This is the worst news ever. The Always Open Mouth was one of my favourite albums ever made. fuuuuck
|
| |
2009 took a very weird turn for us and it kinda left all of us collectively and individually wondering what the hell we were doing.
Yeah I felt the same way when they released their last trash of an album.
Always open mouth is great but they have been horrible since, definitely time for a split.
|
| |
The way I read the title, I thought that Fear Before were releasing a split EP with another band and got momentarily stoked.
Instead I get this bad news. Damn. Art Damage and The Always Open Mouth were two really awesome albums.
|
| |
well this put me in an awful mood. amazing band. taom is a classic.
|
| |
Seriously underrated band. Indeed all of their albums are awesome, but for their "self-titled." Of course TAOM is on a whole nother level. Sucks.
|
| |
man, that sucks. i hope they reform in a few years.
|
| |
their last album was total shit but the always open mouth is a classic
|
| |
FUUUUUUUUUUCK, I was pretty anxious for a new record but I guess you could sorta see this coming after no news or anything for quite awhile. Regardless, TAOM will always bee one of my favourite records.
|
| |
I refuse to use their shortened name on my iPod. The change seems somehow contiguous with the label change and album quality and makes me picture some record exec having an epiphany about shortening it for commercial reasons.
|
| |
fuck haters their latest album was awesome
|
| |
seriously the worst news of 2011.
|
| |
fuck me. everything other than their last album was good especially TOAM.i reallyreallyreally hope they put at least one more thing out
|
| |
Fear Before confirm split?
iseewhutudidthur
|
| |
It wasn't as bad as many made it out to be. I think it's just the fact that it followed TAOM.
|
| |
Last album was bad.
|
| |
after the name change they fucking sucked. not losing anything of value here.
|
| |
I've never seen a band change their name after releasing four LPs.
|
| |
"2009 took a very weird turn for us and it kinda left all of us collectively and individually wondering what the hell we were doing." lol
|
| |
this is very depressing.
|
| |
Seriously, worst news of the year. Their last album wasn't up to standards, but it was still pretty damn awesome, and I had really high hopes for their newest work. Hopefully they'll do something again soon...
|
| |
This is sad news I loved TAOM.
|
| |
This is going to kill me.
|
| |
Last album sucked.
|
| |
Why do all the best bands split?
|
| |
im not sure if you noticed but approximately 100% of bands split up
|
| |
fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
seriously the worst news of 2011. [2]
|
| |
Not exactly unexpected. Still sucks. TAOM really deserved to get more initial love than it did, it's seriously a modern classic.
|
| |
aww that sucks. loved taking cassandra to the end of the world party so much
|
| |
"Bands is like a one hit (album wise) wonder"
Art Damage was pretty badass too.
|
| |
xfearbeforexxxx or w/e is gonna be maaaad
|
| |
what'd you all forget Odd How People Shake? jeez..
|
| |
WHAT THE FUCK. i thought they were talking all this shit earlier about how they were working on new material and then this shit happens. the self-titled was pretty disappointing, but i was hoping they'd bounce back
|
| |
:'(
|
| |
This is truly bad news. Truly.
|
| |
Fuck
|
| |
I seriously thought they were working on another album. This sucks.
|
| |
booooooooooooo
|
| |
GOD-FUCKING-DAMMIT.
FUCKING FUCK FUCK FUCKING SHIT FUCK FUCK.
I'm gutted. Especially after all the news of having written heaps of material. Fuck that.
|
| |
I've never seen a band change their name after releasing four LPs.
Shihad
|
| |
Time to spin The Always Open Mouth again.
|
| |
Yeah, too bad. Gonna spin TAOM in memory.
|
| |
More Orbs plz.
|
| |
orbs just isnt that cool compared to what this band has done
|
| |
I'm probably the only person who actually likes their self titled album. It's definitely a step in a different direction, but it's still lots of fun to listen to.
|
| |
OHPS > TAOM > S/T > AD
|
| |
"OHPS > TAOM > S/T > AD"
gtfo
|
| |
TAOM >AD> S/T > OHPS for me.
|
| |
Sucks. I even liked their self titled.
|
| |
Damn. I just happened to be listening to "Prequel to the Sequel" by Between the Buried and Me upon reading this.
|
| |
"I'm probably the only person who actually likes their self titled album. It's definitely a step in a different direction, but it's still lots of fun to listen to."
