I like the show because I love cartoons, and there haven't been enough good ones on TV in the past few years that aren't aimed at adults that are any good. This one, developed by a woman who has been involved with some of my favorite past cartoon series, happens to be good.
Now, whether it's in spite of or because of its target age group is something I have yet to figure out. Do I like it because there are references to things like Benny Hill and The Big Lebowski in it, or do I like because they had the audacity to put references to things like Benny Hill and The Big Lebowski in a show for 8-year-old girls? Dunno...all I know is that it's an astounding feat for a show for 8-year-old girls to keep me legitimately interested through two full seasons, internet phenomenon aside. I mean, fuck, I don't watch W.I.N.X. or W.I.T.C.H. or whatever that show is called. Why the hell should I be watching candy colored ponies? |
