11.30.12 | Fourth list with a horror theme ive made so far. Ill keep making them occasionally till i run out of
ideas. people usually have good answers to these. |
ButteryBiscuitBass
11.30.12 | American Psycho, as I don't read 'horror' really. The detail of violence in that novel is fucked up. |
Polyethylene
11.30.12 | That one where the teenager said Opeth were good |
Uranium
11.30.12 | this girl took the day after pill and we did it. blood was everywhere. |
dathvada321

Insurrection
11.30.12 | idk ive read some good creepypastas but none of them were too scary |

Polyethylene
11.30.12 | Haha I'm kidding, I'm not a fan but just messin' |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @insurrection have u read squidward's suicide? that one is pretty messed up. plus that picture that goes with it makes it even worse. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | All the creepypasta stories are horribly written and ridiculous. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | have you read psychotic? (i think thats what its called) |
andcas
11.30.12 | the story where people believe in the bible. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | *psychosis i mean |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @snoxall yeah of the ones ive read 99% of them are garbage. a few are kind of scary like the squidward one |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @insurrection nah i havent read that one |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | I haven't but I doubt it's any good because I'm yet to read a story on there that isn't horribly written, structured, planned and overall stupid. Sometimes when it just reads out like a Wiki page about a certain creature/story it's fine, but when it comes to just stories themselves, they're sooooooo bad.
|
Insurrection
11.30.12 | http://creepypasta.wikia.com/wiki/Psychosis
read it
now |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | I don't really see how the Squidward one was scary at all.
"Oh yeah, some guy made an animation of Squidward killing himself with some frames of dead children!"
Hardly horrifying. |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @snoxall just the way it was written makes it unnerving. its not really scary its more unsettling |
andcas
11.30.12 | it'd be cool if slender man was real. |
Uranium
11.30.12 | i dont like that squidward story. |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | candle cove is the best one i think. |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @andcas speaking of slender theres this mod on that starcraft game that is a much better version of slender. people were scared who were just in the room watching the game being played. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | @Ins, just read psychosis. It was pretty well structured and interesting, but I think that ending was bullshit. It would have been more effective without the final paragraph. |
andcas
11.30.12 | is there a youtube video of it? |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | Dunno, maybe. They have Youtube vids for all the really shittily written stories, so they may have one for the only half decent written story I've seen on there.
I hater reading on Creepypasta because of the stupid white text on black background. Fucks with my eyes. |
menawati
11.30.12 | some hp lovecraft thing about serial dreams, cant remember name |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | are you kidding michael? the ending was easily the best part |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @andcas video of which thing?

dathvada321
11.30.12 | seriously though candle cove freaked me the fuck out. u guys should read it |

Recspecs
11.30.12 | Creepypasta is horse shit old news |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | "are you kidding michael? the ending was easily the best part"
It ruined the only thing that made the story scary: the unknown. What made it creepy while you were reading was the fact that it seemed legitimate and the inevitability that you would never know, and the likeliness it wasn't real at all: how easily a mind can be corrupted when overthinking.
The ending fucked with the entire concept. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | that what was made the end so great. how the hell did it fuck up the concept? it executed it perfectly. |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @andcas http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zooWZL3BjpM
couldnt find a really good one. its not all that well known. but honestly playing with the lights off and a few friends is both funny and terrifying at the same time. especially if you play it. watching was pretty scary, but actually playing was so much worse. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | "that what was made the end so great. how the hell did it fuck up the concept? it executed it perfectly."
The concept was the corruption of a human mind. The inclusion of an actual monster/supernatural power made it that less creepy. Reality is scarier than monsters will ever be. And that's why the ending was bullshit.
|
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | I also liked it because it carries a similar theme to a story I'm working on, which is about a schizophrenic who hears/sees monsters and kills his closest friends and family due to his paranoia. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | you... are just bat shit crazy. i dont even know what else to say. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | ...Really? So you think, "LOL THERE ACTUALLY WUZ A MONSTA" is more effective as a man overthinking himself to the point of insanity, when there wasn't anything to be afraid of initially?
REALLY? |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | they never even said what it was. thats what made it so great, just the fact that he was right the whole time and other people are thinking the same things - they were just already brainwashed or whatever.
either way the plot twist blew me away, before that i thought it was a great story but that just pushed it over the edge. idk why you would rather it be some psychology experiment story. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | Because that's scarier than the "plot twist". Nothing is scary about entering the doctor's mind and having him pretend to convince this guy nothing. Not only did it make no sense, but IT MADE NO FUCKING SENSE. The concept was that he had never seen a person with his physical eyes and that if he went outside, something would happen. He eventually did go outside and saw people with his physical eyes and he didn't get brainwashed or anything. No, it was fucking ridiculous. The concept of him having to believe it was real just to get possessed was ridiculous. It was bullshit. End of story.
|
Insurrection
11.30.12 | "He eventually did go outside and saw people with his physical eyes and he didn't get brainwashed or anything."
no he didnt |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | just read psychosis. great story. not scary though. |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | also i agree with insurrection. the end was definitely the best part. the entity actually being real added to the story. plus the part about him blinding himself just adds to the tension. it would have just been an interesting story of paranoia without the last part. nothing scary about that really. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | "no he didnt"
Yes, he did. He opened his door and saw the people, and was taken to a loony bin. a la he went outside and saw people.
"also i agree with insurrection. the end was definitely the best part. the entity actually being real added to the story."
You guys know nothing about psychological horror. |
Buzzkillr
11.30.12 | creepypasta is awful, horribly written drivel appealing to easily impressionable tweens. why the fuck are you guys arguing about that shit lol |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | "creepypasta is awful, horribly written drivel appealing to easily impressionable tweens. why the fuck are you guys arguing about that shit lol"
I was arguing that creepypasta is awful, horribly written drivel appealing to easily impressionable tweens. |
kwill15
11.30.12 | Squid wards suicide is the only scary story on that side, and it would have been half as scary without the dead children.
I do like the concepts of other stories though like suicidemouse and candle cove, although they're not that scary |
Buzzkillr
11.30.12 | Well then I agree with you Michael, but I guess I don't see the point of arguing with easily impressionable tweens to begin with. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | Squidward's Suicide wasn't even slightly scary. |

