12.08.12 | yes, pumped |
menawati
12.08.12 | not really that interested, if they hadn't stretched it all out into a trilogy I'd go tho |
bach
12.08.12 | It seems fitting that they'd make a trilogy out of it. |
DotEight
12.08.12 | Never got into LOTR and all that stuff. Let me know how the full-length trailer for Man of Steel is though. |
tommygun
12.08.12 | yeah pretty keen for it but ridiculous they're making such a relatively short book into a trilogy
stoked about that bloke from the office playing bilbo |
apert
12.08.12 | metacritic is pretty low, but still pumped to see it |
menawati
12.08.12 | "It seems fitting that they'd make a trilogy out of it."
Anything but, the novel is a relatively short children's story, the trilogy thing is obviously just to make more money. Sure it'll be good though, will probably watch it at some point. |
Nikkolae
12.08.12 | "not really that interested, if they hadn't stretched it all out into a trilogy I'd go tho"
probs means they wont leave anything out. |
bach
12.08.12 | @menawati
Not so fitting in that sense. It just seems fitting that they'd do that so they can rake in more dough.
Apert
Really? I'm reading a 9.1 from IMBD |
menawati
12.08.12 | "Not so fitting in that sense. It just seems fitting that they'd do that so they can rake in more dough. "
yea exactly |

12.08.12 | metacritic is 61, only 7 critics but still i thought it would be way higher |

12.08.12 | heard it sucks |

12.08.12 | A film doesn't have to be cinema gold to enjoy it, guys. |

12.08.12 | Pretty pumped despite disappointing rotten tomato reviews |
bach
12.08.12 | ^agreed |
sixdegrees
12.08.12 | yeah can't wait |
andcas
12.08.12 | if you guys keep hyping it up you're gonna go in with too high of expectations. |
sixdegrees
12.08.12 | nah |
bach
12.08.12 | @andcas
I'm just a little enthusiastic about it, that's all. And believe me... DO I EVER know what you're talking about. I'm still recovering from Mass Effect 3. |

12.08.12 | choking victim- no gods, no managers |
demigod93
12.08.12 | when's it coming out again? I definitely wanna see it. |
bach
12.08.12 | The 14th. |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | I'm seeing it at midnight in 3D IMAX at the Arclight, I wonder if they have 48 FPS projection
Most theaters don't |
menawati
12.08.12 | oh yea good point, a lot of people have said the 48fps makes things look weird, like some sort of 'movie sheen' quality is lost. Need to see meself. |
bach
12.08.12 | I hope my theater has 48Fps. After I see it, i plan on buying a record or two. Maybe Farcry 3. It's going to be a great day, nonetheless. |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | 48fps makes it look like you're there and there's no picture lag, and of course no crackles or anything like that
|
demigod93
12.08.12 | think I'll skip on the 3D, it's such a gimmick that usually doesn't add much to the film itself. |
bach
12.08.12 | 3D is a wonderful feature if it's absolutely, positively required. The new Judge Dredd film used it well. |
demigod93
12.08.12 | I so regret not seeing that in theaters :[ last 3D movie I saw was one of the Harry Potters, it was painfully average |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | How To Train Your Dragon was legit as fuck in 3D |
menawati
12.08.12 | gonna sound like a luddite but i hate 3d cinema wish it would just die |
bach
12.08.12 | I was pretty disappointed that the film was a flop. It had tons and tons of potential. :( |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | Well that's because regular jackoffs are too lame for Dredd |
YankeeDudel
12.08.12 | havent seen anything in 3d yet actually, but im gonna see this in imax 3d in the city on the 17th. im not a big lotr fan but it should be cool. |
bach
12.08.12 | Still haven't seen that yet, Rob. Gotta get my bad self on that. |
demigod93
12.08.12 | agreed, even Avatar in 3D wasn't that great. probably because it just wasn't a good movie though.
Toy Story 3 had cool 3D from what I remember. But that movie was so perfect I could never speak ill of it |
bach
12.08.12 | Everyone is dildos who didn't see judge dredds. |
YankeeDudel
12.08.12 | and yea it has the 48 fps thing |
demigod93
12.08.12 | I regret seeing Looper instead or Dredd so hard |
menawati
12.08.12 | just feels like another gimmick and an excuse to charge more and provide cheap thrills instead of concentrating on the important stuff, can't see any creative possibilities either apart from tacky stuff |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | People are saying it looks like a live sporting broadcast in 48 fps which makes sense cuz sports are real |
menawati
12.08.12 | the 3d i mean, got no problem with 48fps |
YankeeDudel
12.08.12 | "Anything but, the novel is a relatively short children's story, the trilogy thing is obviously just to make more money. Sure it'll be good though, will probably watch it at some point."
Well my lil bro, who's the lotr fan, told me that they're going to show more of what gandalf does in the movies. i never read the hobbit but supposedly gandalf just leaves a bunch of times in the story and goes off fighting battles or something that you dont hear about. so they're going to go deeper into that to stretch it out. but yea of course the money is what its mainly about. |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | Idk about the 48fps (I haven't seen the movie yet) but I'm a big fan of how old style film looks. Like the first time I saw Drive on blu-ray it looked weird as fuck to me, but I got used to it |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | It's 3 movies because they added characters, explore what Gandalf does, and used elements from the appendages from the back of the back
It was originally going to be 2 movies, with the first movie being the book, and the second movie being mostly new stuff, but now they split the first movie into two so now it's 3 |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | This is the first one dude |
menawati
12.08.12 | well i havent seen 48fps movie yet so cant say but maybe it's just being happy with what you are used to and associating that classic movie feel of it not seeming quite 'live' with fond memories |
bach
12.08.12 | @Treb
Yup. just did some light research. Deleted that comment. |
apert
12.08.12 | it includes the white council taking out the necromancer which isn't mentioned in the book but it is in the appendixes, should be enough material. Legolas is also in it at some point and he wasn't in the hobbit so they might be trying to tie it in to LOTR |
Trebor17
12.08.12 | appendix duh, lol I put appendages
|
wabbit
12.08.12 | six more sleeps |

12.08.12 | On another unrelated note, has anyone here ever seen the hibernation episode of Spongebob Squarepants? |

12.08.12 | The one where Spongebob and Patrick tear sandy's fur off and wear it? |
