16 of my favorite releases from the past few months, plus 4 that I still rneed to check out.
Sacred White Noise
Extremely solid black metal album with some interesting guitar leads. See 'The
Bright White Nothing At the End of the Tunnel.'
A U R O R A
Strikingly reminiscent of how I felt watching Blade Runner for the 1st time.

Casualties of Cool
Devin Townsend does ambient bluegrass/country. Most Sputters probably know
plenty about this by now so no need for further explanation.
|4|| ||Todd Terje|
It's Album Time
|5||How to Dress Well|
What Is This Heart?
Always been a fan of this dude and man does he know how to make pop music
Best thing they've done in a LONG TIME. This album is probably a tad over-hyped
but still worth plenty of the praise its received.
Experimental hip-hop made accessible and fun. Check out my review and definitely
give this a listen.
Once More 'Round the Sun
Let's face it, Mastodon will never be who they were on Leviathan again. That said,
the songwriting has been refined considerably since The Hunter dropped a couple
years ago and the choruses here give this plenty of replay value. Mastodon
continues to deliver consistently great mainstream metal. Also, riffs.
|9||Every Time I Die|
From Parts Unknown
Another exceptionally tight release from ETID. Keith's vocal performance is a major
highlight and the production from Converge's Kurt Ballou puts this in a league of it's
own. This might climb into my top ten of '14 before the year is over.
This EP contains some of what I think are Baths best material so far. Very
impressed and hoping for a new LP very soon.
Standard fare BBNG still makes for a solid jazz experience.
|12||Save Us From the Archon|
Had never heard anything prior to this but gotta say this is pretty awesome.
Some beautifully arranged folk tunes.
Familiars isin't nearly the flop that some people think it is but it is a definitely a step
down from their previous work.
Trumps the hell out of Shelter.
Pretty interesting Godspeed! esque post rock.
The Serpent and the Sphere
Curious to see if this is as bad as people say it is.
Roads to the North
I'm of the somewhat minority opinion that Kentucky was pretty good and being from
the state I could definitely vibe with the influences pouring into that record.
