05.05.15 | hello there sputnik |
emester
05.05.15 | Heard those Phillips were really good.
I still got my M50's and my Grado SR80e's. Love both of the but I slighty prefer my grados. |
Emyay
05.05.15 | I used to have sr80s. They were my first "real" headphone. I liked them a lot but I don't think they were a good fit for me. I used them on the go a lot which doesn't make sense for an open headphone. They also eventually broke on me so that sucked. I'm kind of soured on grados now. |

05.05.15 | jaybird bluebuds.
good for high school peoples like me because they block out people who don't EVER SHUT THE FUCK UP
oh and they're wireless
and sound good |
emester
05.05.15 | Thats my concern as well. They do feel flimsy by a build standard but god damn do they sound great |
Sevengill
05.05.15 | I spent $60 on a pair of BelloDigitals and they're just as good as the $200 Yamahas I used to have. I hope BD knocks Skullcandy the hell out because every pair of Skullcandys I've bought were pretty questionably made and broke within months. |
Emyay
05.05.15 | those jaybird bluebuds look interesting. i've been thinking of getting some bluetooth headphones for the gym |
Aftertheascension
05.05.15 | I tried bellos and they sounded horrible. Really muddy and muffled. |
Keyblade
05.05.15 | hey man, good to see you around
i rock m30x's at home, and a pair of samsung $10 earbuds on the go |

They are really hard to get a proper seal but when you do they sound really good with a lot of bass and I've tried them with basically every genre you could think of. good for all of them.
I got them because every time I got earbuds at walmart or something they would break a week later.
At home I use a logitech g290(I think) for music and it's fine, mainly for gaming. |
Sevengill
05.05.15 | "Really muddy and muffled."
That's...disappointing. Mine sound fine and all the reviews praise them for clarity. But Sennheiser's come up in this thread already so we're talking a whole different league of quality there. |

05.05.15 | May have just been a bad pair or the music I was playing through it itself. I mean, the mid range didn't even exist. |
Emyay
05.05.15 | what up key? funny you show up here, i saw your headphone list and was gonna comment before i realized its pretty old so i figured i should make a new one. i used to have the m30x's. It's crazy how much better the m50s are though imo. I'm no snob though, if your headphones sound good to you and you're enjoying the music, then you're golden. i just really like expensive headphones lol |
Sevengill
05.05.15 | "i just really like expensive headphones lol"
I'd rather have expensive headphones than expensive sunglasses or an expensive watch. It's money well-spent. |
Aftertheascension
05.05.15 | expensive headphones actually serve a purpose. |
Emyay
05.05.15 | they definitely do. i love being able to hear all the little details that are there in the music. i can't remember what it was i was listening to but during a piano part of a song on my x2s i could hear their foot step on the pedal faintly. i had never heard that before in that song. just little things like that i really love |
Aftertheascension
05.05.15 | I always hear a cymbal crash or something I didn't hear before, or I actually can hear the bass guitar. Good stuff. |
Davil667
05.05.15 | I jam my Denon AH-D7100 at home, best headphones I ever owned. Insanely comfortable to wear with a highly distinguished and balanced sound quality. |
Gameofmetal
05.05.15 | Am I the only one around here that's content with the stock iphone headphones |
Sevengill
05.05.15 | when I mixed my latest album I put in some faint strings in the upper register that I thought were lost in the mastering (which I outsourced) until hearing it with my new headphones. was very happy to hear them again. |
JWT155
05.05.15 | I use M50's at work and have a pair of Sennheiser 598's at home but I'm looking to get a new pair. |
RadicalEd
05.05.15 | I currently own the "Teufel Aureol Real", which are open headphones like the "Fidelio X2", but don't quite play in the same price-league. (they are about 100 $ which admittedly isn't cheap) They are from a local manufacturer and I think they are amazing headphones for their price tag.
I definitely will buy some ridiculous headphones when I'm earning some real money. But for now, I'm more than happy with mine.
When I'm on the train or somewhere else outside I usually stick with my Sennheiser CX 400, which have great noice cancellation (for their price tag) and sound solid enough. |
Emyay
05.05.15 | Sennheiser and Denon are two brands that I really want to try in the future. Those AH-D7100 are $1000! Fuckin a, man.
Ed, that's cool you got a local brand. I wish we had something like that here. I'd love to support a local business. |
JWT155
05.05.15 | I've owned a few pair of Sennheisers and all have been top notch. I think the next pair I'm purchasing are the Sennheiser Momentum's. |
RadicalEd
05.05.15 | Emyay, have you ever owned AKGs? I had a pair of them before i bought the Aureol Real, and they were great but I unfortunately broke them through extensive usage.
AKG Pro Audio K812 are my secret dream |
Emyay
05.05.15 | i haven't owned any AKGs either, another brand I would like to try. Beyerdynamic as well |
RadicalEd
05.05.15 | From my experience (I tried some high end headphones in stores) AKGs are generally the most comfortable headphones. |
Davil667
05.05.15 | I can also recommend FOSTEX. My brother got his TH-900 some months ago and they are nothing short of amazing. Not as comfortable to wear as my Denon but the sound is stunning... |
Davil667
05.05.15 | Sorry guys, meant the TH-600. He's not that crazy ;) |
Emyay
05.05.15 | interesting. i've never heard of those. has anyone tried a planar magnetic headphone? i'm intrigued by the hifi man he-400 |
Let
05.05.15 | I have the mad dogs, which are a custom mod of the Fostex t50rp. The mod makes the cans a lot more comfortable, and gives them a more nuetral sound signature (which is something I generally prefer). The stock t50rps are the cheapest planar magnetics on the market, and are still pretty good in their own right. |
Emyay
05.05.15 | for anyone looking into the x2's, they are very very comfortable. they are fairly neutral but i don't think they are the most neutral out there, but i don't mind that. i like that they are a "fun" headphone. i'll probably get something more neutral down the road one day |
hal1ax
05.05.15 | Grado SR325e, here. They're amazing. I did have to buy an amp/DAC to power them though. |
RogueNine
05.05.15 | I was gifted some Marshall Majors. They're a bit snug but have a great sound. Just take the dampening inserts out.
Edit: Nvm, I suppose that's not much of an upgrade. |
