Obscure Japanese Music

List of some underappreciated japanese bands. Samples are included in the descriptions.
1Bo Ningen

http://youtu.be/ylR1LA9fmmI - Crazy psychedelic / prog /stoner rock band, channeling the '70s spirit. Fans of Boris might enjoy this. Black Sabbath fans too.
2Psysalia Psysalis Psyche

http://youtu.be/8f2HTCJIIG8 - Garage rock-influenced post-punk. Some of their stuff has a slightly shoegazey atmosphere to it as well. Fans of The Horrors and similar bands should check this out.
3sleepy.ab

http://youtu.be/FgidIXOiJWA - Band is rather blatantly flaunting their Radiohead worship. Their vocalist's voice actually sounds like japanese Thom Yorke too. If you enjoy Radiohead's The Bends - Kid A era, this is for you.
4PLASTICZOOMS

http://youtu.be/inNuGuCXjxI - another band for The Horrors fans. Occasionally shoegazey post-punk music.
5sgt.

http://youtu.be/rxzzCzx52hA - Brilliant fast-paced post-rock. No slowly building crescendo bullshit here. Dem drums.
6the band apart

http://youtu.be/wRlYR4zFuh8 - Smooth, chill math-rock with engrish vocals. As far as japanese bands singing in english goes, these guys are actually rather good. For fans of bands such as Minus the Bear.
7Strawberry Song Orchestra

http://youtu.be/64YjLwEc7r4 - First visual kei band on this list. Don't skip them just for that, though. They're not as flamboyant as their contemporaries ( except for their bassist ) Band consists of 15 members, most of them being actors. They combine theatrics and traditional japanese music with punk, jazz and hard rock.
8Shinjuku Gewalt

http://youtu.be/cGruK8aGhe0 - Second one on the list. Lo-fi synthpop with an army theme.
9Aureole

http://youtu.be/IuEWzQUlxfk - Another band said to be influenced by Radiohead. Glitchy electronic sound.
10eastern youth

http://youtu.be/GA_FeWufKbk - Japanese post-hardcore band from the '90s.
11ROACH

http://youtu.be/Sx1pYpjer8Q - Metalcore band, combining western metalcore sounds with traditional japanese folk singing.
12WHITE ASH

http://youtu.be/X-uswSQ1POU - Japanese post-hardcore. Fans of 9mm Parabellum Bullet and Ling Toshite Shigure should definitely check this one out.
13Owarikara

http://youtu.be/bwT30DWZIm8 Psychedelic indie rock, influenced by '70s psychedelic rock.
14SuiSeiNoboAz

http://youtu.be/lTp1xLrH0Ig - Fans of Number Girl and Zazen Boys look out! This band basically pays tribute to them. Their 1st album was also produced by the frontman of both bands. Their sound is a combo of the more straightforward '80s alt rock influenced Number Girl sound and Zazen Boys' math rock sound.
15goatbed

http://youtu.be/1jTWUKK7njg - Huge homage to '80s new wave/synth pop. Flamboyant as fuck.
16blgtz

http://youtu.be/SDvcLk1fFI0 - Emo, indie rock. Occasional post-rock influence.
17Death March Kantai

http://youtu.be/c5ArvV5I7Hk - A 'hardcore marching band'. They combine a psychobilly sound with marching band music and the result is quite unique and interesting.
18Vampilia

http://youtu.be/4vMtHrrMv3I - Experimental band. Sleepytime Gorilla Museum and uneXpect fans should enjoy this. One of their bandmembers plays the saw.
19plugnet

http://youtu.be/lDVoFP1WV8w - Japanese hip-hop with chiptune beats. Catchy and unique as fuck.
20MY DRAGON

http://youtu.be/NOo_RDrMQbU - Objectively the best thing Japan has ever spawned, ever.
