09.29.12 | "listen to the ocean's precambrian and accept it as the genre's bible"
lol stop being stupid. Not only is not even a completely post-metal album, but it's very fucking far from "the genre's bible"

09.30.12 | "well I completely let teaching of the genre in the site fail"
I'm sorry I have failed you, master. |

09.30.12 | I don't see your logic where you dismiss the ocean and label zozobra, red sparowes, that pelican album, altar of plagues, and jesu under the label |
MichaelSnoxall
09.30.12 | I didn't dismiss the Ocean, I dismissed the Ocean as "the genre's bible"
All I said otherwise that it wasn't completely post-metal so it shouldn't be considered "the genre's bible"
|
Relinquished
09.30.12 | my point still stands |
MichaelSnoxall
09.30.12 | I agree that you could argue Zozobra shouldn't be listed, as well as jesu, but the others are all post-metal. Unless you just think of Altar of Plagues as black metal. And the others as post-rock. But I still stand by my bands, I consider them all pretty post-metal . |
Relinquished
09.30.12 | you, and a lot of people, need to look beyond labels because that seems to infect the organization. there's really nothing metal about Red Sparowes but people don't want to label things without it being just one word because the category hasn't been agreed upon. in AoP's case, if let's say 65% of the album is black metal and the rest is "post-metal" aesthetics, then I don't see as to why not label it as what it is the most since it'll appeal to black metal fans more. and I'll fight to the death on that Pelican album. |

09.30.12 | I thought all those bands were post-metal before coming to sputnik. Anyways, I can agree with you, Relinquished. Also, would you be able to rec some more post-metal? My collection is lacking.
|
MichaelSnoxall
09.30.12 | And actually, I would think you'd call me out on Fall of Efrafa as well, seeing as they're like 50% hardcore, 30% post-rock and like 20% metal. |
Inveigh
09.30.12 | it's not really post-metal but I feel like Ufomammut needs to be mentioned |

09.30.12 | "I thought all those bands were post-metal before coming to sputnik."

09.30.12 | You totally commented on my favorite animated film list from last week! It's my number one. Both the band and film/book have huge sentimental value to me. If I had a ton of money and I was a directer, I'd remake that film and make it epic as hell. |
MichaelSnoxall
09.30.12 | Yeah, the film disappointed me. It went way too fast. |

09.30.12 | Hopefully it'll be done justice one day. The vocalist of FoE is actually working on a side story picture book to Watership Down that I am eagerly anticipating. |
