hope the new album wont be as shit as black rainbow. song is not bad. progresses nice till the end. still, they used to be better than this
| |
Interesting to see them from a more indie angle
Song is nice but not outstanding, has nothing on Domino
| |
"only one listen but this might be the most boring song they've ever done"
That would be Mother, May I
| |
indie? this song reminds me of dreampop.
| |
Fair nuff, it bored me a lot
| |
eh, not bad - nothing special though. album will still rule.
| |
Yeah, maybe they released this to tone it down after Domino and relax the hype
| |
Pretty interesting choice to release for first impressions. That was boring as fuck.
| |
Rather listen to that fucking Batman soundtrack garbage that wasn't even a halfway decent Prize Fighter Inferno song.
| |
This is pretty cool. Don't get the hate.
| |
rules
| |
Great.
| |
I really liked it, actually. Pretty stoked for this album
| |
so glad i dont like this band
| |
Y?
| |
pimpin
| |
I thought the album was called Domino the Destitute. Oh well, song is alright
| |
Great song
| |
"Domino the Destitute" is just another track.
There's like three "key personnel extraction" tracks or something, and that's the first of 'em.
| |
nice track, I've always enjoyed Coheed's softer side
| |
Kinda different, I dig it.
| |
Pretty great. It's a nice change of pace from the usual instrumental album openers. At least this would make the most sense as an album openers.
| |
Boring as shit, but I knew they wouldn't all be great.
| |
Not a bad song at all, guitar picking in the beginning sounds like Modest Mouse to me though.
| |
This song is coming as such a stark constrast to the previous release one.
| |
seems like such a random song to release ahead of time...It's like if they had released Always and
Never before Good Apollo I came out
| |
not enough cowbell, i agree
| |
I liked it, good intro to the album.
| |
I refuse to cave in to my urges to listen. I preordered the deluxe, dammit.
| |
meh
| |
I dig it.
| |
I love it. This is coming from a fanboy though haha, I may be a bit biased. So stoked to get my box set in the mail
| |
Haven't heard this yet, but I heard it described as fun. meets Angels and Airwaves. Is this person accurate, or retarded (which I suspect is the case)?
| |
Thought the song was great
| |
You guys know this isn't the intro song, right?
| |
Track Listing:
1. The Hollow
2. Key Work Entity Extraction I: Domino The Destitute
3. The Afterman - (This is the song on Rolling Stone)
4. Mothers of Men
5. Good Night Fair Lady
6. Key Work Entity Extraction II: Holly Wood The Cracked
7. Key Work Entity Extraction III: Vic The Butcher
8. Key Work Entity Extraction IV: Evagria The Faithful
9. Subtraction
| |
that was cool
| |
I found it boring
| |
I bet it's a lot better in the context of the album
| |
so boring
| |
I liked it.
| |
I'm down with it
| |
"Wake Up is their most boring by a landslide"
agreed
| |
better than anything on YOTBR
| |
Wake Up is also boring, agreed, but Mother May I does very little for me
| |
I like it
| |
Not too crazy about this one, but I think it will make more sense in the album context. It's not bad, but I would've liked the song to go out of its original pattern. I thought we were in for a cool guitar solo when the clean lead guitar comes in at the outro, too bad!
| |
i agree with the context part. except i'm over Claudio's solos. some grandiose bombastic solo does not make or break a coheed song for me
| |
where are his characteristic vocals? where is the awesomeness? he sounds like hes whispering the whole time. wouldnt even call this singing.
anyway, song was 'okay'.
| |
It ended too quickly after the climax but it was pretty good.
Also, here's another track: http://minus.com/lss1HLZzbUkTx
| |
fuck i gotta get home and listen to that asap
| |
It's the second Key Entity Extraction track; it's okay. I'm hoping these two songs are the two weakest on the album...they're both too short to really go anywhere exciting.
| |
Well Domino is awesome, and the previews for the other two Key Entity tracks sounded really cool...but I don't see this being any better than a 3-3.5 after hearing three full songs + the intro.
| |
ya, that Hollywood song blows. damn..
| |
yeah i can't use the "context" defense for that hollywood track. it's pretty bad
| |
Sounds like a mediocre version of "Al the killer" :-/
| |
I liked both
| |
Man I would really enjoy "Afterman" the song if it were longer, it ends just as soon as it really gets going.
| |
ok i mean honestly i really like holly wood im on a full on fanboy mode right now song rules
| |
I like Claudio's higher pitched vocals in it but overall it's kinda ehh.
| |
Let me preface this by saying I'm a total fanboy. I worship this band and their infallible musical scripture.
