20 Favorite Genesis Songs

Some people got mad because I included pop Yes in my 20 favorite Yes songs. My first thought was "wait till they see my Genesis list!"
20Genesis
Wind & Wuthering

"Eleventh Earl of Mar" - love that eerie keyboard intro and the rest is just Genesis progging on.
19Genesis
...And Then There Were Three...

"Follow You Follow Me" - The first big Genesis hit ("I Know What I Like" was a minor hit) is actually quite pretty and has some nice keyboard.
18Genesis
Nursery Cryme

"The Return of the Giant Hogweed" - This one has some early guitar tapping and also sounds a whole lot like Van Der Graaf Generator. It's pretty menacing.
17Genesis
Genesis

"That's All" - Genesis goes funky pop and I like it!
16Genesis
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

"Back In N.Y.C." - another sweet 7/8 piano riff that kills
15Genesis
A Trick of the Tail

"Los Endos" - probably their coolest instrumental, though "Riding The Scree" and "In That Quiet Earth" are honorable mentions
14Genesis
Wind & Wuthering

"One for the Vine" - Very beautiful song from their last prog album.
13Genesis
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

"Fly on a Windshield" - "And I'm hovering like a fly, waiting for the windshield on the freeway."
12Genesis
Selling England by the Pound

"The Cinema Show" - What a keyboard solo
11Genesis
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

"In the Cage" - There's not much to this song, but that little off-putting riff sped up is amazing.
10Genesis
Invisible Touch

"Land of Confusion" - Yes I did. Great driving pop tune that had a weird video that kicks butt. Go cry about it, elitists.
9Genesis
A Trick of the Tail

"Dance of the Volcano" - The 7/8 rhythm of this song is just so unrelenting. Shows Genesis could still prog well with Phil at the helm.
8Genesis
Nursery Cryme

"The Musical Box" - Great verses and the instrumentals rock hard.
7Genesis
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

"Carpet Crawlers" - Gabriel: "There's only One Direction."
6Genesis
Foxtrot

"Get "Em Out By Friday" - Love the lyrics on this. Very British and very witty.
5Genesis
The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway

"The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway" - On BROOOOAAAAADWAAAY
4Genesis
Foxtrot

"Watcher of the Skies" - dadadadat-dat-dat-dat-dat-dadat-dadadat-dadadat
3Genesis
Selling England by the Pound

"Dancing with the Moonlit Knight" - I just love the constant flow of this song. One of SEBTP's most memorable moments.
2Genesis
Selling England by the Pound

"Firth of the Fifth" - So majestic. The piano, the guitar...it's all just so powerful.
1Genesis
Foxtrot

"Supper's Ready" - The longest Genesis song is also the best. It's got everything the band was about. It's about Jesus too.
