Albums That Changed Your Life?

List is self-explanatory. The change could be musically, life-altering, or otherwise. Maybe it helped you through a difficult time, or maybe it made you want to be a better person. Now, I know this is sputnik, but let's keep the ravaging of others' choices to a minimum since they might not necessarily reflect current listening habits.
7The Dear Hunter
The Color Spectrum (Complete Collection)

This behemoth of a collection defined this most recent summer. A time where my constant grapple with pestering depression ended, and for the first time since probably middle school, I was happy with the way things were. It was also the reason I started coming here, to this website. I found it before I ever came here, but the praise that this received solidified my urge to become a regular, and that I have.
6Godspeed You! Black Emperor
Lift Your Skinny Fists Like Antennas...

The most recent album to make it to the list (not release wise obviously.) This one hit me hard. It was on a whim that I decided to listen to "Storm" and I remember sitting there in wonder as it played through, and it wasn't long before I had the whole album in my grasp, and listening to the entire thing for the first time was just as exhilarating as my first exposure to "Storm." The crescendos, the lows, and everything in between are perfect. But above all, it opened my ears to Post-Rock, and finally gave me the open-minded mentality to try anything.
5August Burns Red
Constellations

Whenever somebody pissed me off, or even when I just plain felt down, this is something that would always soothe me. The energy, the vibe, the intensity and the easily to relate to lyrics were a savior. However, it wasn't just this album. Messengers and even some of Thrill Seeker did wonders for me.
4Senses Fail
Life Is Not a Waiting Room

While certainly not their best album, its angsty lyricism and punk-y feel basically expressed emotions that I couldn't express to anybody else. Another one of those albums that will bring back nostalgia years from now, and one that helped keep me sane.
3Death Cab for Cutie
Transatlanticism

My first foray into indie music, and definitely an album that helped define me. This album will always bring me heavy doses of nostalgia, as it was the album constantly playing as my life went through the drastic transition of unnoticed teenager to a young adult juggling far too many relationships and impending adulthood. It also contributed heavily to my current tastes, as it was the first nonmetal/screaming/whatever-core music I had adored in years.
2Underoath
Define the Great Line

This was more or less my soundtrack to my sophomore year of high school. But more than that, it helped me through a time when I didn't want to live. In fact, I believe that were it not for this album, I might not have made it through that year. Yeah, the reasons for my suicidal thoughts were ridiculous and juvenile, but it doesn't change the fact that this album may quite possibly be the only reason I'm still here today.
1Between the Buried and Me
Colors

Yeah yeah lolbtbam, but this has to be first on the list. Not only is it my favorite album, but it's done a lot to change me. If it weren't for this album, I would still be listening to a multitude of shitty deathcore and metalcore. While the effects of this didn't hit me immediately, it's ultimately the reason that my music taste is what it is today, and I can't thank it enough for that.