That being said....
This song (while short) is an awesome new direction for these guys. It easily holds up with the best tracks on Year of The Black Rainbow (my least favorite album of theirs). I also really dig Holly Wood the Cracked. Way different from anything they've every done. I dig the bass, and it's nice to see a little baddass. Thanks for posting that link. I can't wait to hear all these songs in context on my deluxe edition!
DOMINO is already on my top 3 favorite Coheed jams. I hope the rest of Afterman brings us more of that style. And Mother May I as amazing. You who say different are fools...fools I tell you!
| |
Hollywood doesn't really sound new for them; it just sounds like the cock-rock from NWFT but with a sillier-looking cock.
| |
I thought Domino was boring oddly. I'll check this out later, I have a feeling it's gonna be decent. The best snippet of this album I heard was that acoustic version of Sentry the Defiant Claudio did.
| |
sounds like an interlude
| |
"It ended too quickly after the climax"
Doesn't make sense
| |
I would have preferred some extended falling-action to the denouement, how about that?
| |
Whats with the hate? Domino the Destitute was hook-less garbage. This is much nicer. Soft Coheed is always better.
| |
"Whats with the hate? Domino the Destitute was hook-less garbage. This is much nicer. Soft Coheed is always better."
Are you insane? Calling something "hook-less garbage" just indicates that you're looking for the simplest track that can keep your attention. Not everything has to have a blatant hook to be interesting. Was blood red summer your favorite track off IKSSE? Domino the Destitude has plenty of hooks, they just weren't as overt and purely surface-level as "Soft Coheed" is. Coheed works best when they blend a few of their poppy hooks into their well-written prog. It's a nice balance of capturing the listener's attention up-front but holding enough depth to keep people interested over multiple listens. All of their softer stuff is just blatantly streamlined as one-dimensional pop songs that can definitely be catchy, but there's really nothing redeeming beyond that.
| |
I'm not talking about simply pop hooks. Well, sometimes, because that's what they do sometimes and it works. I mean...nothing held my attention or stood out like their other tracks do.
| |
I think their tracks that rely on "simply pop hooks" are always lame personally.
But IDK, Domino had that expansive structure where it built with a chorus that was catchy, but a bit more subtle and not just blatantly hook-filled which I felt was intentional to keep listeners interested while it built until it broke out into some great soloing and emotional releases.
But I honestly thought the choruses in Domino were some of the best the group has had since FFTTEOM
| |
shit
| |
It took me a couple a listens to truly enjoy Domino so I'm pretty sure the same will happen with these songs. I'm not going to try and get my hopes up too high like I did with YOTBR and then get let down again
| |
Meh. Kind of cool to hear them put out an indie song, I guess. Will make for a more varied album, at least.
| |
Song actually kicks ass.
| |
I dig, a lot actually. Slow Coheed is always pretty great, and Holly Wood is still pretty decent, and will hopefully set up for a great ending to the album.
| |
Hmmm...maybe Domino is a grower, then. We'll see how it sounds within the context of the album.
Yeah I listened to Holly Wood twice....great chorus, but the rest is just..bad. I guess they're just experimenting though.
| |
The song's atmospheric and sad vibe that draws from Prize Fighter makes sense because of the song content. It's about a really good friend of his wife that died.
| |
I think this is a very beautiful song,
and yeah
this song isn't that one song they wrote, and that makes it not as good, and bands should never change, and WELCOME HOME, this song isn't good as that one good song.
| |
i actually liked the hollywood song. around 1:40, has to be the highest note claudio is recorded hitting since a favor house atlantic.
| |
I still wish it were a little longer, but I'm really digging "The Afterman" right now.
| |
ya, I also spoke too soon regarding The Afterman. Song rules. Hollywood is still pretty bad though.
| |
FUCKING A LOADED GUN
| |
lol the photo in that link is a pretty gay band picture
| |
I like this a lot more now, great song
| |
