ohshiz :| i grew up on this man's input to RHCP, will be a completely different band now.
The beginning of the end, hopefully there's something After the Ending though < /lame>
|
| |
Don't mind...as long as he keeps making music himself
|
| |
As if 2009 didn't suck enough
|
| |
I call bullshit. No way Josh fucking Klinghoffer is replacing Frusciante
|
| |
Damn it, John...
I don't want a Frusciante-less RHCP.
|
| |
Even though Frusciante was calling all the shots on Stadium Arcadium and that album sucked big time..
|
| |
Yes Yes Yes Yes Frusciante more solo stuff yes yes yes
|
| |
i still can't get over how much the drummer looks like will ferrell
|
| |
great now that means more shitty albums in the future if chili peppers ever make more.
|
| |
NOOOOOO. At the least we'll get me solo stuff.
And ebay I've thought that too.
|
| |
should have replaced the entire band with Vincent Gallo
|
| |
fuuuuuuuuuck
|
| |
More solo stuff = better than new RHCP
|
| |
They should have at least gotten Navarro back
|
| |
Maybe now their songs will be original again.
|
| |
Hah after playing with Chickenfoot Chad Smith was probably like..."jeeeeez now I gotta play with this hack again?"
|
| |
All of his solo stuff is much better than By The Way or Stadium Arcadium so this isn't really that bad a thing.
RHCP was one of the bands I really wanted to see live though, but not without Frusciante.
|
| |
:/
|
| |
Wow this was a total surprise
|
| |
god damn it john. you were imo a crucial member of rhcp and now you're leaving again?! wtf dude. let's just hope the music doesn't become inferior now because of this loss.
|
| |
damn, this is too bad, at least his solo stuff will remain awesome.
time for john to become the third member of the mars volta.
|
| |
screw TMV
|
| |
i still can't get over how much the drummer looks like will ferrell
haha true
not a big fan of rhcp anymore but this is pretty bad news, although frusciante's solo work was better than a lot of the recent rhcp albums.
|
| |
frusciante has the chemistry with these guys that makes this a big loss
|
| |
navarro was shit by the way, even though i liked one hot minute
|
| |
he was a large reason why i like these guys so much, but i'm looking forward to some more new solo material
|
| |
That chemistry didn't stop Stadium Arcadium being such a piece of shit. One Hot Minute was way better
|
| |
"More solo stuff = better than new RHCP"
yessss, i want more solo stuff from him, as it's so fucking awesome
|
| |
Ryan Reynolds for new guitarist!
|
| |
RHCP were brought down by their own success these last years, so I understand what Frusciante's doing. His solo record from this year was fantastic, so if he can keep that up...
They're jumping just a bit too quick on that replacemnt though...
|
| |
Man, that's rough for die-hard RHCP fans. Weren't they just saying they were ready to come back from their little hiatus? Ouch.
|
| |
Although I do like some RHCP material I do prefer Frusciante's solo stuff. I hope both RHCP & Frusciante can benefit from this
|
| |
time for john to become the third member of the mars volta.
i thought he was in volta
|
| |
ahh yes hopefully he can do some more collobarations with omar and the mars volta
|
| |
good, he's better without them
|
| |
My heart fucking stopped.
But on the bright side, there can't be anyone more fit for the job than Klinghoffer. The Bicycle Thief was awesome
I'm going to go kill myself
Also, "ahh yes hopefully he can do some more collobarations with omar and the mars volta "
^^ Fucking screw TMV
|
| |
=( This sucks
|
| |
I still can't get over how much the drummer looks like Will Ferrel. Seriously.
|
| |
Reaction from the RHCP fan forums:
"I am shocked. It will take me a while to understand that and be able to fully HATE this news. I want to ignore it. NO. It's like my father'd died to me.."
"we must believe that he will still put out his music...I firmly believe that he will, god willing"
"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"
|
| |
This sucks indeed. Hope he will return soon.
|
| |
I am a disciple of the "Froosh", got into "Shadows Collide With People in 2004. RHCP was restriciting his creativity, and causing him to take steps backward in his musical endeavors. For a recovering addict, this is not healthy behavior.
Since "The Empyrean" was one of his strongest records, I not only support future RHCP work, but I am enthralled about more strong solo records from the man who outgrew the success which he is responsible for.
