From First To Last, who just returned after a three year hiatus and are currently recording a fan-funded EP, have announced that they have a new lead vocalist. Joining them in the current incarnation of the band will be Spencer Sotelo of Periphery. He will be a full member of both bands, and will be performing on the EP. Follow the link below to see the original announcement from the band, which also includes a clip of Sotelo performing the band's song "The Latest Plague" in studio.

Well this is interesting. I'm a fan of Spencer's vocals most of the time and I loved this band when I was younger so I'll definitely give this a shot when it comes out.

I loved Sonny in FFTL, and I like Spencer's singing in Periphery but i'm not as big of a fan of the music itself...plus the new version of Latest Plague sounds AWESOME. I'm really excited.

that's one of the most unfitting combos i can think of, but it'll probably be more interesting than if matt did vocals again. the band'll get way more attention now too.

I agree that the original version of that song is better, but I assume their new songs will have Spencer's vocals in mind and be more fitted to his sound.

YOU KNOW, ALL THOSE BANDS YOU TOTALLY HATE THAT I DIDN'T SEE IN YOUR RATINGS WITH POSITIVE RATINGS

My low interest in this thing has been lowered more. I can see why they chose him, I just hate his
vocals. While Spencer was spot on live he was just lol. He oversung most his parts an nearly fell off
the stage trying to be cool and stand on a speaker.

"LIKE DEFTONES, ALL SHALL PERISH, BLEEDING THROUGH, MESHUGGAH, NILE..."

did you just really put Meshuggah on the same level as FFTL? wow

CutMan

Oh dear, I'm sorry I mentioned Meshuggah in the same context as other bands that use the same instrument. That totally means I think both have accomplished the same things artistically.

Couldn't be that I'm just pointing out that seven strings aren't inherently bad. I mean, my point couldn't possibly be that it's stupid to write off extended range guitars on sight.

okay 1st off, art is not about acomplishment, its about abstract expresion, whatever both bands have
acomplished is irrelevant

that being said, both bands are stylisticaly diferent so the fact that they play 7strings has nothing
to do with it, in fact that might be the only common ground both bands have

last but not least, 7 strings are not bad, but i highly doubt FFTL as a band would put them to good
use like some of the bands you pointed out i like, hence my coment

TL;DR stop fucking raging

Nikkolae, you are trying so hard to undermine my point that I think your butt is about to turn inside out. First you insinuated I was trying to put some band you have a hard on for on the level of a band you don't, now you're throwing semantics about art and subjectivity around. None of the bands I mentioned play them the same way.

Also, even if FFTL play them in the exact same way they play six strings... What's the problem? They're competent six stringers, what changes on a seven? You can only be implying they'll succumb to chuggachugga or djent or breakdowns for little to no reason other than cynicism.

tldr; stop being a snooty cynic.

Sonny Moore is 5'4

Anyways, I suspect that their style will change completely on this new EP. Travis was in THA for a
while, the last album showed an evolution of their style (which I imagine will continue) and they got
Spencer as a vocalist. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they go for a slightly more techy sound.

1: "First you insinuated I was trying to put some band you have a hard on for on the level of a band
you don't,"

I never brough them up, you did, and seriously fftl and Messhugah are not even alike,
fail to see why you keep dissecting that, btw i really do like fftl, might have been able
to catch that if you'd you know, checked all of my ratings but whatevsbr />

2: "None of the bands I mentioned play them the same way."

good, i never said they did either.

3; "You can only be implying they'll succumb to chuggachugga or djent or breakdowns"

wasnt that implicit to begin with? smh

and last but not least "tldr; stop being a snooty cynic."

sure man, i'll get right on it

Hmm, interesting move on their part. I like the fact that they are adding an unknown element into the band, it should continue to make them sound a bit more fresh. I enjoyed Throne to the Wolves, so I am anticipating their new stuff.

Oh my God, I also brought up several other bands, I was listing bands that prove seven strings are valid instruments. You got hung up on Meshuggah and made up all this crap about how I put them on the same level, that I'm comparing them, blah deh blah deh blah... What is wrong with you?

And, yes, it was implicit, I'm saying that's the only thing you could mean, and it's just cynical. I note you never addressed why you think that, either. You're just being a cynical, extended range guitar detractor.
