Baroness at number 1 is def. way off...Mastodon and Paradise Lost should be a bit higher, and its missing Anaal Nathrakh and Giant Squid, but besides that this is pretty dead on, especially with Kylesa. Static Tensions is amazing.

I agree that the lack of BTBAM is awful though. I didn't even like Great Misdirect that much but it's definitely good enough to be included here, considering some of the other picks.

Plenty of extremely recent releases. I think they're just really excited about albums that came out over the last 2 months and posted a top 40 list. "OMG, like that new 'Those Who Lie Benetah' is just sooo metal.... #18 for sure!!"

There's a large difference between hating a band and generally thinking their work as inferior to other, greater, works. Baroness are good, they're just not as good as some of the other stuff.