"Don't Crowd Me" - John Frusciante
|
| |
Poor Flea. He's the only talented one left.
|
| |
Weren't they on hiatus anyways?
|
| |
Why would any guitarist leave the Flea/Chad combo anyway
That's like a goldmine, speaking as both a guitarist and a drummer
|
| |
craig owens should get on this...
|
| |
Good. Frusciante was one of the only redeeming points of that band IMO. Anthony Kiedis is a fucking hack that needs to stop making music, and people need to get off Flea's nuts as there are far better bassists. Chad Smith is a great drummer groove-wise but technically nothing special
|
| |
^ stfu
|
| |
If this means more Frusciante solo albums then this is the best news ever.
|
| |
I think this is actually a good thing. I really got tired of formula that they started doing with and after Californication. Even though, I think Californication is a good album. By the Way had some decent tracks, but all of their songs just started sounding the same. That same pop song. Hopefully, there can be a little freshness involved for both John and RHCP.
|
| |
BRING BACK DAVE NAVARRO
Also Stadium Arcadium was awesome fuck you guys. Honestly it was my favorite since BSSM.
|
| |
I never really listened to it because I can't stand the pop songs for the most part. If there is some funky shit on there, maybe I would try it.
|
| |
At this point solo Frusciante is better than RHCP, but it still kinda sucks - at least there's a chance any new RHCP album won't be boring/predictable now though.
|
| |
dislike RHCP anyway
|
| |
people need to get off Flea's nuts as there are far better bassists.
you're an idiot, simply because there are better bassists on the planet doesn't discredit his position as a dominant bassist
|
| |
this better mean he's doing 6 albums per year.
|
| |
Heroin is a huge part of the rhcp campaign apparently... Hillel, Frusciante, Navarro... All fell apart because of it. I think One Hot
Minute was the end-all of this band. Does anybody even own mother's milk? freaky styley? Or any of the four albums released in
the 80's? I think Californication was "ok..." but Warped-Transcending are all mint. Deep kick... probably one of their greatest songs.
Top 5 album for sure, imo. Stadium Arcadium = poopcup
|
| |
Boring band loses boring guitarist.
|
| |
Stadium Arcadium was awesome, don't understand the hate. It may have been poppier and overlong, but it was still a great album. Frusciante got to unleash some wicked solos on some songs, too. I actually prefer the more melodic recent stuff from RHCP to the old stuff anyway.
|
| |
SA was alright at most, but not the abomination some make it out to be.
|
| |
Aw c'mon, RHCP is one of my favorite alternative bands. Ughh, dunno if it'll be the same without him.
|
| |
sucks but they're past their prime anyways so eh
|
| |
"I still can't get over how much the drummer looks like Will Ferrel. Seriously."
You mean how much Will looks like Chad.
Also, this smells a bit fishy.
|
| |
Well, shit. This really sucks.
|
| |
Finaly the bands slow, painful death is brought to an end. Now just the classic stuf to enjoy.
|
| |
Basically everything Frusciante has done solo-wise and with other bands has been exponentially better than anything RHCP has ever done, including BSSM.
that said SA is still good
|
| |
sure
|
| |
More solo stuff = better than new RHCP
yes indeeeeeeed
frusciante was probably like screw you guys i dont wanna make a dani california pt 2
|
| |
Fuck. RHCP won't be the same. Josh Klinghoffer will be ball suck. It's not THAT bad though, as they are admitidly past their prime. still though.
|
| |
Yeah just in case you haven't read Kiedis's biography or bibliography or some shit like that, this isn't really surprising at all. He's never really been one for the huge band thing.
|
| |
oh fuck off with the music industry not working for him shit, don't buy it. Not sure I buy this news either, gonna be the end of this band I think. Let's hope he's rekindling his love affair with sweet lady H.
|
| |
although I didn't really like stadium arcadium at all, John Frusciante is the essence of the creativity in that band(that and flea).
At least his solo efforts will be amazing.
|
| |
Can't he do solo projects *and* RHCP?
|
| |
Band is completely irrelevant anyways.
|
| |
Pretty much what Wizard said. But they have had a very interesting run.
