There's a couple of dozen bands that give the genre a bad name, the rest of the bad bands aren't generally that well known or worth knowing to be considered in the mainstream grouping.

DANcore 02.15.13	Passion? If anything, thats what they do have. You'd have to see their documentary, but thats definitely one of the reasons why they are on of my favorites. And the lyrics on atlas, you'd have to be very passionate to speak on environmentalism and include the lyrics "there is no god..." in a metalcore album.

And Misery Signals don't overuse breakdowns. Parkway jam them in every minute or so.

And it's not just the breakdown thing. Though that's a big part as to why Parkway Drive sound so stale. Listen to Labyrinthian. It's a four minute song with one breakdown played at the very end. The breakdown contributes to the flow of the song and finishes it off with finesse. Parkway Drive is too generous with how many random breakdowns they hand out and they usually break the flow of a song and sound awkward. The band also is big on taking recycled melodic death metal riffs and they're just as a whole, consistently the same. Mis Sigs sound different with each album. Parkway sounds the same on all four.

I never got the hate for it, it may not be as fast-paced and impactive as doppleganger or the first album, but it was a definitely good change in style to say the least. Had a more 'rock' feel with proggy tendencies. About to listen to "Sledgehammer", best song of the album.
