April 2014 Digs

So yeah it's May now and I'm a couple of days late but here's some albums rI been diggin this past month make sure to check dem out
Tourniquets, Hacksaws And Graves

Prob their best since Mental Funeral I mean if the opening riff isn't the most obvious throwback to their 1991 opus ever I don't know what is.

Contrary to their namesake these guys absolutely rule, blending instrumental hip hop and jazz fusion in a big, gooey, warm mixture of whatever. !!Highly Recommended
3Francis Harris
Minutes of Sleep

Really really chilled, minimalist, ambient-ish house, perfect to kick back and relax to. Some good headphones are a must tho
4Impetuous Ritual
Unholy Congregation of Hypocritical Ambivalence

Murky, noisy, chaotic, blackened DM from Australia. Most people are saying this isn't as good as their debut and I was inclined to agree at first but I think they're about even now. !recommented
The Lucid Collective

For fans of megasweeps and hyperblasts, but if you're looking for something with a bit of substance, close the book on this right away
Consumed by Elder Sign

Bare bones OSDM with a touch of doom, nothing revolutionary but still pretty awesome.
7 Pat Metheny Unity Group

Probably my non-m/m/ AOTY so far. Jazz fusion with some progressive rock elements here and there, a vast array of instruments and styles all merging seamlessly together !!highly recommended
Shadows of The Dying Sun

Well it's an Insomnium album so you probably have a pretty good idea of what it sounds like already, sort of a blend of old and new and their best since Weeping World in my opinion !recommended

Noisy, electroacoustic ambient something or other. Suffers a little due to the 3rd track Liminality being that much better than the rest of the album but it's still really really enjoyable
10Trophy Scars
Holy Vacants

lol 5s
11Lord Mantis
Death Mask

The album art seems to be a bigger talking point than the music itself, and honestly if you're offended by this kind of imagery then why are you even on the internet? Fuss about the artwork aside this album is some highly demented shit and I urge every mehtUlhead to at least give it a shot !recommended
12Ben Frost

Really really cool, sort of ambiguous ambient stuff clad with delicate layering and rich textural interplay. Songs start off small and then get big and noisy and it's all very hair raising , do it check it out !!highly recommended
13Decapitated Christ
Arcane Impurity Ceremonies

Just some really solid OSDM from Spain that blasphemes and riffs hard

Really engrossing, if slightly generic atmospheric black metal that I was made away of by Key2daBlaze so cheers for that m80
The Necrotic Manifesto

The usual pissed off, brutal, deathy-grindy stuff from Aborted. Purists will hate it but it is pretty damn fun - it even changes pace about two thirds in to let you catch your breath so it doesn't just turn your brain to mush which is always nice.