Edit: The guy in their picture in the upper right hand corner looks like Will Ferrell.
|
| |
They ended their interesting run before Californication. I still can't believe the garbage they produced compared to their awesome albums such as Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magic, One Hot Minute and Mothers Milk.
|
| |
frusciante's solo stuff rules harder anyway
|
| |
Is it that much better? I need to check him out.
|
| |
yea you'd be surprised by the difference in quality
|
| |
frusciante's solo stuff rules considerably more harder anyway
this all the way.
|
| |
Yeah I need to get into his solo stuff too.
By interesting run I was actually referring to the history of the band. All I've really heard is their new stuff which is pretty meh. I need to DL some of their older stuff it'd probably be kinda swell.
|
| |
I mean, I was never the biggest fan of the band, but BSSM is great. It's a shame they're losing him.
|
| |
The old stuff, 85-91 is amazing.
|
| |
Swell indeed if you're in the mood for some good funky rock.
|
| |
Hmm... I'm always in the mood for some sexy music. I'll add it to the neverending list of stuff I need to get.
|
| |
freaky styley is one of the best rhcp albums. Pure hardcore funk.
|
| |
john frusciante's more recent solo stuff is good, but he has put out some really terrible music
|
| |
meh, i dont think its too bad, at least he knew when to move on and try something new instead of making poor albums with chili peppers
|
| |
john frusciante's more recent solo stuff is good, but he has put out some really terrible music
examples
|
| |
yeah dude the Empyrean was great. Idk if anything he releases in the future will be as good as Shadows for me.
|
| |
RHCP was always Anthony and Flea in my opinion, so i still have some hope for this new line up
|
| |
His new stuff should be good. RHCP was kind of losing it anyway.
|
| |
this better mean he's doing 6 albums per year.
The title said he was quitting the Chili Peppers, not turning into Omar Rodriguez Lopez. -_- Anyway, pretty tragic loss for the band. Whether you liked him or not, he was pretty important to RHCP....although, ive never actually listened to any of this guy's solo work so i can't quite comment on that. A lot of you guys seem to really be speaking highly of it, though. Maybe i should check out some of it.
|
| |
"RHCP was always Anthony and Flea in my opinion, so i still have some hope for this new line up"
John/Hillel have always been the leading members in rhcp. Anthony is really nothing without those guys, in fact the last album AK was great on was One Hot Minute. I mean hes an alright musician, but all he did was rap/sing over the band's jams.
|
| |
The title said he was quitting the Chili Peppers, not turning into Omar Rodriguez Lopez.
Frusciante's album per year ratio is probably hilariously higher than Omar's.
|
| |
Just checked wiki; he released 4 solo albums in '04, which is still a lot. Although, Omar does have WAAAYYYY too much time on his hands. XD Keep in mind that, on top of his 6 solo records, he also released a new TMV album and worked on Juliette Lewis's new album.
|
| |
as a huge RHCP fan, this is tragic. I think the band should end now because for the past 10 years or so Frusciante has really been carrying the band on his back. Without him, they won't be very good at all.
PS, how exactly to you pronounce his last name?
|
| |
frooosh..........aunt(long a sound)..........tay or tee
frusciante
|
| |
i always say it like froosh-ee-aunt-ee and consequently sound like a moron
|
| |
^ stfu
no u
you're an idiot, simply because there are better bassists on the planet doesn't discredit his position as a dominant bassist
It kinda does since he's worshipped as a bass god when he's really not ZOMG HE SLAPS I just described every semi-decent funk bassist
|
| |
my god shut up
|
| |
Hush ya mouth hybrid seagal
|
| |
StrizzMatik, your logic is flawless..
Anyways, this actually brings excitement back to RHCP for me. This could benefit both parties. John will be free to do his own thing and the Chili's may get a much needed breath of fresh air.
|
| |
craig owens should get on this...
ahahahah.
|
| |
for fuck sake
|
| |
I'm sorry, I can tell this is mourning period for bros everywhere
|
| |
flea definitely knows what he's doing on bass. not only is he very technically skilled, but he's an incredibly tasteful player, which to me counts for a lot more than the pure shredtastic chops of the victor wootens and billy sheehans of the world
|
| |
Nah, I'm talking more Sting, Jaco Pastorius and Stanley Clarke than shredheads. I saw Flea up on stage with Clarke along with Stewart Copeland and Sheila E. on drums and when it came time to rip some solos, Flea looked like a chump. He's definitely technically skilled but he's overrated
|
| |
nah he's pretty great
|
| |
Nah you need to listen to more music
|
| |
So i think we should all concur that Strizzmatik is a retard
|
| |
I concur
|
| |
Flea's ok I guess but his playing is just so static now...
