02.12.13 | getting swole is the only time where borderline shitty and non-m/ juns become okay, hence things like 2, 4, and 25 |

02.12.13 | why does workout music have to be so horrible? |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | Think about it... Would you *really* want to listen to F#A#(infinity) while you're lifting? It's not about substance: it's about timing your reps to the china hits. |
Apollo
02.12.13 | I would listen to probably about 50% of this stuff while working out.
|
ITsHxCTOASTER
02.12.13 | So you workout to breakdowns
When will you motherfuckers start jamming Bolt Thrower and Slayer in the gym |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | See 47, 48, and 49. |
Apollo
02.12.13 | Eric is into running right? What do you run to Eric? Animal Collective and Arcade Fire? |
ITsHxCTOASTER
02.12.13 | Yeah I saw, I'm just messing with you for the most part. I really don't like to lift to chuggy stuff though, I need something groovy and/or just stupidly pissed off. Some super angry punk like Hoax is sweet too or powerviolence |
Apollo
02.12.13 | I could do a whole workout listening to Disfear. They are probably the perfect lifting band. |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | Agreed with both of the above posts. |

02.12.13 | Lift to the rhythm of The Smiths |

02.12.13 | itz legz day, hit it hard bro
pyramid set it hard |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | it was legs/back day today
i fucked my back doing shrugs and it sucked. fuck, i like arms/chest days so much better. |
CaptainDooRight
02.12.13 | same bro, i hate legz day but its so ness tho
i jus came off the leg and back combo and added an extra day to seperate the back to keep the body guessing
bro but i love shrugs tho
do you hit the shugs with dumbell or straight bar? |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | dumbells. the bar feels awkward as fuck. |
EaglesBecomeVultures
02.12.13 | loma's usually my go-to |
CaptainDooRight
02.12.13 | yeah bro i used to do dumbells but i use the bar now cuz i can stack the weight way more
you have to slightly bend your knees so the weight is not hanging too far in front of you, thats the proper form
dumbells are good too tho |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | for sure, i'll try that. i have found that the weight of the dumbells is limited by my grip strength, which is not where it should be. |
CaptainDooRight
02.12.13 | yeah bro i could only lift like 100 per arm with dumbells cuz i the heavy weights at the gym are usually on the bottom and are hard to move
but with the straight bar i can just grab it off the rack or even use the smith machine but i do weight in my garage now, found a sweet olymbic bench off craigs list for 100 billz |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | sounds legit. how do you do your reps exactly? e.g., i do 4x8 of a single weight |
CaptainDooRight
02.12.13 | im constantly switching it up bro but 4x8 is perfect for building tho but after like 2 weeks if you're hitting that muscle group like once per week you could do like 5x12 and work more on technique when you drop the weight slightly lighter
the possibilities are endless but yeah for building and pumping the muscle hard i stay within the 6-8 rep range
but for instance i did biceps and back last week and did pyramids sets where i started like and did 10 reps for each set and kept raising the weight every set until i couldn't raise it anymore. then i cut the rest down to 30 seconds between every set and kept lifting 10 per set until i gradually could only do 4 per set and dam my arms were dead
so you gotta keep challenging the muscle so they keep that intensity up |
CaptainDooRight
02.12.13 | where i started *light[not like] |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | i've generally been switching off daily between legs/back and arms/shoulders/chest, so each group gets worked three times a week. and yeah, i always stick to the 4x8 thing, but i often vary the weights between sets if i'm not getting wiped enough at the end while just sticking to a single weight. |
CaptainDooRight
02.12.13 | thats good bro, are you just starting to lift?
if so, that's the perfect way to start, then when you become more advanced you could do something like
mon: legs/tues:chest,triceps, shoulders/wed: rest/thurs:biceps,back/friday: abs/sat rest/ then repeat
that would be a good next step because remember for building less is better because your muscles only get bigger and grow when you're resting, so if or when you advance to the above level i mentioned you should be hitting much heavier weight to where your body needs that rest
i follow the above one right now myself but i only eat a max of 2110 calories per day cuz im stripping fat hard right now while hitting tuff weights and i do cardio hill walks with my lady and son like once or twice a week, but if i was trying to bulk and get waaay bigger which my body type can easily then i would eat like 2600-2800 per day |
Ignimbrite
02.12.13 | i've been consistently lifting for about a month by now so yeah, i'm new-ish. i think i'll probably stick with the rhythm i have now for a month or two longer but i'm definitely interested in eventually going for an approach like the one you described. do you actually see results with doing each group only once per week? |
CaptainDooRight
02.12.13 | oh yeah bro majorly cuz say for instance when i hit chest/shoulders/triceps, i do like 4 different excersizes for chest alone and with 4 sets for each work out that like 16 sets on just chest alone, ie. flat chest press, incline press, chest flys, push-ups, supersets varying intensity ect.
but after about 6 months of the schedule i mentioned try to go back to how you are now and see how your body responds, basically when it comes to weights, change is really good for your muscle, don't let it get used to your demands on it
but remember you have to absolutely hit your chest to the max if you're doing it once a week, sometimes i will, however do chest no more than twice a week on certain occasions, closer to like once every 5-6 days |

02.12.13 | do u even lift? |
Relinquished
02.12.13 | most swole guy on this site and no mention even with that omega massif song carrying my name |
MegaJake1024
02.12.13 | I believe mine is better, but this is still a pretty good list. Kicks the shit out of Tomorrowistuesday's list. Even though 15, 5, and 10 are good songs, not sure they're workout appropriate though. |