Thing is, that 'step in a different direction' was a blatant attempt to simplify the music and appeal to a more mainstream crowd. In conjunction with their name change and label change, it was obviously a dumbing down of their music.
Its a shame they never achieved the level of success they deserved with TAOM, because that album owns bones.
|
| |
^^^
Their first two albums are chaotic masterpieces. TAOM is basically the most perfect marriage of electronics and post-hardcore I've ever heard.
|
| |
Aho, it appears that Fear Before really need the March of Flames to write good music... eh, eh?
|
| |
Really does seem like a sad little fable. Wait, how did I not know about Orbs?
|
| |
Had a shitty day yesterday and came home last night so see this. Fuck.
Will listen to all four albums at some point today.
|
| |
Self-Titled was fucking awesome I don't get all the hate.
|
| |
It definitely was a step down, but people saying that they suck now are wrong, they had one bad album after a masterpiece, who knows what they could have released in the future. This is a sad day, these dudes were awesome.
|
| |
Who is the other band on the split EP?
|
| |
"friends. do not mistake my previous post for a break up announcement. it was an update letting you
know that we are currently inactive and there is no forthcoming record from us as of now. i cannot say
what the future holds.-adam" From their Facebook, looks like they haven't split but it will be a while
before anything else from them. I enjoyed the All Human demos though poor production aside, interested
to hear more from that little project.
|
| |
Why the fuck has pretty much nobody mentioned Odd How People Shake? Easily their best record.
OHPS > TAOM > AD > ST
|
| |
Nah, The Always Open Mouth destroys Odd How People Shake. But Odd How People Shake is still pretty fucking rad.
|
| |
Dammit, I was so looking forward to a new album.
Also, when they mention 2009 being a weird year for them, one of their roadies fell off a roof during their Australian tour resulting in severe injuries and then they were forced to leave him there.
|
| |
omg they're coming out with a new split!!!
|
| |
The idea that the s/t was an attempt to try to achieve some sort of mainstream success is insane. If anything that album was inaccessible and too out there for some people. Odd How People Shake is one of those records that's cool when your younger but it doesn't hold up like their later records.
|
| |
No, im pretty sure anyone who isnt tone deaf can hear how simplified the S/T was compared to TAOM.
They clearly were trying to become more accessible after years of obscurity and endless touring. Seriously ive seen these guys in like 4 different states without even trying. They toured endlessly and worked their asses off and just didnt achieve the success they wanted most likely.
|
| |
I've heard this argument a lot when people reference the last album. The lyrics were still weird if not weirder than TAOM and musically they were as challenging as they had always been. Maybe you think that minimizing the screams or maybe that the music wasn't as heavy as it once was made it more accessible. I just disagree with that though and see it as them taking a chance considering Dave hadn't tried singing that much in the past. I find it funny though that you had to brag about seeing them in 4 states though "without even trying." I honestly understand the difference of opinion about what people think is more accessible but that's just kind of lame dude.
|
| |
Self titled is 5/5.
|
| |
yeah all human demos were pretty nice, looking forward to full length. wander what the future of Orbs is?
|
| |
The self titled record is just as weird as TAOM. Just because it has less electronics doesn't make it "simplified".
|
| |
damn one more awesome band fades away and 5 more pop singers will magically appear
|
| |
Talked to Adam after a show.
Dave just got married and he'll tour again but not for a bit. His wife just moved to the U.S. so i think it's a bit unfair for them to get split up so soon after marriage.
Mike just got married and it done, he's been selling gear on craigslist from what i've seen.
Adam wants to tour and Goose does but it's up in the air. Goose is in Salt Lake and working with Loom again. Adam is in Colorado and doing Orbs. They have eight songs for a new album and are working with that. He's done a solo show or two and has enough material for a solo album. Brandon Proff will do the drums and it's more electronic sounding like The Always Open Mouth was. Expect that summer of 2012.
If another album is released it will be under Fear Before the March of Flames. The band is also working on the absolute future absolute past dvd. that will be released somewhat soon.
|
| |
I want all of that to be true.
|
| |
I hope it is true though
