09.24.12 | That was definitely one of the strangest films I've watched in a while, Witch. My interpretation: The main character's sister is dying and as a way of escaping reality, he is playing with his toys near the bath. He drops the toy and while attempting to retrieve it, he drowns. While drowning, his thoughts go through this strange stream of conscience, much like a dream, as his brain begins to malfunction and die. While on the verge of death, he imagines a way of saving his sister from death too. His father then rescues him and he seemingly rescues his sister by giving her this cure (presumably her soul) but she seems to be missing her heart. The main character eventually continues to drown and while drowning, envisions himself essentially struggling to survive (getting his arm bitten off, attempts to be eaten, etc.) and while this occurs, he witnesses the cycle of life in that when he dies, his body while be used to fuel other creatures of the earth. The desert dries up from what I assume is him being rescued from the bath tub and time stops because his heart flatlines. When time resumes, the doctor has gotten him to continue breathing, but not become conscious. His brain begins to malfunction again and go haywire while his heart begins to slowly fail. He finds the cure for his sister and appears to wake up and is happy with his family again. As they slowly vanish and the lights go out, he never woke up at all and is actually dead. The end. |

Judith was last seen on the morning of Monday, July 25, 1988, when she rode her bike on her street.[3] On that same night, József shot Judith in the head while she was asleep in her room. Maria, hearing the gunshot, rushed down the hall, where József met her and shot her as well.[7] József spent the next two days wandering around the house,[3] and said during a phone call with Judith's agent on Tuesday night that he intended to move out for good, and just needed time to "say goodbye to [my] little girl."[1] He then poured gasoline on the bodies and set them on fire.[12] He later went into the garage and shot himself in the head with a .32 caliber pistol.[13][11] |

It's a metaphor for the creators wife, who struggled with depression, and eventually commit suicide. The sister is his wife, and he's the brother, desperately trying to bring her back from her depression induced lethargy. It's really moving when you watch it with that in mind. |
