Manic_
10.06.12 | can't agree with 1 at all and there's only 2 records on here before 1993, needs more stuff before then. |
oltnabrick
10.06.12 | 20,12,10,4 need to be higher |
808muzik
10.06.12 | A "greatest of all time" list is never unbiased. 5 is 1 and always 1. |
Trebor17
10.06.12 | This exact list is made every week |
WhiteNoise
10.06.12 | Where the actual fuck are Beastie Boys? Also Fear of A Black Planet... |
ChopSuey
10.06.12 | yeah I thought their would be at least 1 Beastie Boys album here |
Trophycase
10.06.12 | 2 is definitely not 2 |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.07.12 | Manic_ I can see why many wouldn't agree with my number 1 but it has amazed me more then the rest and I can't really pretend it hasn't. I didn't take much notice of the fact that there's only two before 93 that's a good point but these albums simply impressed me the most regardless of time...Oltnabrick the ordering was extremely difficult well atleast you like those albums...808muzik, yea good point but I feel that it's atleast a little more unbiased then most other ones ive seen alot of them have albums that are influential but hardly as great as those after them I feel mines more my own opinion...Trebor17 I would be incredibely suprised if I find several of these albums on other peoples lists...Whitenoise and ChopSuey to be honest I haven't heard an awful lot from The Beastie Boys but they never did much for me from what ive heard, Fear Of A Black Planet was considered...TrophyCase what do you think of Thew Cold Vein overall? it's one that got better to me on repeated listens. |
Dunpeal
10.07.12 | at least this isn't filled with your run of the mill generic hiphop
props for 8 tho. love me some kool keith |
Treeman
10.07.12 | 20 |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.07.12 | Cheer's Dunpeal yea i'm suprised people are still acting like this is a generic list. Some choices are typical but reasonable I mean if I missed some of these i'd then be an idiot so I guess there would be complaints either way. Where is Violent By Design,The Cold Vein,Funcrusher Plus,Dr Octagonecologyst, illadelph Halflife,You Can't Imagine How Much Fun We're Having and Operation DOOMSday in other lists? also everyone allways puts The low End Theroy but not Midnight Maradures which I think is better. |
ShadowRemains
10.07.12 | UGK - Ridin' Dirty
Organized Konfusion - Stress: The Extinction Agenda
Big L - Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous |
MichaelSnoxall
10.07.12 | Jurassic 5 - Power in Numbers |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.07.12 | Ive got LifeStylez Of Da Poor & Dangerous, ShadowRemains and it's great it would be close by in my top 50. Ive heard some of those other two but still gotta hear the full albums...Ive also got Power In numbers, MichaelSnoall and I don't think that highly of it to be honest. |
Dunpeal
10.07.12 | well you know how it goes. most top HH lists have Nas, Jay-Z, Biggie, Pac. Not that they aren't deserving, but as far as lists go, by now it's generic |
FourthReich
10.07.12 | 2 is definitely 2 bitch |
Trophycase
10.07.12 | Haven't really listened to it enough times to judge it really fairly.
