Curse of Time
Hard rocking, epic, big in scope, fuckin awesome, brain-shattering, mind-bendingly jamming rock. Saris' Behind the Times is one of the greatest and most overlooked diamonds in prog rock. It blends in all the good elements of rock - guitars, pathos, bass, drums - and brilliantly mixes in orchestral instruments and pieces of hard, electronic beats. Blomljud
Just a shade under 2 hours long, Blomljud is one of my personal favorites: Petter Sandstr?m is a brilliance on his guitar and 12-string, the choir arrangements are excellent, the Yes-style keyboards are a nice touch, and the piano work here is really good. A Gentleman's Hurricane
One of the heaviest albums on this list alone: Johan Nieeman is a madman on his guitar. It's easy to mistake it as power metal, but the various time signature changes here and there are really insane: a work of genius underneath it all. | | 6 |  | Yes

The debut of this legendary prog rock band is probably the one that is rarely glanced at twice: while not to the high caliber of albums such as Fragile or The Yes Album, their debut is a perfect mix of pop songs, 60's prog rock, and to top it all off with SURVIVAL, the best track ever. | | 7 |  | Discipline
Unfolded like Staircase
Over an hour of length and containing only four songs, Discipline is a masterpiece that follows a unique style of progressive rock. It contains its own electronics and long guitars and various instruments and mellotron that everyone uses, but incorporates acoustics and has a lot more vocal work than one might expect, considering that all of the tracks are over 10 or 15 minutes in length (the longest is 22 minutes alone). It's a fun album, a very brooding album, all in a cacophony of awesomeness. Buy it. | | 8 |  | guilt machine
On this perfect day
A solo project of Arjen Anthony Lucassen, who is known for other projects like Ambeon or Ayreon. Both are legendary, but Lucassen shines here. He incorporates themes of techno, industrial, heavy metal, progressive, all mixing into an utterly astounding LP. It's melancholic, heavy, and desperate, with just a tinge of sadness. Unlike most of the aforementioned, a few excluded, Cairo is very upbeat music. It borrows several elements from Emerson Lake and Palmer (yes even Love Beach) in a few tracks, but the whole thing in itself is a very fun release, and quite lengthy. 50 minutes long, 1 song. 50 minutes of your time and your whole life will change. Okay, maybe not - but mei is breathtaking. The guitars are heavy, the drums are persistent, the cellos and flute and violin all sound rich and like an amazing mix between Atnus, King Crimson,and Godspeed you black emperor, if the third one actually did prog rock. Somewhere but yesterday
This is so Genesis. As in the Gabriel Genesis, the badass kind. The tracks take time to build, such as the vocals on the title track are played for 5 minutes over repetitive guitar-and-drums, but when it jams it does it good. Their debut is definitely overlooked in their extensive catalog. Sure, Love Beach kind of sucked, and they never really recovered after that before calling it quits, but damn could they make some catchy tunes before all that. In the Land of Grey and Pink
What a solid gold oldie. I nearly killed myself trying to cop this when I found it at Bookman's, listened to the shorter tracks so much I was sick of it, and two years later (since I found it) Nine Feet Underground remains my most favorite track in their whole library. Wheel of Life
It's hard to say where this stands. It's better than Who's The Boss In the Factory?, but it's worse than In a Perfect World (which, in my eyes, will never be done again). But Wheel of Life holds a special spot in my heart - this, along with Perfect World, need to be famous and they're not. Each one blends in so many instruments so well, and Reingold is a beast on his bass guitar. Think Geddy Lee and Geezer Butler's baby. | | 18 |  | Transatlantic
Whirld Tour 2010 Live in London
One of the best live albums ever. The epitome of how to do a live show and do it right - think Live at Leeds in its progressive form. This is an absolute necessity for any progressive rock fan. Get it and be blown away like god sucking you off. | | 19 |  | Diagonal

Diagonal. We had some good times, you and I. Too bad you died, RIP. But this album will live on forever. Everything about it is perfect, and it quite literally has everything - ebow, alto saxophone, guitar, synths, filters, drums, pianos, clarinets, flutes, acoustic guitars, bass, percussion.
