John Frusciante Quits Chili Peppers

2009-12-14 by Dave de Sylvia EMERITUS | 146 Comments
According to a well-placed source, Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist John Frusciante has quit the band for the second time.

The aforementioned "source" told Music Radar that “mentally, John checked out a long time ago. He’s interested in doing his own thing, his own albums – the whole big rock band machinery just doesn’t appeal to him anymore.”

The group have reportedly found his replacement already in Chili Peppers alumnus Josh Klinghoffer. Klinghoffer has toured with the band in the past, and collaborated with Frusciante on the joint-solo album A Sphere In The Heart Of Silence.

Frusciante has had a fraught relationship with the music industry in the past, having originally left the band in 1992 at the height of his near-fatal heroin addiction. He returned in 1998 to record the wildly-successful Californication album.

I am a disciple of the "Froosh", got into "Shadows Collide With People in 2004. RHCP was restriciting his creativity, and causing him to take steps backward in his musical endeavors. For a recovering addict, this is not healthy behavior.

Since "The Empyrean" was one of his strongest records, I not only support future RHCP work, but I am enthralled about more strong solo records from the man who outgrew the success which he is responsible for.

Heroin is a huge part of the rhcp campaign apparently... Hillel, Frusciante, Navarro... All fell apart because of it. I think One Hot
Minute was the end-all of this band. Does anybody even own mother's milk? freaky styley? Or any of the four albums released in
the 80's? I think Californication was "ok..." but Warped-Transcending are all mint. Deep kick... probably one of their greatest songs.

You say liberal like it's some kind of insult but yet over half the country voted for a "liberal" (he's not at all) president. I fail to see how this has anything to do with RHCP but you're entitled to your underinformed knee-jerk opinions. You won't see me defending Obama on anything - guy reneged on almost all of his campaign promises off the bat - but to think a guy like him is liberal is hilarious beyond belief and proves you watch far too much TV. Is is within liberal policies to expand the PATRIOT Act? Continue indefinite detention of suspected terrorists without evidence or charges? Expand both the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan? Give our taxpayer dollars to the CEOs of failing banks and financial institutions? That's all Republican/right-wing stuff dude. The whole populist schtick is an illusion. He's just as right-wing as Clinton's policies were and a little to the left of Reagan. So instead of just reading from Fucked News and fapping to Ann Coulter, read up on what he has actually enacted as president and take a fucking politics class sometime so you can know what the fuck you're talking about.

The healthcare thing fucking pissed me off. Obama plays this whole populist bullshit like he looks out for us but sold the entire healthcare plan to the very same bastards that created the problem. Now we are going to be forced to buy insurance from the industry, adding 30 million to their rolls while the spineless Democrats keep folding in half because the Republicans, a party with literally NO fucking power at the moment, reject any Dem proposal just to be assholes. HELLO! You guys have a 60-40 majority and you can't even pass a kidney stone without permission from guys who should be your bitches! Now because of them, we have no public option (which is the only real way to "compete" with a multibillion dollar healthcare industry), new restrictions on a woman's right to choose (thanks to some mongoloid cousin-fucking Southerners and their Bibles) and there's no cost-control clause in the bill either so the industry gets to fuck us some more, only now it's mandatory and signed into law. I appreciate that view. But to me their will always seem to be a sort of higher power in charge, whether it be the government or corporations. I personally feel more comfortable with the government part. And close to 50 million people in america don't have healthcare, and I don't care why or how they can't afford it, healthcare in my opinion is a human right.

But I'm not gonna say my full opinion, because I don't feel like arguing politics on sputnik(enough arguing about music going on for that to enter too much).

LOL lawsuits are hardly the reason healthcare costs have skyrocketed. It may contribute slightly but it has nothing on the power of plain greed. They charge outlandish amounts of money because they have the power to do so because there is no competition and because their lobbyists number in the thousands. Single-payer has been proven to work in almost every European nation, Australia and Canada, and France's hybrid system (both gov't option and private insurance) is the highest rated in the world. Guess what the World Health Organization ranked us? #39, sitting comfortably between Costa Rica and Ukraine.

Guess what? Your tax dollars support terrorism. I say that because the USA by definition of terrorism as "using violence or force for political coercion" automatically puts the USA as the leading terrorist state on the planet. We're also the only country to be formally charged by the ICC as committing terrorist acts against another country (Nicaragua, 1986 when Reagan was allowing the CIA to put mines in their harbor while funding the training of government death squads and fostering coup d'etats). Of course, we disregarded the ruling because we did it "for freedom". So with all of that, you're offended by funding someone's right to choose? See how you feel if you knock up your girlfriend how that lack of choice will sit with you...

someguest, wtf are you talking about? so the demand on healthcare workers is greater and thats why the cost is so high? healthcare costs are inflated because providers CAN charge those prices. sometimes you're stuck, esp when your job or state dictates who will cover you and you are denied the opportunity to choose for yourself. how did insurance companies, during a RECESSION, bank on a 300% profit?! because they can.

i do agree that malpractice drive the costs up a bit the majority comes from the control insurance companies have over us. tell me how my premiums doubled for 2010 and i have less coverage? its all manipulation and the govt will never control that because they do get a hefty kickback from all of those profits.

So leave our fate to corporations that have NO responsibility to a consumer whatsoever? At its bare minimum, the government works for us in the end. The reason it's gotten so bad is because we as a country have become complacent, lazy fucks who expect everything to be done for us, and place trust in lying con-artists that have no desire to do anything for the electorate other than enrich themselves and their friends at our expense. Thirty years ago people would have been rioting on the streets at the crap that Reagan, the Bushes, Clinton, and now Obama are doing. There's one party in America - the Rich, with two right wings, Republican and Democrat. The only way any real change will be affected in this country is to tear the entire f*cking thing down to its rotten core and build it from scratch.

I'd rather pay higher taxes (which will in the grand scheme of things be negligible on your paycheck, maybe another $20-30 a week) for the guarantee that I'm not going to die from a pre-existing condition or being turned down for not having the $300 a month to go broke for my health. If they cut the bloated unneccesary military budget by even 1/2 they could pay for this and then some.

Because they tell you the North won the last one. That's a lie, Southern politicians/policies have dominated almost every Presidency. Don't believe me? Count how many presidents are born from above the Mason-Dixon since the 1900's.

Canada here I come. I hate redneck d-bags but I'm not about to go kill them for being inbred fucktards

Eh, whatever, it's fun to debate. One of my favorite people is this Republican kid in one of my classes. We're from completely opposite ideologies but have a shitload of common ground, which is how it usually goes anyways. It's really the media that creates these divides in the people, because when you're distracted by the cosmetic difference between people it's easier to screw you over

Most definitely. Problem is, this country is as a whole politically retarded and dumb at a whole lot of other things too which is why we're laughed at by the entire world
