE, BANDS THAT USE SEVEN STRINGS SUCK
LIKE DEFTONES, ALL SHALL PERISH, BLEEDING THROUGH, MESHUGGAH, NILE...
YOU KNOW, ALL THOSE BANDS YOU TOTALLY HATE THAT I DIDN'T SEE IN YOUR RATINGS WITH POSITIVE RATINGS
COOL
|
| |
hmmmm...
|
| |
Periphery III: This Time It's From First to Last
|
| |
My low interest in this thing has been lowered more. I can see why they chose him, I just hate his
vocals. While Spencer was spot on live he was just lol. He oversung most his parts an nearly fell off
the stage trying to be cool and stand on a speaker.
|
| |
"LIKE DEFTONES, ALL SHALL PERISH, BLEEDING THROUGH, MESHUGGAH, NILE..."
did you just really put Meshuggah on the same level as FFTL? wow
|
| |
Oh dear, I'm sorry I mentioned Meshuggah in the same context as other bands that use the same instrument. That totally means I think both have accomplished the same things artistically.
Couldn't be that I'm just pointing out that seven strings aren't inherently bad. I mean, my point couldn't possibly be that it's stupid to write off extended range guitars on sight.
|
| |
Only good thing that has happened this week..
|
| |
I saw this out and yelled aloud
"NO WAY"
|
| |
I liked Matt. This should be interesting I guess.
|
| |
okay 1st off, art is not about acomplishment, its about abstract expresion, whatever both bands have
acomplished is irrelevant
that being said, both bands are stylisticaly diferent so the fact that they play 7strings has nothing
to do with it, in fact that might be the only common ground both bands have
last but not least, 7 strings are not bad, but i highly doubt FFTL as a band would put them to good
use like some of the bands you pointed out i like, hence my coment
TL;DR stop fucking raging
|
| |
This is a very bizarre move.
|
| |
Band gets Spencer Sotelo, doesn't have Derek Bloom anymore, adds a third guitar player...what is going on? This will be interesting.
|
| |
Red flags everywhere.
|
| |
travis and spencer aww yiss
|
| |
Nikkolae, you are trying so hard to undermine my point that I think your butt is about to turn inside out. First you insinuated I was trying to put some band you have a hard on for on the level of a band you don't, now you're throwing semantics about art and subjectivity around. None of the bands I mentioned play them the same way.
Also, even if FFTL play them in the exact same way they play six strings... What's the problem? They're competent six stringers, what changes on a seven? You can only be implying they'll succumb to chuggachugga or djent or breakdowns for little to no reason other than cynicism.
tldr; stop being a snooty cynic.
|
| |
People may hate Spencer's vox but the dude is spot on live. And short as fuck.
Sonny Moore is 5'4
Anyways, I suspect that their style will change completely on this new EP. Travis was in THA for a
while, the last album showed an evolution of their style (which I imagine will continue) and they got
Spencer as a vocalist. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they go for a slightly more techy sound.
|
| |
Kill's favorite front man
|
| |
Wow that seems like an odd combination, never got into FFTL but will have to listen to their next album just to hear how it goes
|
| |
1: "First you insinuated I was trying to put some band you have a hard on for on the level of a band
you don't,"
I never brough them up, you did, and seriously fftl and Messhugah are not even alike,
fail to see why you keep dissecting that, btw i really do like fftl, might have been able
to catch that if you'd you know, checked all of my ratings but whatevsbr />
2: "None of the bands I mentioned play them the same way."
good, i never said they did either.
3; "You can only be implying they'll succumb to chuggachugga or djent or breakdowns"
wasnt that implicit to begin with? smh
and last but not least "tldr; stop being a snooty cynic."
sure man, i'll get right on it
|
| |
Hmm, interesting move on their part. I like the fact that they are adding an unknown element into the band, it should continue to make them sound a bit more fresh. I enjoyed Throne to the Wolves, so I am anticipating their new stuff.
|
| |
what the fucking fuck [5]
|
| |
Why are people surprised? His voice fits that style of music way better than any kind of progressive metal
|
| |
Oh my God, I also brought up several other bands, I was listing bands that prove seven strings are valid instruments. You got hung up on Meshuggah and made up all this crap about how I put them on the same level, that I'm comparing them, blah deh blah deh blah... What is wrong with you?
And, yes, it was implicit, I'm saying that's the only thing you could mean, and it's just cynical. I note you never addressed why you think that, either. You're just being a cynical, extended range guitar detractor.
|
| |
now leave periphery lol
|
| |
please leave periphery so they can be a good band again.
please please please please
|
| |
Cograts to Nikolae for completely missing the point of somebody's post over and over
|
| |
"Cograts to Nikolae for completely missing the point of somebody's post over and over" [2]
|
| |
'please leave periphery'
l o l
|
| |
He isn't leaving Periphery.
|
| |
obviously
all these niggas are drooling at the mouth for him to leave tho
|
| |
leave periphery and the transformation will be complete
|
| |
GUYS I DONT LIKE PERIPHERY
|
| |
^sputnik in a nutshell
|
| |
i like periphery instrumental but i just cant dig spencer. i've tried. there are a few songs that don't suck but most are just grating on my ears.
|
| |
According to wikipedia the band asked Skrillex if he was interested, seems like he's rich now and doesn't need that.
|
| |
He is fukin sick live. I like his vocals to the extent that I he can sing his ass off and scream p good. But he is far from my favourite.
Anywho....
NOTE TO SELF I MISS YOU TERRIBLY
THIS IS WHAT WE CALL A TRAGEDY
COME BACK TO ME
COME BACK TO ME
Feel like im 15 all over again
|
| |
I love Spencer's vocals and I never really listened to FFTL so right about now seems like a decent time to give them a chance. Happy day indeed.
|
| |
well this is just...odd tbh
|
| |
Sounds better here than he does in periphery. Predicting cringey djent riffs in the new from first to last material
|
| |
