I was going into this album expecting a half decent, albeit generic metalcore album. Well it turns out I was anything but right. This album blew me away in terms of beautiful guitar leads, melody, songwriting, vocals, drumming, hell even the bass has some fabulous moments. This is a metalcore album at heart, but at times ventures into the depths of progressive metal, and succeeds. Overall this is an excellent album and anyone who appreciates non - generic metalcore or progressive metal should check this out.

Album is very good. Granted, there's too many breakdowns and the vocalist doesn't really fulfill his potential here, but its fun as hell, and for people who aren't like FearThyEvil who only care whether it fits into their elitist persona, its massively enjoyable at times.

I'd like to point out there's a few bands in this genre I despise and I can't stand this band. I heard the singles from this and thought they were awful. Do I really need to go and try this stream when I can pretty much guess the outcome? No, I don't think i need to. I just won't rate the album.

I've had my 5's brought up all the time and I don't bitch about it. I posted his 5's in a way to state his taste is not something I'm into indicating I'd rather take a pass on the album since we don't share much common interest and he recommended I try it. If it sounds harsh oh well.

Yeah the ending to The Writer is so fucking good. And I can understand how some people might get bored after listening to these guys for a while, but in no way are they bad. They do a lot of cool stuff in this album that people will never hear because they're stubborn music elitists like FearThyEvil.

Cool stuff like write a riff, or some sweep? It's been done to death and I'm not a elitist at all. I hate the band a lot and people are just not getting that. These guys do nothing unique or special but everyone eats it up because they can't get enough of them breakdowns. I've listened to "The Writer" btw and it was 2/5 at best.

^I don't like breakdowns and I like this band. Their guitar leads are fantastic and yes they do switch it up. They produce great atmosphere at times as well. What the fuck are you looking for? a lot of weird time signatures? more scale changes? That's progressive and technical sure, but for a lot of us, it just doesn't sound that good. Good songwriting isn't always writing the most complex thing. In my opinion, good songwriting is making music that sounds excellent, and this does. Yes, writing a cool riff or a cool sweep is very cool. Why wouldn't it be? Others have written riffs, but not those ones.

There's nothing unique at all about what this band does. The Writer is something BOO has done with their new album which is an almost constant chug with sweeps over it and an attempt at ambiance in the background. I'm not saying it has to be balls to the wall crazy to be good but this is just beyond boring.

I found the new BOO album to be terrible. But I do understand the comparison. Lots of chugs with
melody and keys added, I just think it's done way better here. To some people chugging is chugging, I
get that, but I think a lot of it on this album is actually catchy and fun, while the stuff on the new
BOO album just puts me to sleep.

Lack of originality isn't an issue for me. I don't care how many times something has been done, if it
sounds good and isn't literally the EXACT riff or melody or whatever else that some other band uses
then I'm happy.

I have not said that once, I'm only stating how much I dislike this band and don't see why people latch onto them so much when it sounds like every other "poor" band in this genre. You can like them fine, but just understand I doubt I'll take your word to check them out because our taste in metalcore is way off. Metalcore is one of my favorite genres but bands like this can be found at every corner.

Based on the singles from them that I've heard, I very much doubt that.

Their new album is basically a dumbed down after the burial.

Gave the Reflections album a listen. No emotion, no energy, and they sound like they ripped all of their material directly from ATB. I acknowledge that BoS are generic, but I could still pick them out of a huge crowd of bands with ease, there is enough uniqueness in their sound to prevent them from sounding like some other band's clone.
