|Death Metal Of The 2010s|
Dispelling the idea that only 90s DM can be good. Range of styles included, rlist is not ranked, all rrrrralbums released within the decade.
Death/Doom from Japan.
Lure of The Occult
Old School DM.
Murky, festering old school death.
Ritual Ascension Beyond Flesh
Probably my fav album of the 2010s so far (sorry Gorguts), the denses, sludgiest
thing Ulcerate have done yet.
Very akin to Heartwork, another solid album for Carcass's gleaming catalog.
No description needed, it's Gorguts.
All Uproarious Darkness
Murky blackened DM.
The Headless Ritual
Different to their old stuff but rules very very hard, riffs galore.
Satanae Tenebris Infinita
Old school DM.
Death metal with atmosphere from the Kings of death metal with atmosphere, the
Good EP from modern blackened DM masters Antediluvian.
In the Midst of Life We Are In Death
Band has been compared to Ulcerate for their unusual riffing and fevent for
atonality, essential stuff.
|16||Deeds of Flesh|
Portals to Canaan
Yeah it's overproduced but Deeds know their shit, great tech death album,
Statues of Sisyphus
The Charnel Expanse
Suffocatingly atmospheric old school tech with substantial Demilich worship, must
Another tech-death band, another annoying production job but some spell-binding
riffs and great atmosphere.
The Sea Grave
Just some solid OSDM.
|21||Spawn of Possession|
Mock all you want, Spawn of Possession have a million times more substance than
your typical tech death act. All to often dismissed as "wank" in light of it's
otherworldly complexity, Incurso is essential for any lover of technical music.
Ruins of Humans
Excellent EP from ye old Brutality.
Vocals can get a little annoying but this is solid melodeath with riffs in abundance.
Being arguably the weakest album in Portal's discog still warrants some pretty hefty
praise. Murks like no other.
Pinnacle of Bedlam
Got some hate for the production (well deserved) but the riffs make up for it.
The Western Front
Solid DM with NWOBHM influence, interesting album.
Passages Into Deformity
More immediate than DF's other stuff but I'd actually argue this being their
weakest, nevertheless, it fucking rules.
Excellent Russian tech-death with good production (for once) and thrash/death
vox, what's not to love?
Old school DM.
Perhaps a taste of what's to come on Convulse's new album, I'm excited to say the
If this qualifies as "slam" then it's has to be the single best thing that's emerged
from the scene. Heavily rooted in traditional brutal death metal however,
Autopsychosis is a must for fans of all things brutal.
|32||Adversarial / Antediluvian|
More solid blackened DM.
Agro as fuck old school DM with strong Incantation vibe.
The Inherited Repression
Just some solid modern tech.
|35||Mors Principium Est|
...And Death Said Live
Crushing old school death.
Hallucinating in Resurrecture
Old School Death.
Old school death.
Monolith of Inhumanity
Worth listening to for the vocal performance alone. Apart from some pretty
annoying, plastic production this album rules.
The Weight of Oceans
Progressive, melodic, doomy, whatever metal.
Crushing death doom from 2 of 4 members of Disembowelment, must listen.
|42||Hour of Penance|
I know I'll get some hate for this but whatever, got riffs.
Just another solid album from Cannibal Corpse.
The Anomalies of Artificial Origin
Leaps and bounds ahead of the majority of brutal DM, excellent album.
When All Life Ends...
Some old-school melodeath (if such a term exists) in the vein of Lunar Strain era In
Crushing doomy death with suffocating atmosphere, what's not to love?
Towards the Megalith
More death/doom with members from Funebrarum and Incantation.
Noctambulous Jaws Within Sempiternal Night
Evil blackened DM
More tech death.
The Sum of All Fossils
Industrial DM (if that's a thing which I don't think it is). Some of the most
atmospheric stuff you'll ever hear, must listen.
Reduced to Sludge
Don't really care for the production or vox on this too much but it riffs so it's in my
Murky DM ala. Portal and Antediluvian.
Oath of The Abyss
Even murkier DM.
Engulfed In Desolation
Old school DM.
The Harvest Wombs
Another tech act that gets unwarranted hate, great spacey atmosphere to couple
Through the Cervix of Hawaah
Pretty sure these guys have already had two appearances on this list so you should
know to expect.
One for Sorrow
One of Insomnium's weaker efforts but still very enjoyable melodeath.
The Great Mass
So this is more just my personal fervent for symphonic metal talking but whatever,
Infernal Warriors of Death
I literally cannot stop listening to this album, has to have some of the best "old
school" production I've ever heard.
The Destroyers of All
Incredibly atmospheric yada yada you should all know how I feel about this band by
Eroding Chaos Unto Ascendant Flesh
Two excellent old school revival acts join together to make this kick as EP. Though
I'm more a fan of Vasaeleth's work, Cruciamentum's portion of this rules
The Afterthought Ecstasy
Hidden tech death gem.
You Fear is Our Inhabitancy
Great little EP with a couple of tracks that ended up on Autopsychosis.
Chapters of Repugnance
One of the heaviest albums in existence, the lower end on this defies words.
Majesty and Decay
Superb album from Immolation.
Crypt Born & Tethered To Ruin
Ultra dense, murky as fuck death metal.
Prophetic Plain Of Abyssal Revelation
Annoying production but sublime riffs and bass performance make this one of
modern tech's finer hours.
All Idols Fall Before the Hammer
More Blackened DM.
Black Death Horizon
Haven't heard (lel) but will obviously rule so yeah.