|
| |
I concur you are all lemmings and need to go back to crying in your corners because the real talent left this washed-up band
|
| |
Hardly anybody on Sputnik likes the RHCP. You're such a douchebag Strizz
|
| |
Hardly anybody on Sputnik likes the RHCP. You're such a douchebag Strizz
Funny I see them as being on 764 favorites lists and have literally thousands of ratings for some of their albums so I guess you're bad at math
|
| |
Tell me why we're in a depression over here in America too would ya please babe?
|
| |
Yeah. I know. I was wondering if he knew. Sub-prime mortgages are ftl.
|
| |
You say liberal like it's some kind of insult but yet over half the country voted for a "liberal" (he's not at all) president. I fail to see how this has anything to do with RHCP but you're entitled to your underinformed knee-jerk opinions. You won't see me defending Obama on anything - guy reneged on almost all of his campaign promises off the bat - but to think a guy like him is liberal is hilarious beyond belief and proves you watch far too much TV. Is is within liberal policies to expand the PATRIOT Act? Continue indefinite detention of suspected terrorists without evidence or charges? Expand both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Give our taxpayer dollars to the CEOs of failing banks and financial institutions? That's all Republican/right-wing stuff dude. The whole populist schtick is an illusion. He's just as right-wing as Clinton's policies were and a little to the left of Reagan. So instead of just reading from Fucked News and fapping to Ann Coulter, read up on what he has actually enacted as president and take a fucking politics class sometime so you can know what the fuck you're talking about.
musicaddiction your handle on the issues astound me! Without you, I never would have made sense of all that crap that's been in the news for the last two years. You should advise Sarah Palin, I hear she has difficulty thinking sometimes
|
| |
Ugh. Remove the stick from your ass and go listen to a Sting solo record or something why don't you
|
| |
Hahaha Ten Summoner's Tales >> Stadium Arcadium
|
| |
I highly doubt it and why is this thread still going
|
| |
Yeah well Stadium Arcadium is terrible, no argument there
|
| |
Beats me, I only came back to yell at someguest because he forgot his common sense medication
Puddles you should listen to the record before judging
|
| |
Listening to records before judging is for pansies
|
| |
Anthony Kiedis was found dead in his swimming pool this morning. A shirtless man with scarred arms was seen swimming away slowly
|
| |
Actually that's pretty believable
|
| |
Because the conservative policies that dominated this country since the 80's had NOTHING to do with the situation we're in, right? LOL
|
| |
That's politics dude. And I doubt the Repubs are going to completely sweep 2010 and reverse the whole thing, people haven't forgotten what the first six years of Bush were like. If anything it might just go back to being 50/50
The healthcare thing fucking pissed me off. Obama plays this whole populist bullshit like he looks out for us but sold the entire healthcare plan to the very same bastards that created the problem. Now we are going to be forced to buy insurance from the industry, adding 30 million to their rolls while the spineless Democrats keep folding in half because the Republicans, a party with literally NO fucking power at the moment, reject any Dem proposal just to be assholes. HELLO! You guys have a 60-40 majority and you can't even pass a kidney stone without permission from guys who should be your bitches! Now because of them, we have no public option (which is the only real way to "compete" with a multibillion dollar healthcare industry), new restrictions on a woman's right to choose (thanks to some mongoloid cousin-fucking Southerners and their Bibles) and there's no cost-control clause in the bill either so the industry gets to fuck us some more, only now it's mandatory and signed into law. So yeah, fuck this country
|
| |
I was gonna comment on the news article but woah where in the world did this conversation go
|
| |
LOL I know
|
| |
someidiot started h8in' on the liberals
|
| |
Sadly, StrizzMatik is right about the healthcare deal. The healthcare bill could have easily been passed without having to have the republicans shit all over it.