11.30.12 | YOU WERE THE FROGS:
WARNING SPOILER TITLE. ONE DAY YOU WOKE UP AND THERE WAS LIKE THIS FROG ON YOU. YOU WERE ALL STARTLED AND SAID "WUHH!!!" AS YOU GENTLY PUT THE FROG OUTSIDE IN HORROR. THEN YOU TURNED AROUND AND THERE WAS ANOTHER FROG LIKE SITTING ON A BOX IN YOUR HOUSE. THEN YOU NOTICED THAT THERE WAS A FROG ON THE TV AND ON THE FRIDGE AND ONE IN EACH OF YOUR SHOES AND ONE WAS EVEN (WARNING NSFW) IN THE BATHROOM ON THE TOILET SEAT!!! YOU RAN ALL AROUND HORRIFIED AND SCREAMING AND PUTTING THEM OUTSIDE WHERE THEY BELONG WHEN FINALLY YOU LOOK IN THE MIRROR AND REALIZE THAT THOSE FROGS WERE YOU AND NOW YOU ARE COMPLETELY LOCKED OUT OF YOUR HOUSE!!! |
ButteryBiscuitBass
11.30.12 | ^ Duuuuuuuuuuuude. DEEP. Want it published? |
Uranium
11.30.12 | If you guys want a good memoir about paranoid schizophrenia check out, The Outsider, by Nathaniel
Lachenmeyer. Basically, it's about a Phd sociologist who slowly goes crazy when he begins to think
(schizophrenic induced) that the government planted micro chips into his head in order to steal his
research. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | "Yes, he did. He opened his door and saw the people, and was taken to a loony bin. a la he went outside and saw people."
no he didnt. if you read the story youd know that he saw them through the outside camera and they broke down the door. |
Uranium
11.30.12 | I think it would have been much more scarier had he really gone insane. That would portray that all of
these delusions had come from within. The fact that one mind can invert such realities is sad and scary
because it happens. The person whose reality is altered is alone and opposed to their friends and
family. Their friends and family can do nothing but pity them and watch them deteriorate, while in the
mind of the schizophrenic, everyone is out
to get them. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | the point is that he was insane, but his insanity is what kept him alive for so long. edit: wait are we even talking about the same story |
Chortles
11.30.12 | 50 shades of grey |
Uranium
11.30.12 | ya it would have been better if the whole thing was just a schizophrenic breakdown and not some fantasy plot where people were really out to get him. the former is more real. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | that wouldnt have been scary at all, it wouldve been like a psychology journal inside the mind of a schizo. still unsettling but i think they pulled it off well the way they did. |
manifestum
11.30.12 | Anything by Junji Ito. It's not necessarily "scary", but it can still be pretty unsettling to read. Most of his stories involve really weird/supernatural happenings that are never fully explained and usually in the end everyone ends up getting screwed over despite their efforts, which I like, it's a lot less predictable that way. Not to mention his artwork is fantastic. |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @Uranium but that would have been an extremely generic and predictable story. There's nothing scary about reading the diary of an insane person. |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | "that wouldnt have been scary at all, it wouldve been like a psychology journal inside the mind of a schizo."
exactly my point |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | agreed, the plot twist made the story imo |
Uranium
11.30.12 | "that would have been an extremely generic and predictable story. There's nothing scary about reading
the diary of an insane person."
That's what makes it scary. imagine in a first person perspective how that would be. that could
actually happen. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | uranium if you want to be scared by real life shit then watch the news |
Uranium
11.30.12 | When your mind turns on you, you are your own downfall. |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | @Uranium i disagree. i think that would make an interesting story i guess, but i dont find that to be scary at all. im not afraid of turning into a paranoid schizophrenic, therefore reading about one doesnt frighten me. but some demonic entity driving a man to insanity is far more unsettling, at least imo |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | candle cove is still the best creepy pasta though |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | link? |
dathvada321
11.30.12 | http://www.ichorfalls.com/2009/03/15/candle-cove/ its scary for me because i can partially relate to it |
Uranium
11.30.12 | It's all about preference. During the span of the story he kept saying: things are odd, suspicious
knocks on the
door, everyone has disappeared etc. That sets up the story in the typical, 'somebody is out to get you'
setting. To flip the script and point the finger on you, as unknowingly being the culprit of the
demented insanity and cause for disorder, is far more chilling to me. |
Insurrection
11.30.12 | hm i think i read this before, gonna read through it again tonight i remember it being really good. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | Fuck , you're so stupid. Uranium actually understands how psychological horror works. |
MichaelSnoxall
11.30.12 | And yeah, Ins, they broke down the door, that still means that HE SAW PEOPLE. and WAS TAKEN OUTSIDE. to, you know, GET TAKEN TO THE ASYLUM.
If you think that there actually was a monster is scarier than your mind fucking with you, you're retarded. It's scary because it can happen. There's nothing scary about the horribly impossible. |
Insurrection
12.01.12 | so? he saw amy too but he wasnt sure that she was real or possessed/whatever. actually seeing the people had nothing to do with it, it was whether or not he opened the door iirc.

