02.08.12 | Yea, there are plenty of others, but these were the ones on my mind.
And I think The Doors are highly overrated. The End is a great song, but other than that they don't have that much material that I really love. I think their value lies more in how much of an influence they had on music, not on the music they actually made. |

02.08.12 | Nevermind is utter shit, in my opinion, but In Utero is a masterpiece, and Nirvana's third album could potentially have been just as good, if not better. Also, if Kurt Cobain was still living today, we wouldn't be hearing all this garbage about how Nirvana was the greatest band of all time.
And I'm serious when I say this: what does "too young" mean? Because I would love for Johnny Cash to still be alive. |
Yuma310
02.08.12 | Kurt Cobain just didn't live long enough to write a shitty album. Guaranteed once that would have happened hipsters would have hated him. |
EyeForAnEye
02.08.12 | "And I'm serious when I say this: what does "too young" mean? Because I would love for Johnny Cash to still be alive. "
Yeah. To be honest, I hate when musicians are put on a pedestal because they 'died young'
Everyone acts like music would be different if certain artists were alive. People go, "What would Rap be like if Tupac/Biggie were around?" well, they'd be doing numerous unwatchable reality tv shows and releasing sub-par albums like Snoop Dogg. |
julien
02.08.12 | For me too young is applied to musicians who only released a limit amount of material, or who were cut short at the height of their success. |
julien
02.08.12 | @EyeForAnEye I agree that musicians shouldn't be put on a pedestal simply because they died young. That doesn't mean that there aren't great musicians who coincidentally happened to die young.
And as far as Kurt Cobain, his influence on the way music evolved through the 90s and 2000's is part of why he's so revered, at least in my opinion. |
