Draiman: "Not a fan" of Phil
2006-10-25 by Jom STAFF | 10 Replies | 1023 Views

On their third album Ten-Thousand Fists, which has sold over 1,000,000 copies since its release in September, Disturbed covered Genesis' "Land of Confusion" and have recently released it as a single.

According to Launch, frontman David Draiman has gone on record stating that he's heard the members of Genesis (who originally recorded the track) supposedly like Disturbed's rendition, but also put rather bluntly that he couldn't care less about what the band's opinion is.

To be honest with you, I really don't care what they think. You know, I'm not trying to jab or anything, I'm just saying that I'm not a fan. I'm a fan of Genesis prior to Phil Collins. I don't really like Phil. But, you know, he's probably gonna end up making some money off this track, so I don't know what else to really articulate about it that isn't gonna get my butt in trouble, said Draiman before laughing.

In November, Disturbed will hit the road with their trademark Music as a Weapon tour, with feature acts Nonpoint, Flyleaf, and Stone Sour joining the band.

Listen to their cover and watch the video for it at Disturbed's mySpace, as well as hear an unreleased song recorded in 2005:

Disturbed get 1 cool point for liking Gabriel Genesis, giving them a grand total of 1 cool point

Okay, so Disturbed covered "Land of Confusion", which is a Collins-era Genesis song, and David is being hypocritical by publicly denouncing Phil Collins. He covered Phil's song. What a fucking fickle douchebag. This Message Edited On 10.25.06

It's very possible to like a song, but not be a fan of the band.

I'm personally a huge Genesis fan, and I think Disturb's cover does the original no justice. It seems like this is pointless bashing by Draiman to me. I've been wrong before though....
