5 Passable Mainstream Pop Acts

These aren't all necessarily good, but they're certainly better than the other crap you hear on the radio. Allow the hate to commence.
5Lady Gaga

The fact that she actually has an art direction going on makes her stand out. Doesn't mean her art direction is all that good, but she's still got more creativity in her music videos than any other pop act. Judas is a great song too, and I really like her as a person.
4Lupe Fiasco

I really like Lupe. He combines aspects of modern hip hop and classic (without sounding super cheesy) and tends to get pretty political. He's not quite as popular as the others on this list, but he's still gotten plenty of mainstream recognition. Throw in some political lyrics, and you got a hit.
3Bruno Mars

He's got his share of terrible songs, but songs like "Runaway Baby" and "Locked Out of Heaven" are pretty great and show off some aspects of older pop rock/classic rock. "The Lazy Song" is also a fun little song that gave me a bit of a chuckle the first time I heard it. On top of it all, he's got an amazing voice.
2Psy

Yeah yeah yeah, "Gangnam Style" has over stayed it's welcome, but have any of you taken time to listen to his other music? I've always liked KPop more than American pop, and PSY 5 is a solid album that's tons of fun to listen to and has plenty of diversity.
1Eminem

I've always liked Eminem. He sometimes puts a bad taste in my mouth, but dammit, he's really popular and raps about shit that matter a bit more than "muney dope and dem hoes". His lyrics are either meaningful or funny and I'm kinda surprised he's been so popular since he's a bit...different.
