My Favorite Lyricists

The writers who I have been most impressed with. Remember this is my ropinion
10 The Dear Hunter
Act II: The Meaning of, and All Things Regarding Ms. Leading

Casey Crescenzo- The lyrics fit the concept wonderfully. Red Hands and Black
Sandy Beaches have some really great and simple lyrics that work so well.
9Minor Threat
Minor Threat

Ian Mackaye- Some really intense lyrics in both Minor Threat and Fugazi.
8Led Zeppelin
Led Zeppelin III

Robert Plant- Great fantasy driven lyrics, that's all I can really ask for.
7Son House
Delta Blues & Spirituals

Depressing and awesome blues that really leaves an impact.
6Pink Floyd
Wish You Were Here

Roger Waters- All of Pink Floyd's concept albums have some ridiculously awesome
lyrics that really contribute to the albums overall bad assedness. With Roger
Waters as the main song writer, Pink Floyd really shined.
5Dead Kennedys
Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables

Jello Biafra- Awesome punk rock that conveys a radical political message. The
satirical styling of many of the Dead Kennedys songs really impressed me.
4Pavement
Slanted and Enchanted

Stephen Malkmus- Just overall fun.
3Bob Dylan
Blood on the Tracks

Bob Dylan- I'm honestly not a huge Dylan fan but damn he is a lyrical genius.
2Misfits
Walk Among Us

Glenn Danzig- I know I probably shouldn't include them on this list but fuck, I love
Danzig's lyrics. The dark, horror movie-esque lyrics are so entertaining.
1Brand New
The Devil and God are Raging Inside Me

Jesse Lacey- Honestly, this band has produced some of my favorite songs of all
time. The lyrics in Jesus, Sowing Season, I Will Play My Game Beneath the Spin
Light and even earlier songs like Mixtape and Seventy Times 7 blew me away. All
of Jesse's lyrics are so clever that I envy every singly aspect of his writing ability.
