| Favorite Surrealist Artists
My favorite Surrealist artists, charters of the unconsciousness mind. Artists range from household names to delightfully obscure. The albums listed are all stuff that reminds me of these artists everytime I listen. | 7 | | Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Of Natrual History
Laurie Lipton- I need to change my underwear, so much gothic and disturbing imagery has just been shoved into my mouth. | 6 | | Pan Thy Monium Dawn Of Dreams
Max Ernst- Among the first artists to document other dreamlike worlds of existence. | 5 | | King Crimson Islands
Rene Margite- Listening to the title track of this whilst staring at this mans artwork and the world make a whole lot more sense for me. Dreamlike, but filled with a strange sort of melancholy. | 4 | | Cynic Traced In Air
Robert Venosa- Did all the art for Cynics two albums, a beatiful and mysterious glimpse into an otherwordly plane. Gorgeous. | 3 | | Tom Waits Rain Dogs
Salvador Dali- Self Explanatory | 2 | | Therapy? Infernal Love
Tetsuya Ishida- A japanese artist whose work combined people with mmachinery. An extremely chilling statement on todays mass manufactured, capitalist society. | 1 | | King Crimson Red
Zdzislaw Beksinski- His art was a looking glass into a nightmarish otherworld, so dark and terrifying, but so mystical and beautiful. I consider him not just my favorite surrealist artist but one of the most underrated and finest painters of the 20th century. When I heard of his murder in 2005 I broke down and cried. RIP you legend amongst men. | |

02.12.12 | Glad to see Magritte on here, he may very well be my favorite artist ever. Dali and Zdzislaw both are incredibly inspiring in their own ways, and it's cool to see such different artists creating images with similar ideas. Great list | DeadBeat
02.12.12 | Beksinski is incredible, one of the best artists of all time | Sanders
02.12.12 | Dali'll always be the king | AngelofDeath

02.12.12 | Also, you should've used Leech's Ten Black Hymns or Blood of Kingu's last album for 1, since they use his artwork. | Dreamflight

I always jam Providence from King Crimson's Red album whilst staring at Zdzislaw Beksinki art when I'm in the mood to soil myself ;D
Honorable Mentions-
Vladmir Kush (Havent seen enough by him yet, though what I have seen I have been deeply impressed with.)
HR Giger (To samey for me, but some of his work is immortal)
Chet Zar (Of Tool's Music Videos Fame. Serving you a combined meth and LSD trip since {Insert Appropriate Date] )
Clive Barker (My least favorite, I do like his art, but there's just something about it that doesnt do it for me. His writing more than makes up for it however ;D) | xenocide.
02.13.12 | Glad to see Z. B. occupying top spot. Have you heard the song "Zdzislaw" by Rishloo? It's inspired by one of his works. | AllGabrielsAreGlass
02.13.12 | Nah I haven't, very dark and gothic I take it? ;) |