Anyway, nice enough to see a thread becoming so irrevelant on a music site, that politics comes into discussion.
|
| |
I appreciate that view. But to me their will always seem to be a sort of higher power in charge, whether it be the government or corporations. I personally feel more comfortable with the government part. And close to 50 million people in america don't have healthcare, and I don't care why or how they can't afford it, healthcare in my opinion is a human right.
But I'm not gonna say my full opinion, because I don't feel like arguing politics on sputnik(enough arguing about music going on for that to enter too much).
|
| |
LOL lawsuits are hardly the reason healthcare costs have skyrocketed. It may contribute slightly but it has nothing on the power of plain greed. They charge outlandish amounts of money because they have the power to do so because there is no competition and because their lobbyists number in the thousands. Single-payer has been proven to work in almost every European nation, Australia and Canada, and France's hybrid system (both gov't option and private insurance) is the highest rated in the world. Guess what the World Health Organization ranked us? #39, sitting comfortably between Costa Rica and Ukraine.
Guess what? Your tax dollars support terrorism. I say that because the USA by definition of terrorism as "using violence or force for political coercion" automatically puts the USA as the leading terrorist state on the planet. We're also the only country to be formally charged by the ICC as committing terrorist acts against another country (Nicaragua, 1986 when Reagan was allowing the CIA to put mines in their harbor while funding the training of government death squads and fostering coup d'etats). Of course, we disregarded the ruling because we did it "for freedom". So with all of that, you're offended by funding someone's right to choose? See how you feel if you knock up your girlfriend how that lack of choice will sit with you...
|
| |
someguest, wtf are you talking about? so the demand on healthcare workers is greater and thats why the cost is so high? healthcare costs are inflated because providers CAN charge those prices. sometimes you're stuck, esp when your job or state dictates who will cover you and you are denied the opportunity to choose for yourself. how did insurance companies, during a RECESSION, bank on a 300% profit?! because they can.
i do agree that malpractice drive the costs up a bit the majority comes from the control insurance companies have over us. tell me how my premiums doubled for 2010 and i have less coverage? its all manipulation and the govt will never control that because they do get a hefty kickback from all of those profits.
|
| |
So leave our fate to corporations that have NO responsibility to a consumer whatsoever? At its bare minimum, the government works for us in the end. The reason it's gotten so bad is because we as a country have become complacent, lazy fucks who expect everything to be done for us, and place trust in lying con-artists that have no desire to do anything for the electorate other than enrich themselves and their friends at our expense. Thirty years ago people would have been rioting on the streets at the crap that Reagan, the Bushes, Clinton, and now Obama are doing. There's one party in America - the Rich, with two right wings, Republican and Democrat. The only way any real change will be affected in this country is to tear the entire f*cking thing down to its rotten core and build it from scratch.
I'd rather pay higher taxes (which will in the grand scheme of things be negligible on your paycheck, maybe another $20-30 a week) for the guarantee that I'm not going to die from a pre-existing condition or being turned down for not having the $300 a month to go broke for my health. If they cut the bloated unneccesary military budget by even 1/2 they could pay for this and then some.
|
| |
what's up with these long ass fucking posts
|
| |
Boys, stop bickering and come inside, dinners ready.
|
| |
We're talking about big boy shit mom
|
| |
you guys are talking about healthcare? how did you guys get to healthcare from mr frusciante?
|
| |
Ask someguest he fucking rules at shifting any topic into an argument on how liberals are destroying america
|
| |
Because they tell you the North won the last one. That's a lie, Southern politicians/policies have dominated almost every Presidency. Don't believe me? Count how many presidents are born from above the Mason-Dixon since the 1900's.
Canada here I come. I hate redneck d-bags but I'm not about to go kill them for being inbred fucktards
|
| |
will ferrel
|
| |
i imagine someguest as that 45-50 year old guy sitting in his porch all day thinking with a scowl on his face, giving dirty looks to kids who walk by
|
| |
Eh, whatever, it's fun to debate. One of my favorite people is this Republican kid in one of my classes. We're from completely opposite ideologies but have a shitload of common ground, which is how it usually goes anyways. It's really the media that creates these divides in the people, because when you're distracted by the cosmetic difference between people it's easier to screw you over
|
| |
Most definitely. Problem is, this country is as a whole politically retarded and dumb at a whole lot of other things too which is why we're laughed at by the entire world
|
| |
