Icarus the Owl announces album

2014-01-11 by Julianna Reed EMERITUS | 21 Comments
Portland-based progressive pop rock group Icarus the Owl is releasing its self-titled album on February 7th, which will be the band's third full-length to date. The album came to light from the group's Kickstarter, whose success allowed the album to be produced by Kris Crummett (who has worked with Sleeping With Sirens, Closure In Moscow and most recently A Lot Like Birds.)

Singer and guitarist Joey Rubinstein describes the upcoming self-titled album as "an exploration of complex and progressive music while not losing sight of melody and cohesion.” In other words, it has a lot in common with Love Always, Leviathan.

Icarus The Owl's tracklisting is as follows:

1. Ignore Check Engine Lights

2. Black Fish

3. Dethroned

4. In Aeternum

5. This Too Will Pass

6. The Monster Within

7. Touchstone

8. Lily Trotter

9. Flint And Steel

10. Crimson Covered Walls

11. Input. Time. Destruct.

12. Chronos, The Destroyer

13. The Pharmacist

The only thing I remember about Clockstoppers is the first time I ever heard Blink-182.

I thought the clean sections sounded pretty different than their other stuff, but when the distortion and the lead guitar came in, it felt right back at home.

But yeah, song is great.
