01.26.12 Top Ten Metal Albums

Top Ten Metal Albums

Here's a list of my current favourites, obviously I recommend these to any metalheads out rthere. They're worth your while.
1The Ocean

Crushingly primal when it needs to be, even the calmer moments seem to be seething and boiling before an eruption. Great stuff, and my favourite album.
2Rotting Christ
Sanctus Diavolos

Classic Greek melodic black metal, I can't help but love this thing the whole way through. Sanctimonius in particular is a jewel in Rotting Christ's crown of horns.
3 Daemonlord
Hellfire Centuries

A pretty unknown choice, but nevertheless a good one. The drums on this album rumble and flow like a speeding torrent from the very beginning, until they stunningly cede the limelight to the guitars in Monuments of Bereavement. Riding the Mushhushu remains one of my BM favourites.

A very recent addition to my collection, I can't seem to stop spinning this disc. It grips one and does with one what it wishes, from start to finish. Try it out if you kinda like Deathspell Omega, but want better.
5Funeral Mist

It's the blood! It's the blood! Just check out the first two songs. White Stone is a wild beast. With Mortuus on vocals, this destroys Marduk any day of the week.
6Blood Revolt

Insane vocals and militaristic drums make this an experience every time I slap it on. You'll want to sing along amidst the gunshots.

Speaking of sick minds, this beautiful piece of murder metal documents the life and times of serial killer and cannibal, Jeffrey Dahmer. It contains a song entitled McDahmer's. Enough said.

I can't really explain it. Kvelertak makes me want to grab a few beers and learn Norwegian.
9Down I Go

This is kind of cheating, as it's hardcore. But I couldn't go without mentioning it. It's loud and rifftastic, it tells of cruel tyrants throughout history, and GLORY TO STALIN THE GREAT!
10Giant Squid
The Ichthyologist

This only dips its toes into metal, carrying more of a progressive vibe. Nevertheless, it's ocean-based, and I love me some sea metal. Still not convinced? Listen to 'La Brea Tar Pits'.
