|Who Else Digs A Good Zombedy?|
Just watched a fun little Aussie zombie flick and was thinking about how much I love a good zombie movie - more specifically those that contain a nice dose of wit.
So I've compiled a list of me fave ten (off the top of my head), in rough order.
NB: I wouldn't consider most of these "good" - but nowadays I'm mostly about enjoying the ride when it comes to film.
List is artists I'm seeing next week, in vague order of excitedness.
"Shaun of the Dead": obvs
|2||Belle and Sebastian|
If You're Feeling Sinister
"Dead Snow 2": Nazi zombies vs Soviet zombies - I mean, what's not to love?? The rare sequel that easily eclipses the original.
|3||The New Pornographers|
"Braindead" (Dead Alive): PJ was so much more fun back in the day.
Turn on the Bright Lights
Zombieland: it is what it is.
"Juan of the Dead": Set in Cuba. Like a (sort of) political, Spanish-speaking Shaun. Loved it.
|6||Antony and the Johnsons|
I Am A Bird Now
"Wyrmwood: Road of the Dead": Hyped (but far from overly) as Mad Max meets the undead - and it did not disappoint. Add in some good old fashioned Aussie humour and know-how, and baby, you've got yourself a movie.
|7||Sun Kil Moon|
"Dead Snow": Nothing really happens in the first half, but the denouement is g(l)orious. And Nazi zombies, amirite?
"Fido": Post-post-apocalyptic in a fresh-ish way.
"Cockneys vs Zombies": Not quite as Robin Hood as I dreamed it would be, but worthy nonetheless.
|10||Death Cab for Cutie|
"Zombeavers": So this is a pretty dam atrocious movie, and unbelievably cringey, but it's one of those ones that you're rooting for everyone to die in, so I got enough enjoyment from it. Plus I just watched it, so it's literally off the top of my head.
