My Classic Songs

I'm sure lists like these happen all the time, but rI really wanted to do one: rIf you could rate songs on this site, which ones rwould be your 5/5s? These rare 10 songs I came up with on the spot that rcompletely engulf me into rthem, and seem to blow me away every time.
1Pink Floyd

This song is just incredible. The power and emotion behind it are so distinct
that I
can't help but get goosebumps. The verses are hauntingly beautiful and the
ambiance is unparalleled. The lyrics are also some of my favorite, "And through
window in the wall come streaming in on sunlight wings: a million bright
ambassadors of morning" paints such a great image
2The Ocean
Rhyacian [Untimely Meditations]

The way this song slowly builds to reach its climax is executed perfectly. When
that groovey guitar solo hits you know something bigs about to happen, and
suddenly it explodes into dare I say one of the heaviest moments in modern
3Pain of Salvation

Daniel Gildenlow is easily one of my favorite vocalist in progressive metal. The
he presents his lyrics is astonishingly emotive and dramatic. This song
his band in full swing. There are three distinct tones to this song that segue
between each other in a pattern. The heaviest one fits the imagery the lyrics
depict almost perfectly, ending with Gildenlow shrieking "For stealing what
could of
been mine!" so desperately and sincerely, its almost unnerving.
I'm But a Wave To...

To me this song represents the duality of aggression and beauty, intensity and
intelligence, and even reality and philosophy. The song seamlessly blends
soundscapes and ambiance in a tension-release manner. The lines "Infinity within
thy consciousness, an ever expanding sphere" hold to them an introspective look
our individual minds.
Summernight Horizon

The melodies on this song are absolutely wonderful. Duet between the male and
female vocals are heavenly as they soar over a distorted guitar riff that could
belong on a much heavier song. This juxtaposition shines at the moment where the
band sings "And the moonlight.." for a second time and the riff is muted and
restarted for a split second. It oddly reciprocates the singing perfectly.
Space Cadet
7Led Zeppelin
Stairway to Heaven
8System of a Down
