An Odd Request

I'm looking for music that has an Alternative and Progressive feel to it without straying too rrfar out off the Rock genre's barriers. rAdditionally, I'm not too big on post hardcore either or rtoo strong of metal influences. I'm a sucker for the alternative rock scene back in the 90's. rThe rbest way I could describe my general taste in rock is mellow but aggressive at times on rthe guitar. In other words, I need some quality music in this contemporary age although that rmight be asking a great deal.
1Porcupine Tree
In Absentia

Steven Wilson is just incredible at what he does with PT. Their discography is truly full of some great gems
and I love that progressive rock feel that they bring to the table.
2Thrice
Major/Minor

Thrice went for a more grunge and heavier alternative rock sound towards the end of 2011 that made for an
album with soaring vocals, incredible instrumentation and powerful lyrical content.
3Rishloo
Feathergun

I like how Rishloo took the base abstract of how Tool approached their songs, and formed a unique style that
almost reached stronger climaxes that were seen in some of Tool's finest work. (opinion)
4Karnivool
Sound Awake

Karnivool, what can I really say? For those who are familiar with what they do their two album releases have
been dead on repeat. That atmospheric sound comes in with some great guitar playing and that drummer's a
boss. Enough said.
5The Butterfly Effect
Final Conversation Of Kings

Not too sure if Karnivool drew some influences from these guys, but that vocalist is just amazing and the
alternative sound of their instruments and the way things runs together in this album are truly one of a kind.
