02.24.12 | idk i was thinking about it yesterday (if you haven't read the Blackest Night comic series, it comes from that) and they (for story reasons) have to avoid hoping because it would automatically lead to fear (and that's bad for story reasons.)
i just don't get why that's automatic. i know since hope is (essentially) a probability issue, it has a few possible ways it can go: success, failure, and neither (trying to define neither is strange too). and it's that possibility of failure that automatically draws fear into the equation, but can't you NOT fear failure?
