| Welcome To Austria
Well, living in this small country almost no one would notice when looking at a globe (right in the middle of europe for all of you who don't know), I noticed a lack of Austrian users (maybe I'm the only one, Idk) and more important Austrian musicians on sputnik. So I thought I could just show you some of them that could be worth your time. Oh, and if you're from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, simply if you know how to put german words into the right order, you might take a look at my website with reviews from me and my best friend: http://www.musicmaniac.at/ | 10 | | We Walk Walls Ceremonies
indie pop - reminds a little bit of Two Door Cinema Club and, thanks to the female voice, of The B-52's too
// Song: Curiosity Doesn't Suit You Well - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NLBOX4d4Qqs | 9 | | The Beth Edges I Guess
indie rock - they obviously didn't reinvent the wheel, but even if you might have heard similar bands over the last decade still a nice sound
// Song: I Guess - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_p78IBU5c0 | 8 | | Ja, Panik DMD KIU LIDT
indie/alt rock - I always had a little problem with the singers voice, but except for that it's nice, especially the lyrics (which might be useless for you since they are in german)
// Song: Alles Hin, Hin, Hin - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=llAtJgWnd1g | 7 | | Falco Falco 3
new wave/rock - maybe the only Austrian guy, who, thanks to his US-No. 1 Rock Me Amadeus, was somewhat famous outside of german speaking countries. Often with great lyrics, but I also liked his wide range of styles in his career and his put-on arrogance.
// Song: Wiener Blut - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMrwcix41sY | 6 | | 3 Feet Smaller December 32nd
pop punk/alt rock - one of the first pop punk bands I knew and I still get back to them from time to time, especially for December 32nd, because, altough not much punk to hear, it has a diversity not many albums in that genre have.
// Song: Reason Unknown - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RH716lhAzkk | 5 | | Julia Sunrise
pop punk/rock - heard one of their songs the first time last year and it instantly got to me. Slightly heavier than 6 and, although nothing new to guys familiar to the genre, damn entertaining.
// Song: Optimistic - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=akzO81gnOpw | 4 | | 5/8erl In Ehr'n Gut Genug Fuer Die City
jazz/soul/pop - not my territory musically, but they have such a great laid-back sound, that you just have to like them. Especially because they sing mostly in Viennese dialect.
// Song: Siasse Tschik - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NbJV6eK_f1w | 3 | | Steaming Satellites The Mustache Mozart Affaire
alt/space Rock - just discovered them, really like their quite special sound. Maybe a bit too much electronic at times, but their vintage sound is simply great. Big plus: I really like the voice.
// Song: The Sea - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5MUKMG3EH0 | 2 | | Jimi D. Fisherman's Son
folk/reggae - their aren't too many guys who know him, even here in Austria, but he became one of my favourite artists. Somehow combines Bob Marley, Jack Johnson and some minor electronic in the background with his high voice and you get this chilled sound with minimalistic, yet good, lyrics.
// Song: Hide My Heart Away - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OnPn9hnyJ5c | 1 | | Soap&Skin Lovetunes For Vacuum
classical/electronica/pop - got hailed as the Austrian Wunderkind and she really deserves it. I listened to her debut a few weeks ago and I immediately knew it was the best record I heard until then (doesn't say too much, but still). Great piano player, great singer and she damn well knows what the word atmosphere means. // Song: Cynthia - http://www.youtube.co/watch?v=L2HEqxcz5Fk Marche Funebre - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_5877LOkq0 | |

03.01.14 | You're from Austria?! Man you HAVE to see Mother's Cake live, they're absolutely insane! Can't believe they're not on this list | KrazyKris
03.01.14 | Never heard of them, gonna check them out, but I definitely won't see them live. | KrazyKris
03.01.14 | Just listened to them, don't know yet if I should think they're great or exhausting | Mad.
03.02.14 | :( they're the best thing ever
Why not see em live? | KrazyKris
03.02.14 | I know it's a crime for everyone into music, but I generally don't see anyone live. Don't like the crowds, the music is often (not always) worse than the studio work and it's pretty expensive for something I don't want to do. | KrazyKris
03.02.14 | Just in between, has anyone actually listened to any of those songs up there? | oresttt
03.02.14 | 3 is sweet. | KrazyKris