But... Nothing really stood out to me and the production seemed a bit same-y after awhile. Lyrics were great and everything, but overall the album was nowhere near enough to say the 2nd best of all time. |
FourthReich
10.07.12 | if anything it's the lyrics that are a bit sub par in areas e.g "animal found toast", imo the production on it is some of the best i have ever heard on any hip-hop album |
MyCarandMyGuitar
10.07.12 | just came in to make sure 13 and 11 were on the list
list approved. |
ChuckyTruant
10.07.12 | Good list. 12 is my personal favorite |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.07.12 | Indeed Dunpeal, I just think people should be thankfull that i'm mixing underground and mainstream instead of just putting all the influential albums from the 80's and 90's... Cheer's FourthReich it's allways good to find someone else that loves The Cold Vein... Trophycase I actually had to hear it a few times before it really blew me away, I would say it's a difficult album overall to really love straight away but that's what you would often find with El-P. I just love the sci-fi sound and the production is some of the best ever, it's so well done. I'm not saying your gonna automatically gonna love it as much as me but I doubt you would regret listening to it again...FourthReich yea but allmost all hip hop albums have moments where the lyrics seem sub-par but even some of the best albums contain average lyrics...MyCarandMyGuitar thank you very much...ChuckTruant, great choice. I love Madvillany too, as you can see. |
Squidplane
10.07.12 | 18 is my personal favorite |
pwalcher
10.07.12 | The Roots one-upped everything they ever made with Undun IMO. But yeah Things Fall Apart is sick. |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.08.12 | Squidplane, The infamous is amazing |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.08.12 | Really pwalcher? I haven't heard that yet but i'll buy it next time i'm in the store. Have you heard illadelph Halflife? |
DABS
10.08.12 | Dimension Ouest Cartel-Reglement De Comptes is astounding |
Trophycase
10.08.12 | Fair enough, I guess I'll have to give it some more time. |
porch
10.08.12 | "I can seriously say that this is one of the most unbiased and knowlegable lists possible"
cracked me up |
pwalcher
10.08.12 | "Really pwalcher? I haven't heard that yet but i'll buy it next time i'm in the store. Have you heard illadelph Halflife?"
Yeah man give it a few listens, it's super short see if you like it. It's a lot less "rock-influenced" than their old stuff, but doesn't really have a bad song. I haven't heard anything before Things Fall Apart, but I'll check it out if it's worth it. |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.08.12 | Yea Pwalcher, alot of people say Things Fall Apart but illadelph Halflife made my brain explode. One of the most lyrical and just most well put together hip hop albums ever, it's alot more raw and hardcore then there later work but still really jazzy and soul like |
snoopdogg6969
10.18.12 | ever heard of KRS-ONE? decent list overall though |
intotheshit

10.18.12 | "if anything it's the lyrics that are a bit sub par in areas e.g "animal found toast", imo the production on it is some of the best i have ever heard on any hip-hop album"
omg lyrics that don't make complete sense right when i hear them! DON'T MAKE ME THINK!!

The bridge is over, the bridge is over, hey, hey
The bridge is over, the bridge is over, biddy, bye, bye
The bridge is over, the bridge is over |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.18.12 | snoopdogg6969 that's a bit of a sily question. Do you really think if I hadn't heard of KRS-One then I would know so much hip hop. There just aren't any BDP or KRS albums that I think are worthy enough for a top 25. Haha agree YetAnotherBirck, The Cold Vein is amazing and alot of the reason is the in-depth and multi layered lyricism, you learn new things the more you hear it. |
FourthReich
10.18.12 | @yetanotherbrick:chill out you fucking pussy holy shit, woah our opinions differentiate you must be right!!! |
FourthReich
10.18.12 | and qwe cmon man why? |
snoopdogg6969
10.19.12 | Well think what you want but i think KRS-ONE is as good if not better than every single rapper on this list. Yeah his albums are inconsistent most of the time compared to these but Return of the boom bap and KRS-ONE are as good as most of the albums you have on here and definitely are better than stuff like Doomsday and Built 4 cuban linx, and Atmosphere. |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.21.12 | Thanks SilentPotatoesfan do you have some reccomendations? |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.21.12 | snoopdogg6969 KRS-One is in no way better then every rapper on this list, maybe a couple of them but still just because you can rap doesn't mean that you truly have great consistent albums. Return Of The Boom bap and KRS-One are great but I still just didn't consider them have you even hear all the albums on this list?
|
FuncrusherPlus1
10.21.12 | Thanks MikeC26 |
FuncrusherPlus1
10.21.12 | qwe3, interesting how those three happen to be the most obsocure ones. They take some time to fully "get" so if you have only heard them once I would urge you not to give up on them so easily. |
qwe3
01.05.13 | i definitely meant to say 9 wasnt that great musta had a typo cuz i fuckn love endtroducing.
and ive listened to those albums multiple times and i enjoy them, just dont think they're GOAT material. esp. dr octagons |
