German drummer extraordinaire Hannes Grossmann (Obscura/Blotted Science) will release his first solo album, entitled The Radial Covenant in December.
Grossmann commented on his first solo effort as follows:
The music on the album sounds a lot like my band Obscura, but that's just how I compose. The reason not to release it as an Obscura album is simple: Obscura is a band, which means that four people work together and create music as a collective. If I write 45 minutes of music on my own, it has to be a solo record. It's probably gonna take another year until a new Obscura album will see the light of day, so here's your chance to make time pass more quickly.
The album features guest participations from Jeff Loomis (ex-Nevermore), Christian Muenzner (Obscura, Spawn of Possession), Linus Klausenitzer (Obscura), Florian Magnus Meier (Noneuclid, Dark Fortress), Per Nilsson (Scar Symmetry), Ron Jarzombek (Spastic Ink, Watchtower), Jimmy Pitts (Sp ...more

The band has issued a statement explaining the reasons that led to its disbanding.
It’s been a long, amazing ride, but with the growing competition and politics of the music industry it would be next to impossible for us to continue being a band financially and actually keep our spirits high in doing so. We love making music and playing it for new people, but there are just some aspects to being in a band that make it hard to actually keep doing it for the right reasons…and we would never want to sell ourselves short just to please what we think people will like. We were so lucky to have teamed up with Equal Vision Records and to have met such an amazing group of people within the music industry. It’s nice to know that there are still some people out there that do this for the right reason, and that is a rare thing to find nowadays. more

Jake Bowen (guitars) states:
"Clear is an experiment to explore all of the different writing styles in the band. It's rare when you have a band where every member is capable of writing and producing music. With each member controlling their own track, this recording enabled us to go down any path we chose in terms of style and sound.
"Every track also contains a melodic theme established in Clear's intro track "Overture" this common thread links all of the songs together, even though they all sound wildly different.
Clear shouldn't be confused with our new 3rd full-length album that we're currently working on.
