ZilbelPing 08.17.11	I have a tama set. Not sure of the exact series. All I know is that it's old as hell. I have 4 A custom cymbals. A 19' crash, a 14' fast crash, a 17' crash and a 9' splash. I have a really fucked up 16' classic oriental china, and my ride and hi-hats are old series of zildjain cymbals called scimitar or something like that. My snare head is a evans genera dry and my hi tom and floor tom heads are evans ec2's. I'm pretty sure my hardware is Tama too. My double bass petals are Iron Cobras. I use mostly 5A Vic Firth sticks for alt/indie. They work nice for metal too. I'm gonna start playing jazz again for my school so I'm gonna go on a stick hunt again. The only problem I have with Vic Firth is that they break easily and the tips chip really easily. Thinking of switching but I don't know.
Tatou 08.17.11	the guitar center i live near always has em on sale for $400 and i traded my other one in, so i got my 9000 for $300, fucking steal for something that good. You should try oak sticks, most vic firth are hickory which I found break very easily. Oak is more versatile too.
MO 08.17.11	Gretsch kit at home with a 26'' bass drum jam with the band on a Pearl. Not at home but I have 3 Zildjian crashes and one 4A custom, a splash, ride and china Gibraltar hi-hats. use no name sticks because I'm not gonna spend money on fancy sticks that'll just break in a couple plays so I buy in bulk, basically the bigger the better, 3Bs or so. Iron Cobra double kick.

ZilbelPing 08.17.11	I've heard good things about oak sticks. Will look into them. I'm in marching band at my school and this year, we're doing a queen show with four drumsets. We're playing bohemian rhapsody and when we got to that super fun part in the second half, I broke my stick clean in half.
Tatou 08.17.11	HHX is probably my favorite non-zildjian cymbal line. Thats actually awesome your school does that, mine sucks. Check out pro-mark oak, they have 5a. You wont go back to hickory. Iron cobras are awesome as well, their speed/smooth playing rivals dw, unfortunately i dont feel i get as much force with them

foreverendeared 08.17.11	I just can't do those skinny 1A sticks. They'll break on me in a matter of minutes. Also plastic tip will usually come off mid-song so only all wood for me.

When did I or anyone in this thread say anything about brand name sticks being better than others. I said I've never used oak sticks and will keep an eye for them in the future. My local guitar center doesnt really carry a wide selection of sticks. The ones I have seen are all hickory and guitar center is the only place to get good equipment for a good price in my area.

Tatou 08.18.11	I've sunk all my funds into cymbals and cant afford mics or a camera, so no i dont have any drum covers. I feel foreverendeared made a lot of people's day with that.
UnnamedOcean 08.18.11	I is drummer. Drums: I really like Yamaha, but I'm playing on a Ludwig kit right now because I'm poor. Cymbals: Using various Sabian Xs20 and Dream cymbals, as well as a Wuhan china. I like Zildjian but they are too fucking expensive. Heads: Currently favoring Evans G2 I guess even though I don't even have those on my kit at the moment. Sticks: Nothing can beat Pro-mark 5AN Japanese Oak. Oh, and I have some rods as well.

I dont rate Pearl kits to highly, all the ones I've played sound so muddy and just eeeeggh I have a Sonor 2005 Force series drumkit with ufip tiger series cymbals. I still have all my Sonor hardware which is fine by me. Remo heads, Vic Firth 5A sticks, Gibralter pedals (needs to be upgraded asap). My cymbals are crunchy as fuck so I reckon I will stick with Ufip from now on, I did use Paiste but really only the ride was good.