12.01.12 | THE SCARIEST STORY I HAVE EVER READ IS "THE DAY OF ALL THE BLOOD":
THIS IS THE STORY OF A DAY WHERE THERE WAS ALL THIS BLOOD. A MAN WAS WALKING AROUND AND BLOOD STARTED COMING OUT OF HIM EVERYWHERE. THERE WAS SO MUCH BLOOD THAT IT FILLED UP AN ELEVATOR. HE WENT TO THE STORE AND THERE WAS JUST BLOOD ALL OVER THE PLACE! PEOPLE WERE SLIPPING IN IT AND THEY WERE ALL GROSSED OUT. HE TRIED TO GO SWIMMING AND ALL OF THE SHARKS WENT NUTS AND BITTENED EVERYBODY. HE GOT CHASED BY ALL THE VAMPIRES EVER. ONE TIME THE BLOOD GOT A KID AND A DOG. AT THE END OF THE DAY EVERYONE DECIDED THEY WOULD SEND HIM TO SPACE SO THAT HE WOULD STOP GETTING BLOOD EVERY WHERE. THE SCARIEST PART IS THAT THE MAN WAS YOU!!! (OR HE WAS A LADY IF YOU ARE A LADY) AND YOU FORGOT THAT THIS HAPPENED. |

MichaelSnoxall
12.01.12 | startling =/= scary/horrifying

MichaelSnoxall
12.01.12 | How am I lying? I admit, when I read it for the first time like a year ago, I jumped, but that doesn't mean it's scary. A jump scare isn't legitimately horrifying or scary in any way. Horror, true horror, is the kind of shit that sticks in your head for days, or even weeks on end and legitimately makes you scared. A jump scare is half a second of shock. I can get a jump scare from someone tapping my shoulder or an unexpected loud noise. I can't get true horror as easily, and that's what makes true horror so fun. Because it has that power over a person. Not many people can create true horror these days. |

"Honestly the first time I saw it, I jumped right the fuck out my chair."
I just got a light jolt and smiled, because I didn't see it coming. I'll admit, it was actually a pretty well executed jump scare, unlike a movie like Paranormal Activity where all the jump scares are obvious because there's like two minutes of droning noise getting louder before the "bang!" |
